  1. There really is some passion in this chapter. And, it is in the dark. In addition to all the other cliffhangers, none of which were resolved in the chapter, we now have . Help is on the way; will it arrive in time?
  2. Cliff James has released Chapter 42 of Changing Lanes..."Passion in the Dark". "We all need to look into the dark side of our nature - that's where the energy is, the passion. People are afraid of that because it holds pieces of us that we're busy denying." ~ Sue Grafton
  3. Some of our youngest members seem to be the most level-headed. What is the soapbox for if not for us to air our disagreements. I may think that what some say in that forum is ridiculous, but I still want to hear what's on their minds. They may be no more than political die-hards, in which case I'm likely to get a little bored. But there is a time and place for everything and the soapbox covers a lot of territory. Let's keep it lively by speaking our minds, not by turning our backs. James, Dan, play nice. Some of our youngest members are watching closely.
  4. You might enjoy reading Graeme's stories at awesomedude.com. I especially liked Falls Creek Lessons where Graeme used an unusual technique for telling the story from every character's viewpoint in the first person. Another writer I like is Ronyx at themustardjar.com especially Brittle as a Bird and its sequel A Bridge to Yesterday.
  5. Thank you. We had a great day celebrating with our sons and grandsons. I add my best wishes to all the fathers and grandfathers out there. I believe we have at least one great grandfather, too.
  6. Great! You guys really have a lot in common. Dare I say I've never seen a cuter couple of mechanics?
  7. Cool cars, Lacey! Who's the real mechanic, you or Chris?
  8. Happy Birthday, John!
  9. Goat droppings? And that bureaucrat's name! Where does CJ get this stuff? He must spend a lot of time ruminating on the edge of a cliff. This is a good chapter...lots of action and intrigue...but woefully lacking in the resolution of all the suspense. That's what keeps us coming back for more. Thanks, CJ.
  10. Cliff James has released Pushing the Limits, chapter 41 of Changing Lanes. "Basic instincts, social life. Paradoxes side by side Don't submit to stupid rules Be yourself and not a fool. Don't accept average habits Open your heart and push the limits." ~ Enigma
  11. Many thanks to those of you who commented on this topic. To date, 215 have read the topic, so hopefully it has been of some help to a number of people. I wish you peace and love and hope you never have to choose between the two.
  12. Wicked wording, CJ. Very good tongue-in-cheek phrasing. I have a soft spot for humor at the expense of the humorless. Is the janitor's position considered an internship? I also like the new word you used, ignobility...very creative and appropriate.
  13. Thanks, Mathieu. That's a beautiful sentiment.

    Stanford chemo/transplant

Best wishes, Robert. Take care and follow doctors' orders.
  15. It's four, not six; two have deserted. One of the four can't fire a rifle.
  16. I agree with Drew about the cliffhanger.
  17. Cliff James has released Trapped, chapter 40 of Changing Lanes.
  18. Great place to go to college! I was just there again and enjoyed my brief stay. Best wishes.
  19. We don't know why Luis would beat up Nick. He is quite possibly looking after Jesse's interests because he still considers Jesse his best friend. Maybe Nick tried hitting on Luis.
  20. Congratulations, Daddy Nick. Babies require a lot of TLC, but it's worth every minute. Enjoy her; the next thing you know, you will be a grandfather.

    Everyone... chill....

I'm reasonably sane. I think. I'm cool (personal opinion).
  22. I am jealous about only one thing. I was a premature baby...about 50 years premature.
  23. Congratulations! Where will you be going to school?
  24. He lives on his family's 230-acre ranch near Mission, S.D.
  25. He is America's newest multi-millionaire. He's also young and good looking. What more could you want? Story: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2...lottery_pr.html
