  1. I agree, Dave. They are not safe and their fate may be horrible. Not only do they have to contend with severe weather and dangerous seas around Cape Horn, but they have many miles to go to reach the Falklands...about 48 hours. Bridget isn't the only one trying to track them down; there are the Argentines and possibly the Chileans.
  2. Sugar would not do much damage to an engine or transmission, but put sugar in the gas tank? Look out! It's why ethanol should never be added to gasoline.
  3. Wen, I think we Christians correctly thank God for the blessings we have. Our prayers should also include a request for blessings on those who are ill, bereaved, out of work, suffering from a natural disaster or other mishap. It is also appropriate for us to pray for those who are not Christians. If anyone objects, we will include those petitions in our private prayers only. As the Chinese New Year is approaching (February 10, 2013), I pray that you will have a happy and prosperous one. 春節
  4. LOL. Same here. Poor goat.
  5. Happy Birthday, Bleu! Our flourishing one.

A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."
  7. Another thing I've found interesting is to search for information on these locations. You can see pictures, maps, and read some historical and cultural information at Wikipedia.org on Carnarvon, for example.
  8. Sorry about that TR. It's a wonder I beat you to it; I had several interruptions and thought I would never get that posted. The history bit is essential. Chile? I've been thinking they are going to the Falklands. Wasn't the Falklands capital, Port Stanley, mentioned earlier?
  9. Wet blanket? I should think so. A little history never hurt anyone. In this case, it helps the reader understand why Trevor is being hassled by the customs agent at Ushuaia. The Argentines' record on international relations is a checkered one at best. Their past wars with neighbors Chile and the UK (Falkland Islands) influence the way Trevor is being treated and provide insight into his motivation for seeking to steal away and evade any military assets Argentina may use against him. Trevor and Shane are Argentina's newest enemies. Their preemptive strike was limited to potatoes. You have read 147 chapters of Circumnavigation because it's a good story. C J doesn't write the typical gay story. The detail enriches the reader's experience. As punishment, you should reread the history lesson.
  10. Her speech was very graceful and lighthearted. It was the first time I ever heard "single" used as as euphemism for "gay" or "lesbian".
  11. Benji, just because "the goat throws us curves" doesn't mean Grundig is one of the bad guys. Have you considered that the goat may also throw screwballs?
  12. We've seen nothing in the story that casts any suspicion on Grundig. Bridget has enough henchmen without recruiting an obscure, junior customs officer in the tiny town Carnarvon, population 5,283. Has Bridget ever even heard of Carnarvon?
  13. Look at the price tag. Who needs a weapon that would cost more than the value of all the potential targets combined?
  14. I still think you are wrong about Grundig.

    Gun Nuttery

I didn't grow up around guns. I'm a city boy...no wild pigs to contend with. My dad wasn't a hunter; never owned a gun in his life. I learned how to shoot in the Army. Fired that M-1, but found the M-14 more accurate. My real weapon of choice was an 8 inch howitzer...very accurate and fired from a respectable distance. I was 70 years old before I purchased a personal weapon...Ruger SP101: I moved out of the city. Despite a good security system in our new home, I wanted more protection. I have a carry permit, but generally leave the revolver at home. I don't go to places where I'm likely to need it and I still haven't seen a wild pig. ₪₪₪₪₪₪ The current "gun control" debate has taken the expected turn toward political arguments, which will never provide a solution to the tragic incidents we witness all the time. (Multiple, non-self defense shootings occur about once weekly in the US.) If our politicians take the time to sit down and reason out what will actually work to curtail such shootings, then we may make some progress. But instead they will take the easy way out...pass legislation in haste based on poll results rather than consider the real issues: 1. Assault weapons serve no purpose in self-defense or putting food on the table. 2. Large capacity magazines serve no purpose in self-defense or putting food on the table. 3. It is possible to require registration of all weapons without infringing anyone's Second Amendment rights. 4. It can be made illegal to transfer a weapon without recording the transaction, gun shows and private sales included. 5. Mentally disturbed persons can be denied gun ownership and gun owners can be made responsible for keeping their guns away from the mentally disturbed and made criminally and financially liable for failing to do so. These are among the factors which should be considered, but the debate will lead us elsewhere. There will be lobbying and positioning and threats of un-Constitutional action, but there will be no effective solution. ₪₪₪₪₪₪ That nutcase from Tennessee has had his handgun permit suspended (Article). Responsible Tennessee gun owners like Lacey and me are the norm. And, Lacey, converts make the most devout rednecks.
  16. Who is more resourceful? Bridget or Trevor?

  18. Happy Birthday, Matt! Our birthdays are feathers in the broad wing of time. ~ Jean Paul Richter
  19. Sounds like the music industry here in Nashville, Chase. I wonder if that industry isn't the same everywhere. The operative word is "No".
  20. Goats use a calendar so flexible, it's practically limp. 5 minutes? Another example of caprid temporal flexibility.
  21. I've done my part. He has received chapter 146 from me. Don't know how much he has to do on it still.
  22. A real cutting edge consumer, Yang!
  23. He is OK. I heard from him again. His cold was a bad one plus his internet service has been out, but he is busily working on the next chapter.
