  1. Possible. I do a force refresh (usually ctrl-F5) fairly regularly as habit.
  2. Entirely depends on how site is configured. Gay Authors has our important files on the site only and not cached at other locations. so clearing the cache on your browser forces the browser to grab a new copy from GA.
  3. sounds like a browser cache issue for the visability thing. as for editing, no, "silent editing" is turned off so it shows edits for everyone.
  4. I'm seeing as well as @Marty Try clearing your cache in your browser.
  5. I'm not experiencing that on my my various browsers. Try clearing your cache in your browser to make sure you don't have a corrupted file in there. Does the problem still exist after clearing cache and reloading the site? If it does not, can you capture a screenshot of the problem and provide a link to a story where you are experiencing the issue?

    Re updates

I'm not experiencing that and there is not enough information to attempt to reproduce. What browser are you using? What OS? Where exactly are you experiencing the issue (include links)? Can you include a screenshot of what you mean? Also, trying clearing your cache in your browser to make sure you don't have a corrupted file in there. Does the problem still exist after clearing cache and reloading the site?
  7. I have alerted our programmer. Thank you for including all the information and screenshots. That makes it much easier to troubleshoot!
  8. @Timothy M. This was fixed during the update. https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/author/?member=18045&
  9. Hopefully, we'll only be down about an hour.
  10. probably if you cycle them to something, let it save, and then cycle back.
  11. After a discussion with the GA support team, we have changed ALL reactions to be +1. This is not retroactive. (I can't trigger the recount system as that would recount everything and likely remove from everyone's total due to removed content/members/etc.) @Headstall@Timothy M.

    Getting Started 2021

Thanks @Comicality! I read a lot of technical writing as part of my job and as a person focused on improving my skill sets. Most of what you end up reading is so cut and dry. One of the things I love about the articles you write for us here at Gay Authors is that you put whatever topic you are discussing into every day language and relate it to life experiences. My problem with getting started is the time thing. I have to rigidly manage my time for work, and by the time that's done, I just want to ignore the clock. Great article! I'm sure that it will nudge a few people forward

    MaryGary Sue

Amazing how much went wrong with the out of control Mary Sue situation in Star Wars since this topic was first posted. Here's an image for it:
  14. Some additional context: The default action of "Sad" and "Angry" is typically a down vote (-1). However, I have disabled all down voting on the site to avoid the issues that causes. Reactions are used across the site. It uses the forum software's system. Reactions in Stories are no different to reactions in the Forums. People in the forum use "Angry" most often when they are angry with the creator of a post/content or that they said. Most people view it that way as that is the internet 'default' so to speak. The reasoning behind the rankings Like (+1) - person liked the post/content. Love (+1) - person really liked the post/content HaHa (+1) - person found the post/content funny Wow (+1) - person was surprised by the content. (This could got either way, we acknowledge. good or bad surprise. but we emphasize the positive) Sad (+1) - person was saddend by the content. We made this positive because most times people use this reaction it is support the poster of the content Angry (0) - Person was upset by the content or the person posting the content. This was made neutral because pissing people off is not a plus. I read It (0) - This is an acknowledgement that the content was read. It was made neutral because if someone is flagging it as read, it's just an acknowledgement. If they liked it they would have liked it. if they were angry about, they would have chosen Angry. I've seen it most in forum posts and not on stories/chapters. @Headstall, I can see not liking the "I read it". I'm not fond of it myself when I see it on stories/chapters. But you can view it as an opportunity. Perhaps that reader didn't click with the chapter for whatever reason.... but they still took the effort to acknowledge they read it. Engagement comes on many levels and we can't all get everyone, every time.
