I just found in my daily newspaper of today the amazing story of Roy and Silo, two male Chinstrap Penguins in New York's Central Park Zoo. For six years they formed a couple and were given an egg to raise. When zookeepers realized that Roy and Silo were both male, it occurred to them to give them an egg to hatch. An egg was obtained from a male-female penguin couple which had previously been unable to successfully hatch two eggs at once. Roy and Silo hatched and raised the healthy young chick, a female named "Tango" by keepers, together as a family! "Tango Makes Three" is a 2005 children's book written by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson and illustrated by Henry Cole, based on this penguin's story. The book has won many awards but also been at the center of numerous censorship and culture war debates on same-sex marriage, adoption and homosexuality. Co-author Justin Richardson, said : "We wrote the book to help parents teach children about same-sex parent families. It's no more an argument in favor of human gay relationships than it is a call for children to swallow their fish whole or sleep on rocks." New York Times (2005). Is this an old story and just an occasion for the correspondent of my newspaper in the States to write a "dead" article to justify his salary or is it still a present time's debate ? Hi James, I'm with you in your mourning. The first hours are the sadest. To evoke all the best moments you lived with your father helps sometimes. Now you are really adult. The loss of one's father is like to cross a river or a border. It's now your turn to be in front. A peaceful leaving is always a gift. It should be a consolation for those around him. Be strong, you are not alone. Old Bob

I understand and share your grief. But now, 10 years elder, I suppose you could come to a conclusion about this painful event : how to prevent such young kids to use a rifle, without the plain knowledge how to deal with ? I have nothing against guns and rifles in the hand of young people, but first they should be instructed by adults and controlled when they use it. Want to see what I mean : see "GhostRyder15's stories".

More or less . And the first experience is always the best. BTW, I did a lot, and would go on (if I could )

Me make here in Switzerland same experiences about outsourcing different services to indian or irish firms : accounting, tax follow ups, tel-, fax- and other call-centers, medicare services. On one side lower costs, on this other less adequate and less individual services. Our main problem : the language. Our business language here is French, and most of the outsource companies are english speaking.Among my friends and former clients, a lot stayed to outsourcing but went to work with local firms, with better and individualised services. BTW, at my age, I dont want to worry about my business. What I dont like to do, or what is too big for me, I too "outsource" it, working with "subcontractors". I made it since years, so maybe I'm one of the first outsourcers .

Changing Lanes Chapter 51 & Epilogue
old bob replied to Drewbie's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
I join my thanks to all the readers who could say it much better than I do. And BTW, I'm sure, after a well earned rest, James will bring us a new amazing story. He cannt live without that -
Global warming and climate changes are facts. to deny it is wrong.

I posted a few days ago some political engaged songs in the topic "Song Lyrics" and got an answer about the Woodstock festival (1969). Another even more important Festival was the Isle of Wight festival 1970).So I wanted to share with others my good memories of these old times. The Woodstock Festival) was a music festival, billed as "An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music", held in the rural town of Bethel, southwest of the town of Woodstock, from August 15 to August 18, 1969. During the sometimes rainy weekend, thirty-two acts performed outdoors in front of 500,000 concert-goers. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most pivotal moments in popular music history. See Woodstock The 1970 Isle of Wight Festival was by far the largest and most famous of these early festivals; indeed it was said at the time to be one of the largest human gatherings in the world, surpassing the attendance at Woodstock. Included in the line-up of over fifty performers were The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, The Doors, Ten Years After, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Joni Mitchell, The Moody Blues, Melanie, Donovan, Free, Chicago, Richie Havens, John Sebastian, Leonard Cohen, Jethro Tull, Taste and Tiny Tim. See Isle of Wight Both festivals were very important for my generation. I

It's really the best solution : to be teached in Karate, boxing or any other "defense skill". Just a memory of my own experiences in Middle school : It was during WWII, I was 13, a lot of parents of the other children in school were in favour of the Nazis and as Jew, to be bullied was almost normal. I was rather small for my age and my father brought me to learn French boxing and Jujutsu, a former, softer form of Karate. I had to use only once, and the bullying stopped. BTW, exercising such a sport is the best way to strengthen the character.

That's not the number of posts which counts, that's the content of each post and its quality . I'm proud of my 0.64%, but it is much more interesting to read posts of other members than to post myself. Long life to GA .

Just for my pleasure, here another song of the same kind : Where have all the flowers gone? Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls have picked them everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing? Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago? Where have all the young girls gone? Gone for husbands everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing? Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago? Where have all the husbands gone? Gone for soldiers everyone Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing? Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago? Where have all the soldiers gone? Gone to graveyards, everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing? Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago? Where have all the graveyards gone? Gone to flowers, everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn? Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing? Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago? Where have all the flowers gone? Young girls have picked them everyone. Oh, when will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn?

Political engaged songs and singers About times we were fighting for peace The 40th anniversary of Woodstock (If you don’t know about it, look at Jimi Hendrix and listen. I remember me old times, when young people in the States had Ideals and tried to fight and live in accordance with it. I remember Peter, Paul and Mary, performing on April 24, 1971 at a peace march in Washington DC. The anti-war march was to protest the Vietnam War. They sang "Blowing in the Wind" and "Give Peace A Chance". See "How may times... I remember this song from Bob Dylan : “Blowin' In The Wind” How many roads must a man walk down Before you call him a man? Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail Before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly Before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. How many years can a mountain exist Before it's washed to the sea? Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist Before they're allowed to be free? Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head, Pretending he just doesn't see? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. How many times must a man look up Before he can see the sky? Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have Before he can hear people cry? Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind, The answer is blowin' in the wind. This is an obscure Bob Dylan song called "With God on our side" that addresses the paradoxical mindset of those who believe that God backs their actions in war. It's one of the most moving songs that I've heard: "With God on our side" Oh my name it is nothin' My age it means less The country I come from Is called the Midwest I's taught and brought up there The laws to abide And the land that I live in Has God on its side. Oh the history books tell it They tell it so well The cavalries charged The Indians fell The cavalries charged The Indians died Oh the country was young With God on its side. The Spanish-American War had its day And the Civil War too Was soon laid away And the names of the heroes I was made to memorize With guns in their hands And God on their side. The First World War, boys It came and it went The reason for fighting I never did get But I learned to accept it Accept it with pride For you don't count the dead When God's on your side. When the Second World War Came to an end We forgave the Germans And then we were friends Though they murdered six million In the ovens they fried The Germans now too Have God on their side. I've learned to hate Russians All through my whole life If another war comes It's them we must fight To hate them and fear them To run and to hide And accept it all bravely With God on my side. But now we got weapons Of the chemical dust If fire them we're forced to Then fire them we must One push of the button And a shot the world wide And you never ask questions When God's on your side. In a many dark hour I've been thinkin' about this That Jesus Christ Was betrayed by a kiss But I can't think for you You'll have to decide Whether Judas Iscariot Had God on his side. So now as I'm leavin' I'm weary as Hell The confusion I'm feelin' Ain't no tongue can tell The words fill my head And fall to the floor If God's on our side He'll stop the next war. Today, nobody is listen these songs anymore. But we should. "Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases." -Thomas Jefferson

very interesting distinction ! . So I made further researches about the different men's swim suits. I didnt know they are so many : * Board Shorts * Midcut * Square Cut * Swim Bikinis * Swim Briefs * Swim Thongs Want to learn more about it ? Go to men's swim suits and enjoy .

I'm not silly ! The picture was taken in June (see the wineyards in front) The "Sea" behind is the "Lake of Geneva". It's a secret place, like a lot of others around the lake.

sorry to ask, but what is the difference between speedos and mini trunks ? Any more pictures to show better what you mean ?
-
Hahaha ! At least, when today I go skinny-dipping, from time to time, I go to an isolated beach, and when I'm sure to be alone, I enjoy swimming without speedo. Age has nothing to do with it, just checking there is nobody around .
-
Oh yes it is . The last speedos I bought some years ago are too small now . (very) old Bob

Excellent, excellent chapter, CJ!! :worship: As usual with CJ, the next ones will be the same. BTW, Israel in this story seems to be more like the Israel of a few years ago and not the Israel of today, with its internal perpetual political fightings .

I'm a "cultural" Jew, married with a catholic woman, in the middle of a Calvinist town, describing myself as "Deist",going sometimes in churches just for the fine music (I like organ music and choirs). Lacey's words, particulary those I write in black, are also mine. BTW, just to say, even if some people will disagree, what I dont like, in christian religions of any kind and Islam, is the "Mission" spirit, the need to influence others to join their groups. At least, it is something I cannot reproach to the orthodox Jews ! Freedom to be what you want to be, freedom to choose your belief, even if you prefer not to choose one, is a natural right. Nobody has a right to try to persuade me to change my mind (Sorry if I'm too frank in this matter, but it had to be said ) .

Gay or straight, men are men and "sex" life and "sex"places belong to our humanity. Each good side has its shadow. Hide it is non-sense. Cruising is the shadow of gay loneliness. I did too, and it's part of my good memories.

Hey, all these comments about old, wise and sage made me laugh . I'm the best example that age has nothing to do with wisdom even if I havent share a lot of posts or comments with you, I'm proud that you found in GA something to be happier than without. My only participation in forums consists in bringing old memories from the past and trying to take the best of it for the future. "Peace and Love" to you, as the hippies of 1969 said and lived during the 3 days of Woodstock (August 15th to 17th, 1969).I was 40 than, and my eldest sons were 17 and 13. Nice memories . Take care of yourself, and PM if you want to ask. (very)old Bob

wow ! "I'm happy that my poll brought such clever answers". On the other side, you cannot underestimate the daily difficulties you have to follow these advises. Theory is much easier than praxis. BTW, I tried to remember the answers I would have brought 62 years ago, when I was 18. For instance, I would answer to the second question : "a joke" ....and certainly not "to find a partner" at the first place .

Life is sometimes sad. Bad days are followed by good ones and our moods often change. If young or old, we have all our expectations of how our lives should be on a long range. I remember my young years and what I expected from my future. As I got older, I understood to be less presumptuous and to be content with what I got. Life teaches you to be modest. How is it for you?
