On the Bridge
We met upon the bridge
you and I,
one walking through the high grass,
while a thousand long beards whispered disapproval against bare biceps,
the other scuffing brown and orange leaves which gossiped
and blushed at what they heard.
As equals we leant against the railing,
near the middle, where last February’s sand washed up.
The breeze spoke from the southwest, promising a change,
and our songs floated, so dif
What an amazing experience you conveyed in this poem. I feel the awe and wonder of the encounter. Thank you for giving me just a taste of what you must have felt.
How do we score tickets to watch Chipper in the next round? Another great chapter in which you place us right in the action. Awesome. And those shoes wouldn’t be in your closet, would they?
Bliss let Chipper down easy, maybe. What has been described has been pure fun, but not much more than that. They must both be planning for a rewarding career, as the conversation with Ethan and Miles showed. Let’s just hope we’ve seen the last of Mr. Nalbo.
Thank you @Carlos Hazday, for gathering these insights and letting us learn from them. Thanks to you, and to@Mikiesboy, @AC Benus @northie and @Geron Kees for responding. I’m grateful for some important reminders here about writing.
Freddie’s the friend Simon seems to need. With him, he can talk and be himself. And perhaps Simon will heed Freddie’s warnings about his dad. It really sounds awful. But yes, Simon, you can live without a phone.
So much that’s good to read and hear in these. I loved your haiku, as each successive one brought a fond image to mind. I could feel your heartbeat, strong and alive, in the lines Woke, and in An Ant Can too. Sometimes our heart is what we need to hear. Thanks for sharing yours.
It’s savvy of Chipper to make sure his social media are relatively clean. Employers, Universities and Sponsors all care about matching image and social media presence. He’s definitely hitting the big time as he gets offers from big names. Chipper will be in the spotlight for good.
You’ve written characters that are easy to love and hard to hate, even when they’re stubborn and mulish and wrong. Each one is hurting now, and healing is going to take time. But I hope that healing will come for each of them. You’ll write that, too, right? Please?
Simon has fallen in clover. His new friends seem like they listen to him and accept him. And they stick together, too. The only problem is his lurking father. He doesn’t get the message, does he?
Ethan is a great friend to come out and support Chipper. We should all have friends like this. But the two of them with Bryce and Zion? Oh, my. And even if Chipper isn’t sure if he wants to win, I certainly want him to. Great chapter!
Awesome chapter. I’m looking forward to both Mason and Jeremy talking to Clay. More important is Greg’s generous instinct to ask Orson to join them. That’s what made me smile most.
Now that’s a great chapter. Thanks for showing us another side of Chipper’s talents. He’s got the judges on his side. Now maybe America will be there too.
