    Chapter 1

Thanks Lisa! No tearjerker this time. That one drained me too so you're safe for a while :_) To my mind Wayne was so 'beaten' as a result of his treatment at home that he just accepted it until he was presented with the opportunity to escape. Geron does tend to write longer stories than I do - but I like them!

Thanks for the review and the comments CG. Glad you enjoyed. No offence to Texas or Texans, but I know it is one state I can set such happenings with a degree of confidence that they just could have happened.

Hi Jay, Thanks for the comments. It's good to know that my story got you in that way. It was inspired by a picture that dictated the ending and the rest fortunately sort of fell into place. Ivor.

    Chapter 1

Thanks Geron! You know I have a liking for the lone star state.
  5. Wayne Jackson had known for maybe three years or so that he was gay. The problem was that for nearly all of those years it had been something he had needed to keep secret. It was only in the past few months that he had come out to initially, just one person, and subsequently to that person’s family – but not his own. Oh boy, definitely not his own! Wayne was now sixteen and he had been harboring his secret for since….well, since he was found out. That had happened when he was thirteen. It had b

    Chapter 1

A Dutch word that gives a very wrong impression when looked at in English, for there is little 'merrie' about the All Hallow's nights that Coby and his new found friend David experience. Instead they are plunged into virtually a battle as characters from Amsterdam's history suddenly come back to life. A very gripping read.

    A Ride Home

Hi Columbus Guy, I'm coming to this with a lot of chapters to read, but based on this one it sure looks as if I'm going to be enjoying myself. An excellent start and I'm connecting with Miles already.

Wow Lisa! You sure know how to start a guy's day off with a bang :-) I'm sort of sorry that you had to cry yourself to sleep, but if it helps at all I'll admit to having a few tears myself while I was writing it. I can only hope that the next story I post here you will consider at least half as good as this one. Thanks again for such an enthusiastic review and welcome to the site. Ivor.

Thanks for the review Valkyrie and for the welcome. As far as I know Renouf does not mean any sort of lily in French. As I said to CNC the hint to his first name was Jake standing outside the chapel holding a lily coupled with the story title. While Lilian is a known boys name in France it is not known in England and any boy with that name is almost certainly going to be derided as the known name is Lillian - for girls.

Hi CNC, Thanks for getting in touch and letting me know that you liked this story. In some ways I'm quite glad if readers don't figure out that Ren's first name was Lilian. The big hint was with Jake standing outside the chapel holding a single lily and the story title. Regards. Ivor.

    Chapter 1

I was fortunate to read this in another place before it arrived here, so Geron knows how much I enjoyed it. The story drew me in and although it is many years since I have been in Amsterdam, I was luckily able to picture some of the locations while worrying what might happen to Mooi.

Hi, Columbus Guy: I appreciate the invite you gave and although I've had a bit of trouble working out the GA system, I'm glad I've finally arrived. Your comments on this story are very generous considering the fact that it is, as Geron has said, poignant so I know it won't appeal to everyone. But then life can be like that, can't it? Much appreciated - thanks again.

  16. A move to a new home in a different town leaves 15 year old Jake unhappy but when he steps in to help another boy who is being bullied at school, his life changes.
  17. My Dad had one of those jobs where from time to time we had to move because he was working for a National company and as he moved up their ladder – rather appropriate as they are a tool hire company – we would move to a different part of the country. That had happened a lot when I was younger as we seemed to move every year or so, but we had been settled in one place for about three years. Consequently, I’d been able to build up a small group of friends and was also now doing well at school havi
