Willie wants to know the truth, but I'm not sure he is ready for it. Hopefully when he finds out he will be shocked, but then realize he now has the opportunity to chase after Sarah himself. I suspect evil approaches in the form of the riders coming into town. Groups like this are either rustlers, thieves, mercenaries or vigilanties. None of them any good.

Colby has put the thought of girls out of Deacon's head. The sheriff may not like the idea, but Deacon's thoughts about marrying Colby is radical for the times. drpaladin is right about a distance to go with them if Deacon finds out Colby is a killer. However, I'm not sure that Colby is a killer yet. At least I don't think Colby could kill someone like Ms. Samson. It's been a long time since I read GFD stories, so I can't remember if @Comicality has a different way to feed for vampires in his universe.

Like @drpaladin I look forward to Deacon knowing the truth about Colby, but also fear that knowing the whole truth will put one or both of them in very deep danger. There are a lot of people out to destroy Colby. Deacon has a lot of loyalty to his father, and I fear that Deacon will be torn between helping Colby or helping his father.

BTW I have bookmarked two of your stories for Halloween reading. Looking forward to reading them in the next day or two.

A short story of a lover being left behind. It is sad and nothing is stated as to why this must happen. A careful read of the clues, however, will lead the reader to a good idea of what has happened and why they must part. Think of this as a 5 minute mystery.

A beautiful, sad story well written.

Let the Music Play has been on my list of "to read books" for a long time. You picked a great passage, and I am interested again in reading it. CJames' writing is overwhelming as he makes you feel you are there experiencing every action and emotion. However, I am still in recovery after reading Circumnavigation a half year ago, so I may need a little more time before reading Let the Music Play.

This is a very riveting chapter. Marilou is a very nice person, but I understood why she was reluctant to share information on Maggie and Elias. Asher's ongoing comments as Elias started to remember things from his home finally overcame her reluctance. I like how you wrote the revealing information coming from Elias' memories and not from Marilou as we might expect. Now Asher and Kaelie have some leads, I expect they will need to do even more research. Elias said, I want to know who Elias loved if it was not Emilia. I'm very sure that Asher wants to know who more than I do! I think it might put what happened at the grave in a much different perspective. May be Elias wasn't murdered. Unless Abigail hated her own daughter, I think this rumor was started to cover up a big scandal with a smaller scandal. I also believe what drpaladin has said is true, and look forward to finding out which possibility will happen in the ghost story, not a ghost story. Excellent chapter as usual.

I am not sure, but I think I have read this story on another site. If it is the same, it is a wonderful story that I will continue. I am excited, because this time I will be able to comment and review. That's the wonder of GA and why l read so much on this site!

Hi Gary! Every boy needs a dog, so I hope dugh heeds your advice. I agree with dugh though. All my beloved Scottish terriers had a lot of health problems. Terriers are loyal and loving dogs, but very expensive to maintain.

Hey All! Just a quick recommendation of a very quick read. Stetson Boy is a 10 minute modern western mystery. The mystery of who and what the boy remains at the end of the story. If you read it, let me know if you liked it.

Stetson Boy is a short, cleverly written story that starts on a wild ride with a boy in a Stetson. At the end of the tale, the mystery of the boy still remains. I was left with a warm haunting feeling. Excellent read.

@Johnathan Colourfield This is a very intriguing short story that had me thinking the Stetson boy was more like a demon. It did remind me of an old song, Ghost Riders in the Sky. For those not familiar with it I submit this for the curious. There are many, many versions and singers who have hit the charts many times over the last 80 years from Sons of the Pioneers to The Outlaws. The words are what I was hearing in my head as I read this short story. Hope you like it>
