Or maybe a facepalm button?

I rather doubt it. Keep in mind, this is the NON-slang and NON-colloquial meaning of peen.

@Jason Rimbaud -- @Bill W -- see this to see the non-slang meaning of peen. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/peen

The owner of the farm next to ours when I was growing up had horses. He and his son sometimes rode them over to our farm. When I was about 4 or 5, he rode over on what I now realize was a very tall horse and offered to lift me up to sit in the saddle. I seemed to be really high up! Later, I rode a few times now and then with my best friend's horse, but was not good at it. Horses well cared for are beautiful animals and I enjoy watching them.

Wat a fun romp through time and space! Way to go, Chris!

Great! Will the otter and penguin be regulars now?

Isaac Asimov wrote some short stories about a goose who laid golden eggs -- actually eggs with flecks of gold in the shells, Fascinating and humorous to read. Larry Niven wrote a lot of short stories. Some where science fiction, some fantasy, and some detective. Anne McCaffrey wrote several good short stories,, and on this site I like the short stories of @Geron Kees, @Myr, @chris191070, @Valkyrie, @astone2292, @BendtedWreath, and several others. (Keep in mind, to me a short story is under 30,000 words.) And I can't forget the short story by @wildone -- "Why is Your Underwear in the Swimming Pool?"

Regarding Bible translations, some translators have said that some or all of the "abominations" from Leviticus should have been translated as -- "It is not our custom." That would change the slant of the English considerably. -
@Bill W -- I appreciate the word origin summaries you give. @drpaladin -- I like the pithy and often very insightful comments you make. Well done, both of you.

A friend has a working 8-track player and a few 8-track tapes which have not worn out, but his favorites all wore out years ago.

Fascinating! Good writing, Chris.

Excellent story. Humor and fun and quick read. All well done. Worth reading.

Love the story. Especially loved the phrase "dropping him squarely into a high-fructose, high-stress, 2026 sports road trip." As a chef, you would be better qualified than most to recognize the use of high-fructose. Barnaby must be somewhat empathic and/or telepathic to recognize the high blood pressure and the emotional components of Leo and Marcus. Well done. And they must have been well-educated to recognize a capybara..

Gay Authors - The Next Update and Survey Discussion
ReaderPaul commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors News
That is the case for some authors. @Altimexis -- As @Mark Arbour said, it can be done. I've seen more than one author who have stories scheduled to publish chapters up to four weeks ahead. You can see publishing schedules, if they have been set up, by clicking on the title of a story on the author's story listings, then clicking on the "Stats" tab for that particular story. It will show chapters loaded for that story, and if a publishing date is set, will also show that. There are already a lot of handy features, but it is not always obvious how to see them. I still have much to learn. But I would like to thank @Myr and the other Admins for how they keep improving the usability of the site.- 38 comments

I listen to Science Friday at home or in the car, depending on where I am on Friday afternoons a 1 P.M. (Central Time Zone). I sometimes listen to some other science programs if I am in the car at the right time.

In the cola wars, I prefer RC Cola (once known as Royal Crown). Coke Classic is okay. Pepsi has too much caramel color in it for me. But I usually drink Mountain Dew. I also like pomegranate juice and fruit juices with blueberry or cherry in them. On the diet front, I will sometimes drink Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Mountain Dew, but I have to limit myself to one 12 oz can per day due to sensitivity to Aspartame.

Gay Authors - The Next Update and Survey Discussion

@Myr, when the changes on bots happened, didn't APPARENT readership drop, because the bots were being filtered out? This gave more accurate statistics on readership and views, if I am remembering correctly. I also appreciate how the GA landing page now has so many genre choices available now, if I am in the mood for science fiction or fantasy or comedy or poetry or whatever. An added tool for discovering new things. Well done.- 38 comments

Gay Authors - The Next Update and Survey Discussion
ReaderPaul commented on Myr's blog entry in Gay Authors News
The planned improvements sound very good. I look forward to learning more as things continue to upgrade. Thanks. Unlike many, I have a really good memory for where i was in a story. But I know some are not as fortunate, or -- sometimes life gets in the way. One thing which was really helpful for me was when I signed up for Premium Membership. Especially on my phone it made a huge difference in simplicity. While I prefer to read on my desktop, I use my phone as well. This site works better with my phone than most, and I really appreciate that.- 38 comments

Had an aunt and uncle in Arizona who had a lemon tree in their back yard.

Something else useful is the way the GA home page is now set up. Giving the categories such as Fantasy, Western, Poetry, Comedy, Historical, and so on, are very helpful.

For a situation where truth and non-truth are both disguised or hidden, see the short story by @Myr titled "Mindmaster" in his Fantasy Flash Collection . To quickly find that story, type Fantasy Flash Collection into the search bar of the Stories tab. Then scroll to the chapter titled Mindmaster. -
The Luggage Paradox of Barnaby the Chrono-Capybara
ReaderPaul reviewed chris191070's story in Fiction
@chris191070 used a proverbial ton of fun imagination for this story. The adventures and misadventures of Barnaby were great. The only thing not really explained -- where did Barnaby get the pot and potted plants in the control room? You have to read this to have the fun of enjoying it.-

Chris, I enjoyed this greatly. I look forward to seeing what other readers have to say.
-
This story is wild, wacky, WTH (What The Heck), and wonderful all at the same time. The rollicking rolling ride of imagination is short but manages to be complete in itself and worth reading and enjoying.
