  1. "Yes" and "Yes, but" should always be in a DM's toolkit.
  2. Edit: Link doesn't work... never mind
  3. I'm stepping away from GA for a few. My public email is on my profile, but those that know my personal one will be answered faster. I'll answer PMs here too for a few days. I need to get my head straight, before I royally screw up.
  4. I've reread tim's stories a few times now, including how the two of you met. I swear it was providence and you two are meant for each other. It warms my heart to know people that have found love as precious as it is.
  5. I'll agree to disagree. Having experienced the receiving end of hatred such tests promote in certain writing circles, they are by far political instruments used to abused those that think differently. I almost completely gave up all writing after it happened. I so wanted to punch the lady that ripped up my hard copy of The Half-Elven Warlock because, "the main character is a gay male at an all boys school. This story is so sexist and misogynistic that I wouldn't wipe my ass with it." Their advice was to turn it into a trans MtF at an all girls school, then it might have some redeeming qualities and be relevant in this day and age. Just thinking about that shit is pissing me off. So, yeah, it was political.
  6. Well... this website that is about Authors and Writing, does have signs that say "partying" is only allowed in certain zones, and well, The Lounge is a no "party" zone.
  7. 820 is so going on the list.
  8. It's also why Twink and Bear porn is popular... or is that just me? 😛
  9. I wish you all the best of luck, Wayne. Just don't turn into one of those CrossFitters. They are almost as bad as militant Vegans.
  10. Random pic looking it up "Campfire at Night" on Google. I believe it's from Pixabay. It is a beautiful picture.
  11. This hasn't happened in a while... guess I'm in Nightwatch.
  12. On the topic of Flat Earthers... this is really sad, but saw this today: Daredevil "Mad" Mike Hughes Dies in Steam Rocket Crash Trying to Prove The Earth is Flat He was 64, and was being filmed for a show for the Science Channel about Amateur Astronauts. And a quote from him:
  13. If I'm ever in the Great White North, I'll look ya up for a Guinness.
  14. I've got to brag a little. One of the Cousin Kids got accepted to a special tech school starting next year for 6th grade on. An Aerospace Academy for STEM training.
  15. I agree to disagree. It boils down to promotion, self vs automated. The Story Updates Side Bar, List New Stories (or Updates) First, and Story Updates Activity Feed are all automated promotions. Add into that following an Author and/or Story you get automated notifications that something was posted. That's four different promotions that happen automatically. Side Bar is just one aspect. Self-Promotion takes initiative. Self-promotion is also required to be a Promising, Signature, and Classic Author. Doing what I outline above can all be done at the same time as you are posting a new story, and or chapter. And of course being active in the community.
  16. I stayed out of this topic for the most part, as I like a nice clean forum, and the smaller Story Update side bar was perfect for the new setup. If an Author wants more readers, and viewers, then self-promote. 1. Make a discussion post in the Story Discussion Forum, or if you're a Purple or Crimson badge the Promoted Author Discussion Forum or your Fan Club if you have one. 2. GA has an internal blog that everyone can have one. Post about your stories there. 3. Status Updates. 4. Cross publish to other sites, and link back to GA. There's also, posting quality work. All Authors, regardless of badge color, should be doing that. Ultimately, it's up to us to Post/Publish quality work, and let people know it's there. We shouldn't rely just on the side bar, and the latest story to post to be at the top of the list on the Stories Page. @Myr, @Cia and the GA Staff, thank you for what you do here, and keeping this place running smooth.
  17. Have a blessed life everyone.
  18. First off, hugs... Second, it's supposed to be down in the 40Fs overnight, and tomorrow, we're back to 70Fs again. This Canadian Polar Vortex/Polar Bomb was good, as we were on the 80Fs just a few days ago, but it's playing havoc on the asthma.
  19. Interesting article. Though it did leave out that the further South in Florida you go, the more Northerner you become. I would love to see what influence those snowbirds have had in Miami.
  20. It was 70F this morning at 4:45 AM... It's now 10:36 AM and it's 52F. Cold Front moving in. Burrr.... I need a hot beverage, my teddy bear, and blankie, as I crawl back into this warm bed. LOL
  21. *Puts the Candles out to light the way*
  22. Slowly, the plan to make Canada the 51st state in the United States of America is coming to fruition! Muhahahahahahaha
  23. On the Ice Cream bit: https://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/17/dining/remembering-when-breyers-ice-cream-was-you-know-ice-cream.html
  24. That's happening down here in FL too. Haven't see it with milk/cream cartons but other things. Like in some stores, like Dollar Tree, 20oz Cokes are now 16oz sized at the same price. Breyers Ice Cream downsized from Half-Gallon to 56oz to now 48oz, with the price going up in some places, and it's no longer allowed to be called "Ice Cream." By law it has to say it is a "Frozen Dairy Dessert" because it no longer meets Government Standards to be called Ice Cream.
