    Chapter 1

I tried not to make the heart attack foreshadowing too obvious, just in case!

    Prompt 438

Chapter 10 grabbed me, so I had to start right from the beginning! I particularly liked the subtle hints at growing thirst, and the elusive memories as he touched the mark. I also feel for the old vampire, a shadow of his former self, desperately trying not to give in. On to the next chapter!

    Unprompted

Wow, so sad to read, yet at the same time you can feel the strength of love, more powerful than the passage of time. Also, I'm a sucker for vampires, so yay!

    Chapter 1

It’s another goddamn beautiful winter day. I’m sitting at our bench, watching the lake as the minutes go by. The wind is frosty and nature around me is quiet. Sleeping. You would have probably said that there’s a serene kind of beauty to be found in the white stillness of December. The forest around me looks dead, but isn’t. Every single tree devoid of leaves hides deep within itself the promise of life for the future. Their trunks are cold as ice now, hard, yet that in itself is a testament to
  8. Saying goodbye can be hard. Remembering the good times can help, sometimes. Especially in the icy quiet of December. Andy is struggling to cope with the fact that his husband Michael has passed away. But Michael's last message, written in a letter, will surprise him.

Chapter 6 The pain brought me back. My hands were on fire. My skin was on fire. I had poured acid on my hand once in chemistry lab by mistake, but it had never burned like this. Every nerve ending in my body was a white-hot, vibrating, taut string of pain. I screamed and opened my eyes. Water. Around me. Bubbles floating in front of my vision. I tried moving my hands and panicked when I realized I couldn’t. The panic helped, though. The pain receded. Became manageable. I couldn’t see. Or
  10. omg - thanks, Puppilull! I have a not-so-hidden thing for BDSM and in this one I kinda went all in, lol. Hope you like it!
  11. Hey Valkyrie, I went ahead and sent you a copy anyway in case they delay in approving your request to join the group (it's not even necessary to join if you don't want to). I hope you like the story! Krista, sad to hear you won't have time, but if by chance you'd still like to read/maybe review later, please let me know! *If anyone else here is interested, just send me a PM and I'll send you a copy as well so you don't have to wait to join over there. *
  12. I have the secret suspicion my pillow hates me.
  13. Goodreads is hosting a giveaway of my book Bear Hunter in case you'd like a free copy in exchange for an honest review https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/17600493-live-bear-hunter-by-albert-nothlit---dbml-213 Here's the blurb! Bear Hunter Sven is on the run. He escaped to Alaska trying to get away, but the cops are still on his trail. Desperate, he kidnaps Matt and hides in his house. He has to keep Matt tied up, and Sven is surprised and turned on at the fact that he refuses to be intimidated. Matt fights back every single time, waiting for the moment to turn the tables. Every day of captivity, Sven gets to know Matt better. Enough to feel bad about what he's doing. He can't let his guard down, though. If he does, he knows Matt won't hesitate in getting his revenge. Any takers?
  14. Writer's block is awful (*sends virtual hug*). Glad to hear you're ready to write some more!
  15. Now is early Fall and I've found myself having many of these same thoughts as I watch nature's life wane - but wow, this poem puts it so much better. My favorite line is about Necropolis being our life's pilgrimage town... it makes me wonder. Is it a ruined city we'll find when we get there, or a beautiful Utopia?
  16. Thanks, Gary! My pillow has tried to kill me a couple times now, generating nightmares in the process.
  17. *whew!* I was afraid it would suck. thanks for the review!
  18. I was all al like, ooh, such a cool dream - then the jeans. wat. Either way, amazing job - having just tried to make one of these, I can appreciate the effort that goes into making it!
  19. Nightmare The city calls forth a mirage of smoke. Streets are traps of labyrinthine darkness. The wind blows, as if whispering madness or stirring the folds of a nighttime cloak. It’s useless to try and escape the yoke Binding me now to this awful blackness. I’m lost while the Earth spins on its axis Trapped till the time of the night clock’s last stroke. Suddenly, timid, a glimmer of light Beckoning fleetingly, a silent plea Offers to free me from this endless night. I just have
  20. Wow, right in the feels. 'Trapped in rain' is such a beautiful image, too.
  21. Apologies if the story is getting too freaky. I guess I haven't shaken off the Halloween vibe yet!
  22. I wouldn't keep my fingers crossed…
  23. It's been great fun so far to write each chapter and give free rein to my - admittedly - somewhat twisted imagination, lol.
  24. Nice! this is a great example of how powerful imagery can be created in just a few lines.
