  1. On Inspiration Some poems come straight out of left field, others have pedigree and bloodlines stretching generations back to the Mayflower; but each one surprises in its way, delighting eye and ear with its song. On Age I cringe at my interior noise; the cacophony of my existence - ringing ears, wheezing lungs, bones clacking in their joints - but I would not trade this Gamelan of age's i

    In Winter

I love the way you contrast the natural world with our own technological one. The land covered in stone and texting gloves are perfect symbols of this. You make me appreciate the sounds I’m hearing overhead all the more.

    Packleader

I very much enjoyed the dissertation. No need to be sorry. This insight into the story is very much appreciated.

    Packleader

Hmmm. Joan is a pack leader. Is she going to try and claim Jed, too? And what will become of Daniel, now that he has submitted? I wonder deeply if there is something very, very odd going on here. The contrast of utter trust between Wolfgang and Jed versus the control Joan needs over Daniel is a big clue.

    Sparrow

Exactly. I’m a fan of ambiguity.

Loved the images this brought to mind. Thanks for posting this...

    Clay

I enjoyed this chapter. Clay kind of snuck up on Greg. Now he’s got to figure out what to do, and how to be. And what is Mason thinking?

    Chapter 7

This is a gut wrenching chapter in the complicated, tortured world of Kevin Malley. I’m really enjoying this. Each chapter is worth waiting for.

    Jam Session

This chapter makes me grin a mile wide. Chipper has a fantastic visit to Coachella, including a chance to jam with big name artists. What a great coach Adam is turning out to be. And you had to throw us a blond surfer stud... oh my.

Niki is the best. Where are more wonderful people like that? Simon’s mum is right to be concerned- in fact, she can’t really help it - but Niki is right: vetting a boyfriend would have filtered Max right out, and saved Simon a lot of heartache.
  11. Re-reading this made it only better still. You give such reality to this fantasy world.
  12. Oh, my. How many bids?
  13. I loved this chapter - I know it’s one I’ll read and re-read. Stravor’s head and heart and spirit are ever more vulnerable...
  14. Chipper’s awesome blind audition probably made more than four heads turn. I can imagine the home audience reaction, too. Who wouldn’t want to coach Chipper?
  15. This is an awesome thing to share. Thank you for writing it out.

    Chapter 2

I have enjoyed chapters 1 and 2. Mark and Mickey are getting to know one another. In fact, I'd say you've made them indispensable to each other as friends. Now if Jimmy would just butt out...

    Wednesday

This sounds so real, so like pages from a book of life I know too well. I feel for Simon, truly.

    Party

I’m very grateful you took time to read this, and it makes me glad you enjoyed it.
  19. I like the images you brought to mind in this.
  20. Your poetry often resonates with me, and this one did so especially. You give voice to the vexation and discontent I feel at so much I see and hear. Yet I know you are loved beyond price by many who read your poems, including me.
  21. I’m so very sorry, molly. I weep for these losses, and for your hurts.

    Chapter 4

I’m enjoying this ride, wherever you’re taking us. Looking forward to the next chapter!
  23. Great, tumultuous chapter. Chipper’s psyche must feel like he’s on a roller coaster. How can he prepare for the contest properly? Looking forward to the next chapter.

    The Answer

I love this poem, for it tells itself as a compelling story. It sounds so natural to my ear.

    First Steps

The journey begins, and Keter is revealed to us as one with powers we cannot know. Stravor is not omniscient, or omnipotent, though he pretends otherwise. The will of his god is to see Keter killed on a far-off altar. It’s almost biblical. I’m becoming absorbed into this world and tale which you paint so vividly. Can’t wait for the next chapter.
