A 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6, with just over 15K miles on it. It's an electric vehicle, but with how much I drive with working from home, it was the best option. Thanks everyone. We're shorthanded now at work, down 2 staff accountants; and instead of our supervisor catching the slack left by a person who is out sick for the past week, her work got dumped on me and the Senior Accounting Specialist. All on top of my normal workload, and all this extra work is past due to the funders. Work Bestie screwed me. 🤬 Her calling out is a "eat up my PTO" before I quit stunt. I've been working today since 5:30am and it's now 9:30pm as I write this. I still have like 3 hours at least of stuff to work on. Reevaluating life choices, and I just bought a car damn it.

I need a hug. Today is absolutely horrendous.

It's the warning that Obi-Wan Kenobi puts out at the end of SW:III Revenge of the Sith. After the Anikan turned to the Darkside, the Jedi Temple was destroyed, and all surviving Jedis were scattered. The story is plotting out to where it can fit in one of three Eras. Old Republic, Rebelian Era, or Legacy from SW:Legends. In both Legends and Canon, more than Obi-Wan and Yoda survived. So, I think it would be a nice to tell of a survivor. But, Old Republic is rich with it's own lore, and of course no Skywalkers. Legacy era is SW:Legends now, but it's set in the distant future. Seems the galaxy never fully recovered after Palpatine.

I feel the voices talking to me again, and it started with this movie quote: “This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi: trust in the Force. Do not return to the temple; that time has passed and our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged- our trust, our faith, our friendships, but we must persevere, and in time, a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you, always." The Force is strong with this idea.

I feel you did a great job with the exercise of not using I. Personally, I think I would have had issues with it. Overall, the short was good, the pacing felt right, and your signature use of food was there too. Great job overall, tim.

Case in point, I have one unpublished story (Freedom Station), that tim and BackwoodsBoy have helped in editing. I changed the dates and locations in one chapter; all because I came to realize that for a kidnapping to happen, it would have involved a school. That got changed pretty damn quickly, because it made my skin crawl thinking about it.

In Jefferson's time, the kids would have been armed too, so no, it's not about killing kids. Different eras had different cultural norms. For instance, during the 1800s, there's a story out of the Midwest about how it was kids who drew their own weapons that stopped assailants from killing their schoolteacher at a frontier school. IIRC, this is used by some as one of the first documented school shootings in the US. Activism and sacrifice are what I would go for, up to and including armed resistance. Peaceful first, until you can no longer be peaceful. The last time that happened in the USA was in August 1946 with the Battle of Athens, TN. WWII vets took on corrupt police and the political machine that was running the city and county, and they won. I'm by far a non-violent person, and while I have my own views on gun ownership, kids being killed is never acceptable to me.
