    Chapter 28 S2

Tornadoes can do some weird things. I remember going where a tornado hit a house when I was a boy and it had swept it away from the concrete foundation like it had never been there, except it left the refrigerator and a kitchen table and chairs. The table was set with dinnerware and a bottle of ketchup was in the middle. In was a lot like an odd art piece you might see at a modern museum.
  2. The two bases of this word derive directly from Latin; horror, meaning standing stiffly, bristling (of fear or cold), dread, and pilus, meaning hair.

    Chapter 21

A few Yakuza observations. As odd as it might seem, Japan has never made Yakuza membership a crime. Kenji isn't missing any fingers or parts of them, which means he's either unerringly obedient, one honking big oyabun, or both.
  4. Chaucer was possibly the one who started the elusive search by barmaids for Michael Hunt. They haven't seen or found Mike yet.
  5. I would try to avoid going up to guys named Joe and asking if they're jocund. You're liable to get punched in the face.
  6. From the Latin jocundus, meaning agreeable or delightful.

    Chapter 21

Dead people are harder to find. With all the info Kenji had, it was a piece of cake to surreptitiously run River's credit card charges. In the old days, it wasn't so easy. Once Judy Garland needed to find her then husband to tell him something, but didn't know where he was. She called FBI Director, J. Edgar Hoover. Hoover called back 30 minutes later and told her the city he was in, his hotel and room number, and the assumed name he was registered under. All before computers.

    Chapter 21

Crime family adjacent. Now that's a unique way to put it. It almost makes it wholesome. This is a side we didn't see in the previous story. River is sorting himself out. It's sort of ironic the trauma twins are mega boyfriending at the same time.
  9. Be careful around the McFarrago clan, they are touchy about their roots.
  10. At least George is being distracted from losing his command and Endymion being put to sea immediately was another blessing. Even with George tied to Carmella and Calvert to Amelia, the rumors about them refuse to completely stop.
  11. The one fingered, dactylion salute is considered rude.
  12. Since we are in the Age of E, can we say the ebullient are full of E-bull?

    Chapter 20

Were you on the up ladder or the down one? The down one had glitter.
  14. From the Latin ebullient, to bubble out. Originally ebullient stuck close to its roots, being used for boiling or bubbling.

    Chapter 20

What was the object Xavier retrieved and was it personal or of monumental import to all?
  16. But not selling it.
  17. I wasn't aiming for the more arcane classicism. Crappoly will do nicely.
  18. Could have some fun with this. Crappoly anyone?

    Chapter 20

I enjoy how giving others advice is so easy, but figuring out your own problems? Impossible *** So true.
  20. There is this hilarious scene from the movie One, Two, Three with James Cagney.
  21. The music they played while doing this was usually Sabre Dance.
  22. I thought of bibliophile also. But then pole came into play. Recall those performers who juggled spinning plates on the ends of poles? I would imagine doing it with oblong books would be nigh impossible. lol

    Chapter 20

I agree. I think calling them blooded or battle tested would be more accurate. Battle hardened implies much more experience than a single battle.

    Chapter 20

All I need is a Sad and Angry and I'll have hit all reactions in a single post. Geez.

    Chapter 20

It was Haley Joel who saw the dead folks, but agree on no more red eyed zombies. At least give 'em some Visine. No wonder they're so testy.
