Che cosa succedendo qui? Do me a favor and get out of town for a weekend? This all seems fishier than a trawler full of mackerel. Paul is absolutely right to be annoyed, and is a prince for hanging on to Corbin anyway. Great chapter.
A good friend of mine always counseled: “never make any major life decisions in February.” Given the gloom, it’s good advice. Thanks so much for reading these, and for your thoughts.
February is such a long month for having so few days. The light lengthens ever so slowly; and it’s easy for me to remain feeling dark even as the dawn comes ever earlier. Thanks for reading these, and for your comments.
Thank you, Gary for reading these. February in our part of the world can make anyone blue. They sing a song that does not see the light that’s coming. March is a much more hopeful month...
One.
Would you be hurt if I were gone,
my spirit fled before the dawn
without a forwarding address,
my life a brief phenomenon?
I would not leave you in distress,
ungrateful for your tenderness,
yet if you sigh and turn the page,
I could not love you any less.
Mortality, at any stage,
makes some to weep and others rage,
but I seem otherwise inclined
to contemplate the end of age.
I know this falls to humankind,
Stefano Moretti is hot on the trail. Harris found his family’s murderers and killed them brutally. Who is going to find who first? And what does Luca have to do with any of this? This chapter raises tons of questions to which I would love answers very soon, please.
The feel of this is so nineteenth century. I shall need my pipe and smoking jacket for the next chapter, which I hope will fascinate as much as the first.
Your cat characterizations are spot on. Both felines are adept at manipulating their young, naive human. They know precisely how to get the most out of life with Hunter.
Well, we certainly got to enjoy a hot breakfast. More than that, we got to enjoy Corbin expanding his circle of friends to include those who love Paul. You showed this very well. The cleaner at Harris’ apartment was terribly ominous, though. The clouds on the horizon are piling up.
There is nothing more happy than the unaffected grin of a teen. I imagined that in your very last line. This was a great chapter, full of anticipation and hope, along with plans for the changing future. I only hate to think I have to wait a week for more.
You have a remarkable way of showing us how time passes without making it a tedious affair; you turn months into memorable moments. I enjoyed this chapter; can’t wait until I can get my hands in a bottle of Liston myself. That is, if they ever export.
You ramped up my adrenaline and stress level right away. Your writing is far too good. This is a good thing, as I then experienced some relief later on. You also bring us all into the long slow realization of the tough road ahead for Brad, and the love of the people behind him who will be with him every step of the way. A tough chapter, very well written.
