I don't think experiencing transference with his own past earns him any points on the humanity scale. He still used Ezra and more lives will be lost. He's not an intel agent, he's a terrorist.
Milo's, their lead, died before they could get the intel they needed.
Meanwhile, Enrico moves on with his intricate plans, but memories of his own past lead him to expose himself for the sake of Ezra's feelings. Will this chink in his armor lead to his undoing?
It strikes me how little we know about Cassandra. We onky know she's half human, a clairvoyant, and mad. We don't know what her other half might be or how she came to be with the pack. We do know she can't be trusted.
And Pembroke? Is it possible he has been acquiring wealth and training for one purpose - revenge?
The critical question is how long will the poison take to act? There are a broad assortment of poisons which are transdermal or can be made so. Since Enrico doesn't know the network has been compromised, perhaps Milo's will talk before he dies.
From what Elias shared about his people, they are observers and don't interact with others. Being involved in some plot with the Kawisps over some political matter seems antithetical to both their nature and sense of time. However, shielding them from a perceived threat is very likely.
The tension in this chapter was superb, escalating to the capture of Milo's. However, what they imagine as a successful ending is only a double blind dead-end. The only question is will Milos live long enough to drop Enrico's name? Another variable Enrico hadn't factored in.
This is working out to be one of the most pivotal stories in the Charlie Boone series. Charlie and his friends have come so very far in both personal growth and their journeys across universes and dimensions. By chance or fate, they have found the ultimate ship to aid them in their travels. More than a mere ship, it is a living partner.
With Castor's help, they are all now bonded with the ship, with Castor, and with each other.
What a mess, but an oddly predictable one. Two separate teams carrying out a covert op on friendly soil set against each other. Since the intel came from two other agencies, one might suspect someone else could be there.

From all we've seen so far, Alexander has been attracted to Lyn from the moment he first saw him in the library years ago. Now he's making good on it.
From what I'm seeing, the Faslane attack was carefully timed so a key replacement could be inserted on a particular submarine. It's only part of an intricate plot.
I wonder if Investigator has the ability to disguise itself or go invisible.
The sad part of this deception is they will always have to pretend to be Carpathians to the Loturi, at least if they are in this ship.
