Together, we gazed up toward the heavens only to lower our heads and sigh in unison. The sky was overcast, and the fourteen inch Dobsonion telescope wasn't going to be of any use. "Do you know what we need?" I asked. "- A weather machine." There was really nothing we could do about the weather of course, but then, unfavorable weather didn't mean our trip had to be for nothing. Besides, we’d be there for a week; the clouds were bound to clear up eventually. "Come and get me, and I'll chan

A love poem by a teenaged me, in French and English

Dmitri moved on with his life, he met someone new, he was more or less happy... and then his ex came crashing back into his life, with the son he once thought of as his own and a drug lord hot on his trail. Now Dmitri is charged with the care of a five year old boy, has to evade gangsters, dirty cops, clean cops, and nosey neighbors all the while trying to keep his relationship with his lover together as he unveils webs of lies and conspiracies.

“Alright, we’re home. Let’s get you inside and put your bed together,” Dmitri said with an enthusiasm he was beginning to find common when he was talking to Aaron. “Okay,” Aaron answered simply but with a happy tone in his voice. Having typically slept on a couch or on the floor, he hadn’t really had his own bed since he was in a crib. He was excited. After giving Aaron a couple hours’ time to play in the park with his new friend, Dmitri had taken him to a store to buy a bed for his room. To

Dmitri’s eyes snapped open. “You told me you’d never slept with a woman!” Garret accused, raising his voice. “I didn’t.” Dmitri responded, a little more testily than he might have if he weren’t just waking up. “Then why does this child think you’re his father?” Garret asked, his voice still accusatory. “It’s … complicated,” Dmitri answered, sitting up and scooting back on the bed. “Well, you’d better start

Rousing from his sleep, Dmitri opened his eyes in the dim light and smiled - seeing again the gorgeous man he’d come to love, sleeping peacefully in his arms. He glanced over at the clock and seeing it was 3:09 am, wondered why he was awake. Then he heard a loud knocking at the door. “Oh come on,” Dmitri muttered, pulling away from his partner, throwing on a pair of boxers, the first pair of slacks he could find and a white cotton t-shirt. The knocking came again and he could hear his lover,

“Thank you for bringing me here,” Nathan whispered seductively into David’s ear before returning his head to David’s shoulder and wrapping his arms around David once more. David smiled, tilted his head, and kissed Nathan on the forehead in return while laying one strong arm around his husband’s shoulders and pulling him in tight. Like this, they watched as the last rays of sunlight set beyond the distant horizon, as the oranges, reds, and pinks faded from one side of the sky to the other, traili

“Come on, it’s just a little further!” called out David to Nathan. “You said that an hour ago!” Nathan protested, but only half-heartedly. He may have been a little tired from all the hiking they had been doing, but he loved every minute of it. The wild mountain air was such a refreshing contrast to the stuffy climate he was used to, and out in the mountains he felt so much freer. Here, the only thing he had to worry about was tripping over a rock, and he was already much better at avoiding t

“God Damn, I’ve got me one sexy man” thought Nathan as he opened the screen door of a quiet mountain cabin and stepped onto a wrap around patio-deck, carrying a glass of lemonade. He looked around for a few seconds, taking in the scenery, but his eyes returned once again to his lover. They were in what was unquestionably one of the most beautiful places in the country, an area littered with peaks, valleys, rushing streams, and stunning vistas, but to Nathan, no scenery could ever compare to the

Nathan and David were badly in need of a vacation. This is a peak into their little get-away. Enjoy!

Staring out the window, I wondered just what was in store for me. “Runaway” was my new label now. I might not be running, actually I was sitting very comfortably, in what had to be one of the most luxurious booth-seats ever invented. I was relaxing in the rear car of one of the new high speed trains and calmly taking in the scenery as it passed by the window. No, I wasn’t running, but I was definitely going far away from home, or at least what had passed for home. That place had not been a home

I was done with it. I would not take it anymore. I would not take the slurs, I would not take the beatings, I would not take the yelling, I would not bare their hatred one moment longer. I took all the money I had and bought a bus ticket to Liberty Island. Sure, laws have changed so that gays have equal rights and the US Supreme Court even overruled more than half the state constitutions to force the bigotry out of the government, but you can’t force it out of people’s hearts and minds, and my p

A young man, fed up with his abusive parents and fearing they would have him shipped to an offshore torture facility leaves home to start his life elsewhere, only to get caught up in events well beyond his control.

Looks and personality both matter in varying degrees. My standards require the person be of at least average appearance and not possessing personality traits in the extreme negatives of abusiveness, desire to be abused, and egocentric to the point of indifference to my concerns or on the flipside selfless to the point of having no opinion or desires of their own. There needs to be both flexibility and willingness to be assertive at times. Relationships where one person makes all the decisions suck. Whether thats because one person insists on making all the decisions or because the other person refuses to make any decision, its a bad relationship to be in.

The question of which is better is more a matter of which group does a better job of targetting a wide age range and offers a wide variety in genre. You can pretty much divide American cartoons into three age groups - the very young children, the 8-11 age group, and older teens/adults. American cartoons are numerous and competitive for the very young children and the 8-11 group... but then they drop the ball. Specifically, there really aren't many current american cartoons (none even come to mind) that offer story arcs with character development in a format that is generally dramatic with the flexibility for comic relief and action which target older children and young teens. American children's cartoons are largely silly and often wildly fantastical in nature, which is great for young kids but neglects complete the niche of boys who want to see a good guy kick the bad guy's ass. When it comes to adult-targetted cartoons, well there are only three that come to mind - american dad, family guy, and south park - all of which are comedy. Japanese anime has been absorbed into our culture because there is a missing niche of cartoons to target older children and younger teens. Particularly boys. Boys want action, adventure, saving the day, and very importantly - kicking the bad guy's ass. Anime is chock full of bad guys ass kicking. Where our culture has shied away from any kind of violence shown to our children and our cartoon-makers are generally complying... action-based anime is filling in that void because there is still and always will be a market amongst boys for seeing the bad guys get their asses kicked.. The anime target audience doesn't stop there though, it continues on with anime that carries on interesting story arcs and character development as well as the all-important action... targetting mid teens to young adults. Teens who watched the anime targetted toward younger audiences continue watching anime targetted to older audiences as they grow older. There's no American competition for it in cartoons. You have to go back to shows like the old x-men and spiderman cartoons to even get close, and even these are still targetted to children, not adults and older teens. The only market american cartoons bother to compete for after the 8-11 age bracket is in adult comedy, where you see very successful shows like family guy and south park. So whether you think American cartoons are better or Japanese cartoons are better really comes down to what criteria you want to judge by. If we use the criteria of market and genre coverage, then American cartoons are at least as good as anime if not better for the young children and 8-11 markets. Following that though, anime simply offers better genre coverage and practically monopolizes the market for cartoons for older children and young teens. At the adult level, comedy is the only genre where American cartoons are all that competitive in, but even then there are still very few successful american cartoons targetted to adults, and most cartoon-viewing adults also watch anime, so overall I'd say the Japanese are showing themselves to be better cartoon-makers. Summary: American cartoons are too narrow in genre and target audience.

I'm probably the odd man out on this subject but I actually prefer the male body not to be ever shaved below the neck. The reason is simple... cuddling with sandpaper skin just isn't fun. However, passionate man that I am... when I go about kissing all over the body... its skin I want to kiss, not fur. Accordingly, clippers with a guard on them are how I prefer to handle the hair situation below the neck with the dual exception of the balls and the perianal region - there a razor is still more appropriate.

Haha, I totally mistook this as a reference to a porn site.

My experience in co-ed public education was that the teachers (invariably female with the exception of one gym coach in elementary school) put more emphasis on educating the girls. Girls were smart, boys were dumb, that was to be the way of things. Girls who achieved well were celebrated, boys who did well (such as myself) were pretty much shrugged at by the teachers and looked at weird by the students. And of course, if boys did well and girls didn't do as well, that was frowned upon. When girls did well and boys did poorly, it was cause for celebration. Frankly I'm still very bitter over that to this day and I believe I would have done much better in an all-boys setting. In fact, I can recall from the bible-classes when I was still going to church, much the same atmosphere arose during the co-ed classes.... when I got older and the classes became sex-separated I remember being a lot happier, even wanting to go and enjoying myself because there was no "you're not as good as the tits next to you" mentality being pushed.

I'd go with your second option in this situation to make sure readers understand you're the one finishing the story.

April 30, 2010 I've just completed a good run. I always feel well afterward, if a bit parched since I don't have a water bottle. I'll be fixing that soon, hopefully. I've been meaning to work out more regularly and I've decided that today will mark day zero for that effort. My goal is to eventually do two miles in fifteen minutes, and twenty minutes of running total. Today I got maybe a mile and a half before the fifteen minute mark and my lower legs felt like they were burning, but I did meet my goal of at least doing a fifteen minute run today. My neighbor moved out and I inherited a bunch of furniture from her. Now my apartment almost feels like a home. It certainly looks more like one now when you first walk in. I still need to get myself a proper bed though. I'm tired of sleeping on a small mattress on the floor or the futon in the living room. Anyway, she gave me a love seat, a tv-stand, a couple of end tables, a box full of glasses, and some porch furniture
