  1. Thanks for sharing the video with us. Joel Burns' words are very touching. I hope young people, gay and straight, will hear his message.
  2. Cammy and Matt...great pictures! Thanks for sharing.
  3. Great lines Joe. Thanks. I wonder if the patients are that witty or if the sedative (usually Versed) doesn't loosen tongues and inhibitions. Several people mentioned Sygmoidoscopies. If a gastroentereologist ever suggests you have one, refuse. The colonoscopy is much less painful, perhaps because they don't give you a sedative for the Sygmoidoscopy. It would be quite difficult to say anything witty while the doctor is trying to inflate your large intestines like a balloon.
  4. Happy Birthday, Pavel!
  5. Happy Birthday, Chase! Hope all is well in your kingdom by the sea.
  6. The one fingered salute is becoming more common in professional sports, especially in the NFL. See: Titan's Cecil fined $40K for flipping bird Another sports writer referred to the gesture as "half of a peace sign".
  7. Frogs don't do that kinky, interspecies stuff.
  8. Indiana University has just released its National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior. It is a survey of nearly 6,000 Americans of all ages concerning their sexual activity. The graph of sexual behavior may be of most interest. It shows the percentage of people by gender and age group who participated in various forms of sex. Another graph shows condom use by age and gender. Kudos to teens.
  9. Hey, Methodwriter! You must have been asleep at the wheel. Check this out: http://www.gayauthor...post__p__264770
  10. Now we can see that Jake really is a different story. It deals with teenage entanglements in a different way from any other story I've ever read. Leave it to C James to find a novel approach. I feel sorry for those folks who quit reading the story early on because they thought it predictable, formulaic, or simply too slow. They are missing a real treat; might as well read on Nifty.
  11. Happy Birthday, Cammy!
  12. We don't understand a lot about genetics. Even the most accomplished of scientists would tell you they are just beginning to scratch the surface. Gregor Mendel knew a lot about genetics 125 years ago. Breeders of animals and plants know a lot about genetics. But we have only scratched the surface. Genetics explain - even control - hair and eye color, body height and shape and other factors of human appearance. Handsome, blond haired, blue eyed people tend to have handsome, blond haired, blue eyed offspring. Physical strength may be determined in part by genetics. But genetics can have a dark side. A number of diseases have a genetic factor. I know this from my own experience and I pray every day that none of my sons and grandsons will inherit that particular gene or genetic mutation. Scientists may one day know enough about genetics that we will all be strong, handsome, and disease free. Until then, we must each play the hand we are dealt.
  13. The magic number is 13: Franklin D. Roosevelt (1933-1945) Harry S Truman (1945-1953) Dwight D. Eisenhower (1953-1961) John F. Kennedy (1961-1963) Lyndon B. Johnson (1963-1969) Richard M. Nixon (1969-1974) Gerald R. Ford, Jr. (1974-1977) James E. (Jimmy) Carter, Jr.(1977-1981) Ronald Reagan (1981-1989) George H. W. Bush (1989-1993) William J. (Bill) Clinton (1993-2001) George W. Bush (2001-2009) Barack H. Obama (2009-present)
  14. Subtle Beauty is a great story. I really enjoyed chapter 7. Surely Cooper and Mich will start a real conversation soon about their feelings for each other. One of them has to take the first step. Keep up the good work, John.

I think this is the forum unless someone from Admin moves it to a more appropriate place.
  16. No. But since I don't fit in with either the Right or Left, it's the only place I have to voice my political and social opinions. Funny thing is...as time passes, I seem to have less to say; politics and social issues are beginning to bore me and I can't decide if that's a bad thing.

There's been no announcement, but Don Hanratty has released Chapter 46 of Belovèd.
  18. Sorry if I disappoint, Chase. Thank you, Matt. I really liked your recent picture, btw. I can't believe you actually counted them, Vic. There honestly were 121 mirrors; a few may have been cropped out of the picture. I'm not going to count them to see.
  19. OK. Here it is. I had decided long ago that I would never post a picture of myself in this forum. I scoffed at all those pictures members had taken of themselves by holding a camera (or cell phone camera) in front of a mirror. I thought it sad that they didn't even have a friend that they could trust to take their picture. Suddenly last week it hit me. I could take my own picture and it would be better than anyone else could take of themselves through a mirror, even better than a friend could take.
  20. A Chance Encounter is a great story, John. Both characters are amazing and their misunderstanding of each other's intentions makes for an excellent plot. And the ending was perfect...happy. I have a couple of questions...not serious. I don't now if you are someone else selected the picture of the train station. In what city was the picture taken? In what year was the picture taken?
  21. Well, now we know why Cammy likes you. Of course he's not as shallow as that implies, so there must be other good reasons.
  22. After reading Chapter 5, I think Cooper and Mich are going to be much more than friends. Did Mich hide from Vern to avoid a confrontation or to hide the fact he was calling on Cooper? Enjoying the story very much, John. That awkward conversation between the two guys was really cool, though neither of them was. It will be interesting to see what you have in store for our characters.
  23. I hate repeating myself. There are no cliff dwelling frogs except that one species confined to central and west Texas. One is much more likely to see goats meandering about cliffs. Frogs don't go near cliffs because they draw much more pleasure from creating tadpoles.
  24. Excellent poem,John. It wasn't long ago that you thought you couldn't write poetry. Then, when you finally started, you found you couldn't stop. Please don't even try to stop.
  25. Only a goat would think that a feel good paragraph at the end of a chapter erases all outstanding cliffhangers. I am truly surprised that Benji would fall for your ruse. Perhaps he overlooked my refutation.
