This was explained earlier. They transform to seem to age, pretend to die, and become their own son on paper.

I think part of the reason Gramps and Pops gave Devin cash would be to accustome him to handling larger amounts of cash. It's also the way they do transactions when they can. Does anyone here really believe every time they hit a treasure windfall they run and put cash in the bank?

People have bucked up against attempts to control money before. This won't be any different. It'll just fuel a bigger underground economy.

You're looking at this in the wrong way. You think it's safer not to carry cash, but it's not really so. Wlhat You're protecting is only money. If you get robbed and have nothing worth stealing, it's liable to really piss them off. This is exactly how it works in many parts of the world. The haves pay a relatively small toll and the plastic carriers die. Anyway, it's not like someone could rob them and get away.

Olds made the 4-4-2, it wasn't an old folks car. I always drove 'old folks cars' myself. The reason they were called that was only older people could afford them. When I learned to drive, I was told I could buy anything I wanted as long as it didn't cost more than $10k, which was very generous considering it could buy a new Jaguar, Mercedes SL, Porsche 911, or Ferrari at the time.

The aliens are using stealth technology. The episode was the disc was almost akin to tackling an enormous game fish. What is so unique about Jem to cause the blob to go silent? Is his presence comforting?

It's best not to make limiting assumptions. I prefer to prepare with the premise the enemy is great and powerful. We only know they are far superior in biotech and are willing to kill. The colonists are at a distinct disadvantage. The enemy knows much about them while they know very little. What you don't know can kill you.

This word was invented to describe William Gifford, an English poet and critic. Gifford had been a shoemaker's apprentice and the word came from cobbler in the Latin phrase, "the cobbler should not judge beyond his shoe." -
The only reason the blobs weren't made aggressive is because this was covert. Who knows what fiendish creatures they can cook up?

A new and yet unknown native creature directing the orx offensively would be bad enough, but an outside presence using specifically designed biological constructs to do so is danger on a whole new level. It also means we haven't even begun to see where this will lead. U On this foray into the unknown, everyone is much to sure of the virtual invincibility of ironwood.

Doesn't look so curly to me. -
I imagine with some tweaks you could make a blob on your head look like a hat, though a head sized one would be a bit much.

One might consider them a symbiot, but I still look at them as parasites. This is the first they've seen after five hundred years on this planet. We might wonder if they could control creatures with higher brain function, like humans?

Latin borrowed from the Greek oulotrich-, oulothrix, meaning having curly or woolly hair. -
Jem has great instincts and a quick mind. He reacted when others might have been frozen in shock. He also knew with his small weapon to aim at the beast's most vulnerable spot. Those inward lasers did the trick. If this ratchets up, the equatorial seas won't be the only ones mariners fear.
