Kage is so in love and just doesn't know it. He is the fly in Elijah's web. Such a blistering, smoldering domestic scene. I was expecting a flaming fire of passion the whole time. And then.... You caught me off guard and spiraling to the floor. I do love your humor...just as twisted as your plots!!! Then, you set the set aflame again! As a retired teacher I fully approve of the hands...er ... tongue on lessons with an impressive student who grasp the lesson. Well, not grasp, but something like that. Damn, the floors need cleaning in the corner again! I am overjoyed that Kage has finally realized he is completely screwed! Love this chapter!

Just too easy. I am looking forward to finding out what the doctors have learned and how they can help Ellis.

Now that the mate/bond inconsistencies have been resolve, there is only one major issue I have left. Dav's thinking and actions have negated the character you constructed before the false accusations against Ellis. Dav's thoughts show a very simple minded primitive person that is not only unobservant, but incapable of recalling and analyzing the important information he gained when he bonded with Ellis. He doesn't protect his bond with Ellis, but blocks it. Stupid! He doesn't have any instinctive sense or deliberately ignores it. Paranoid! He is more animal than anything else. He is almost an opposite of the character that has been building up in the prior books and chapters. Taking advantage of Ellis' migraines and his feeble excuses just doesn't feel right to me, and definitely not enough to re-establish a relationship. I am still with you on this story. I hope that Dav can actually do something that makes him something other than the poor little abused snake who is a victim of a prejudiced society. I want the savvy, smart, survivor who conquers his world to re-emerge triumphant. He will have to work hard to get to that place again.

Interesting how Ellis is gaining more traits of a snake now that he's not bonded. Of course that is up for debate. Dav is one sick snake and has a big mountain of a problem he needs to solve to get Ellis back. Dav needs to do something enormous and heroic in order to win back Ellis' trust, and do it once again to regain Ellis's love. Anything else would be a disappointing cave in by Ellis' character, and completely unbalance the relationship. IMO. I am not sure about Isiah's explanations and reserve judgement on the twin and his evil partner. (I still have not forgiven him for his betrayal and treatment of Natham.) I wonder what the hell Dav wants! I don't have any sympathy for him no matter the excuses for what he has done. Including a bad childhood.

I just hope that Ellis keeps his promise to Velaku and Natham, and let's them know Isiah is coming to visit.

I'm limiting comments on this chapter, because my understanding of mates and bonding in this universe has been assaulted by some major inconsistencies. I wait further chapters to clear my confused state. 🤔

I don't do the whole embarrassment thing too often on my characters, I blush for them when I write and I hate that feeling, lol, but I had to add in the line about the boss hearing them having sex. I think besides your parents, that's just about the worst person you would havelistening in for pure blush factor, LOL. Thanks for the review! Double postings are fun! I get to use two reactions. Dirk and Ingles get to hear the chief's praise for their work and the opportunity to let him know of the life changes. Their serious conversation was only topped by the amount of laughter it created. I could quote the whole conversation, but it was the first major laugh that got stuck in my mind. Someone should create a gif for this. Vincent's visit to Caleb's folks was very sweet. I am surprised that Caleb hadn't mention Vince's changes to them. Vincent's visit to his mother and father's graves was also a special moment. I loved that Vince introduced his wolf to his parents. Vince and his wolf have a very special bond and this just made it stronger. Vince returning home and finding out the holidays with be for meeting Mason's whole family was a nice twist and I look forward to the fun to be had at Thanksgiving and Christmas with them. Finally, Harold has a great day ahead when Tillman and Cyrus suddenly disrupt the peace. I am hoping from Cyrus' comment that Tillman and Cyrus have enough evidence to bring down Harold and his operation for good. Can't wait to find out! , Aaron, Kudos for all the you gave me in this chapter!

I wonder who the bigoted asshole is that is threatening Ellis? The ahat doesn't have long to live. There was a lot to this chapter and it answered many questions. I like the insights to Dav as well as the caring and intelligent way Ellis was able to help him.

Identification of mate to mated bond in less than 24 hours, probably closer to 12 hours. These two characters are as different as can be, but fit the ideals Yin and Yang natural duality of opposites that complete a whole. In other words these two are like night and day that blend together naturally. They will be there to heal and support each other and their strengths and weaknesses will be complimentary. This is the best start to a story in this series. It has a lot of depth of character and the right balance of angst and hope.

Dav thought Ellis would be the fearful one, but surprise, surprise it's Dav who is the fearful one. Dav knows Ellis is his mate, but can't believe Ellis will love him just the way he is now. You are more than meeting my expectations about Dav as a character. He is just as complex as I imagined, but also sweetly vulnerable and hot!

I am used to the quick identifications and bonding of mates in the world of the Carthera. This one seems on the way to set a record. Dav knows almost immediately, and Ellis barely blinks and eye before he answers Dav's question, and almost demands a kiss. That was very clever writing. Ellis has unknowingly been prepare for this moment and is very aware of the Carthera and their society. I love the foundation you are building to this story.

This is the book I've been waiting to read after the first two in this series, and one other Carthera Tales book. The MC's of those books were always good guys falling in love with good guys. The Snake was always a disreputable bad boy in the background who did something to help, but was never more than a shadow in the stories. Now we get to learn more about this intriguing character, and more of his story. Great start @Cia!
