  1. THAT was a great program. We watched the original one. My Husband is English so we watch a lot of British programming.
  2. i personally don't wear pj's but i can see this being a thing: Have a terrific day!!!
  3. That is exactly why the tags/genre info is recommended both for the author and the reader. You can hardly blame the author, if the tags are there but not used. This story is compelling and very well-written. Frankly, I found this story realistic when I first read it. I feel the paranormal aspects of this story were introduced properly over time, as the main character himself wasn't fully aware he had any special 'talents' in that area.
  4. Another great chapter. We see Rupert on his home turf. Meet Melanie and experience her disappointment and happiness as she finds a new friend willing to help her in her quest to find a fit straight man! This chapter contains some excellent hints and touches of realism and is, as always, very balanced. Excellent!
  5. Nope, even you can't make me talk!
  6. i hope it will be or i'll be fired! LOL
  7. okay... beef stew is in the oven stewing.. for a few hours .. i couldn't fit it in the IP. Maybe i just need a bigger IP now that there are more of us.. It'll do nice in the oven though. It's for dinner tomorrow and maybe Tuesday if it's not all devoured!
  8. i just use a frying pan...lol Enjoy your salad and sandwiches!
  9. Excellent chapter. As @akascrubber said so well, both Mike and Jamie were tested and survived together. You're building their stories beautifully.
  10. I agree, but the passive voice still has its uses and should still be part of your writing toolbox. As with show vs. tell, I'm not a believer in the all-or-nothing approach to writing.
  11. It's windy and raining in Toronto. Temperature is about 44f. So overcast and grotty. Cooking your own food is the best option if you have the skills. We need to bring back teaching those skills in school. They are important in the face of the cost of food and the health/nutrition issues with highly processed food. Let's not forget skimpflation as well! I have no idea what to make the Men for dinner other than grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. Saturdays are supposed to be a less stressful day with something light for dinner.

It is wonderful. i'm very lucky not to have to do paid work. 2024 will be challenging for you. That sounds like a great idea and a brave one but why not? i hope your new company brings you much success and fulfillment!

    The Offer

I'm not sure which is more entertaining, the story or the comments! In any case, this is another excellent chapter in a wonderful story. The powers that be walk over everyone roughshod, as they are wont to do. Jamie and, ultimately, Mike are left picking up the pieces and trying to find a way to remain together. Mike is in the dark and can only trust his partner. Jamie has some understanding of the situation but is not in the same ballpark as Morris-Walker and Mwangi, who play for opposing teams. As noted by @Paladin ... it is a tangled web, one I enjoyed when I read it the first time and now for the second.

You're right. i do feel happier and more content. i'm definitely less stressed. Thank you for your support as well. I value it very much ... and not just because of the love of donuts we share, as great and amazing as that is.

Thank you, chris. i feel happier and am more relaxed. i get more exercise and sleep better for the most part. Also, thanks for your support. i think most of the authors on GA feel the same way.
  19. Hmmm, what would happen to a chocolate bar stuffed into his running shorts?

So, as some of you know, I stopped working on September 1, 2023. I didn't really retire; I can't do that for twenty-fourish years, but I did quit doing paid work. I realize I'm very lucky to have this opportunity. I am grateful to my Husband, Michael, for making that happen. So, what do I do with myself? Not a lot. I spend time at home, looking after the house, and with spring here, there's the garden, which will keep me busy. I've completed a few knitting projects and have started to make my first sweater. That's fun. I will try to read more completed works on GA. Authors need support and feedback. I've blogged about this before, but authors should support each other the best we can. I've written a bit and hope to write more poetry. I posted five for the 2024 poetry Antho. I'm working with an editor on a longer piece, which is complete but still in editing. I've started another dystopian-type piece, which I hope will be ready for the anthology in October (I think). I've also edited a story with a new GA author, which has turned out to be an excellent and well-told story with the help of another GA author who beta-read. Not working has been good for my health, especially my mental health. i have been thinking about what more i can do. i'm happy to help around GA. i hope to post more. i'm also considering volunteer work and looking at options. I know many people have no choice but to work. I felt some guilt about that, and I still do, but hopefully, my job went to someone who needed it.
  21. I posted my submission. I've had a couple of budding poets reach out to me directly and i hope they will post their work also! It's great to see more people writing poetry and a special anthology for it. Thank you!
  22. Well... poetry submission for the Anthology is done. That's always nerve wracking for me. i need a valium. LOL Happy Thursday! Looks nice out there today. Blue skies, no howling winds ... Enjoy your day!
