    Chapter 1

Okay, @BendtedWreath and @CassieQ -- perhaps a related story featuring some of the other characters? Did Mariah know Louis would be there and try to get Jace and him near each other so they might reconnect? What is Mark's side story? Maybe he knows the side-story of another gay couple? The lines about the snatch, then the clean-and-jerk, were priceless. If you two decide to write a related story, I want to read it. Edit: The line about the trust fund reminds me me of a Robert A. Heinlein saying: "Money is the most powerful aphrodisiac."
  2. Very true, @chris191070. Thanks, @Myr for these deep dives.
  3. Often this is true. But I have met some persons who have paranoia even when they have all the facts on something, and there may be no reason for the paranoia.
  4. Lots of good stories in this update. Thanks, @wildone.
  5. I had to look up presbyopia. I haven't had that exact one, but know persons who have experienced that one.
  6. I have a book of the collected Poor Richard's Almanack, by Benjamin Franklin. The above reminds me of one of the sayings: "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead."
  7. This reminds me of a book my parents had from the 1930s or 1940s on strange stories and conspiracy theories. A group of people, according to one story, has secretly ruled the world for over three thousand years. The telling about this story was very skeptical, ending with a sentence summarizing the theory that three million, three hundred thirty-three thousand, three hundred thirty-three people have secretly ruled the world for over 3,000 years as follows: "If 3,333,333 people can keep a secret for over three thousand years, they deserve to succeed!"

    Chapter 1

Way to go, Chris! Good imagination here!
  9. I am tending to agree, @drpaladin. Others seem to have a natural understanding of strategy.
  10. Good stuff, Troy. Enjoying the story.
  11. Amazing stories and author in these lists. Thanks, @Myr and other authors.

    HD Chapter 1

Good to see a new story from you, @quokka. If you need to post less often, it is okay. But very happy to see this from you.
  13. @chris191070 is correct. I have seen that done by some authors here, and that sometimes has caused me to read BOTH versions of a story. Usually, the second version is an improvement, and the contrasts and variations can be fascinating. That would be my suggestion, as well.
  14. Good story, Troy. And we don't get to read the next chapter until May 19?
  15. One of the best stories is by @wildone --- under Surreal Comedy. But lots of other good ones, as well.
  16. The pictures of beavers above remind me of, when I was a teen, I was staying overnight with a friend and we saw beavers building a dam on the creek of his parents' property. Two nights later, it rained five inches in two hours, and the beaver dam was washed away.
  17. I agree with @Sherye Story Reader in her assessment of the story. An excellent read.
  18. Would shoulder pads be considered a type of epaulet?
  19. You have a good sense of humor, so you would be indignantly jocular.
  20. So, @Lee Wilson -- is that you singing or something generated by suno dot com? I really liked Live Your Own Life 1, but I like Live Your Own Life 2 slightly better, though both are really good.
  21. Oh, and Lee. In the previous chapter, you have Fabian walking into the Little M Studio. Then: "Aubrey Wright, the auburn-haired receptionist,..." Did you do the alliteration of Aubrey and auburn on purpose, a la Mark Twain, or by accident?
  22. You could always later amend it to say -- "The End, For Now." As Fabian gains experience with S&S, his writing abilities on songs will continue to improve. A sequel has many possible angles. Examples include: Alex runs into Javier Gomez (see previous chapter) and Fabian helps Alex with the reconnection or fireworks, as the case might be. Further example: Fabian and his replacement from the former band, Eric Lehman, deepen their friendship. Further possibility: We learn more about Reid and Ryan. Further possibility: The Slacker Crew starts to cut albums. Fabian and Reid give some guidance. Good story, @Lee Wilson.
  23. You have the ability to say so much with such economy of words. I rarely can do that. I admire greatly those who are able to do so.
  24. As Mr. Spock from the original Star Trek series would say, "Fascinating." Do you have a sequel series of chapters planned for this story yet? I can't read them, but I notice you have four more chapters loaded and ready to go. Perhaps you might consider a story of Fabian's former band searching for a replacement guitarist? This might be your best story yet.
