  1. I'm very, very grateful you chose to read this. I'm also sorry I missed seeing your comment. It was indeed an odd prompt, but tackling it really forced me to be creative. I've been in a writing rut lately, so perhaps it helped some. That you want to make better acquaintance with these characters brings a smile to my face. Thanks for reading, and for your patience.

    From Within

Wow! Incredible! What a dramatic storm and battle! Stravor is sent to battle the god he has served with a Searcher’s sword - will his soul go willingly to war with Hemothracene? Will it ever find Keter’s? Or return as his father hopes? So many unanswered questions. I’m going to be eagerly watching for the next chapter!
  3. You do a great job interweaving stories we know with this new chapter. It’s a wonderful technicolor movie of Chipper’s fast paced life.

    Peace

Wow. I made the mistake of reading this right before bed. Not sure how I’ll sleep, given the excitement of this chapter. Well done!
  5. Simon was right to run. The hysterical father ranting homophobic nonsense could not begin to have some semblance of reasoned discussion. The father wants everyone to experience his own understanding of what God might be his way. That’s just bullying and foolishness. More troubling is what the father might do to pry Simon out of his mother’s care.
  6. Thanks so much for reading these; still more for your response. You’re probably right that a second opinion can stop the reverberations in my internal echo chamber.
  7. Thanks for reading these. Michaelmas Daisies made me think of you, particularly. You’re right about the mirror, I know it. Some mornings it’s just harder to believe; I know many of us go through that, too. I will be okay. xo P
  8. Your hugs arrived, warm and much appreciated. The middle poem in this set helped deal with a fearsomely bad day or two. The laundry image was too good to pass up, and my thanks go to @AC Benus for his encouraging me to flesh the idea out. Autumn weather brings its own challenges, but it is welcome, nonetheless. Thanks very much for reading these, and for your very kind comments.
  9. I think you’re right about the power of sunlight for change. Hope and love are powerful lights indeed. Coffee, too, is an elixir, though I have had to wean myself from sugar. I’m happy Dirty Laundry provoked your thoughts. Thank you so very much for reading this, and for your kind responses.
  10. A cranky dryer was inspiration for this one. It takes only a few tussles with the laundry line to propel the mind to poetry. Too many worries and too little sleep is never a good combination. The mirror cannot look it’s best under those circumstances. But the northwest wind blowing down from Canada pushed away the clouds and heat, and with it, the oppression I’ve been feeling. Thank you for your kind thoughts, and for reading these.
  11. We carry with us our own internal symphonies, I think. It’s good that we still count the measures of our rest. I’m glad you liked the ideas that come to mind in Inspiration. That poem appeared unexpectedly, from left field, as it were. Thanks so much for your comments and thoughts.
  12. Thanks for reading, Val. You’re most kind.
  13. Your hugs are felt across the ether, and much appreciated my friend. Thank you so much for reading these.
  14. I enjoyed I&C immensely. How wonderful it is to see it reviewed here.
  15. Dirty Laundry I feel as if I carry life balanced precariously, like unruly armloads of laundry too long neglected and too much to bear through long corridors and descending steep steel staircases; far too frequently, a stray sock or battered buttondown, a torn tee-shirt, or, god forbid, underwear, fall as frayed fragments of my existence, marking the downward journey of my days to my neighbors.

    Battle Round

Reading this chapter is better than watching it live would have been. Adam made a tough decision. And the beginning of this chapter is an amazing example of suggestive ambiguity...
  17. Today I read the chapter Into the Storm from @Mikiesboy's awesome book The Searcher. This chapter reminded me of this piece of music - both get to my heart.
  18. I’m very glad these fired images in your mind’s eye. It seems autumn is a fertile time for writing. Thank you so very much for reading and commenting.

    Into The Storm

This chapter is unbearably sad. Keter is incredibly brave. He submits even to a death he neither wants nor understands for the love of his man. Stravor is changed by this task - his love for Keter appears to consume him, even as his god has consumed the world. I do not know what more you have planned for us in this tale, but I wish for hope. Like Stravor, I miss Keter already.

    Camper Van

I’ll echo the others: watch out, Chipper. On the other hand, the two models are incredibly hot. I thought Coachella had dry heat, but this was pretty steamy.
  21. Thank you, Val. Sometimes I wonder if it’s my bones groaning louder than my voice when I get up off my knees in the garden...
  22. Thank you, tim. I’m so glad Inspiration connected with you. That one came all unexpected, in a flash that literally had to be written on a napkin. And Live Poets is awesome.
  23. It’s a marvelous form, capable of dramatic arc, yet succinct. Its length allows the voice (if one is reading aloud, or the inner ear if one is not) to develop cadence and dynamics, like a motet. You’re very kind in your comments, as you recognize my rhythms and devices perfectly.
  24. I’m glad On Rising brought images to your mind, so you could see September mornings as I have. Thank you very much for reading!
  25. Thanks Dugh. There is music in our creaking bones.
