This is exactly where my thinking went. I doubt if Ivor was channeling Larry Hagman, though, to whom that idea was credited. Now that Ben is back to his reality, he can hopefully make use of the coma-induced "education". Perhaps as a springboard to other discoveries. Now, where did I put my courgette...

    Chapter BDSR

Like a couple others, I was ignorant about the nature of a courgette, only to learn that I always have one or two in my refrigerator - strictly for culinary purposes, of course.

Nice to have a dad one can talk to. I see my "fly" pun in the last chapter had already been invented and I just didn't know it. This is a great series of stories, Ivor. As you see, I violated my one-a-day plan

Maybe it's not recursive. Maybe it's more like this. Is the fly in the ointment, or the ointment in the fly? 🤔

This is becoming somewhat recursive. It will be interesting to see what evolves.

I've got something aching, but it's not my head I'm loving this, Ivor. Now we'll see if I can constrain myself to one a day
  7. Backwoods Boy

    TRR

I noted the resulting series, and I'll be looking at more. It's a great time of year for fun quick reads. I'll save the novels for winter

    TRR

I've learned that it pays to follow @raven1 around on GA as he finds interesting gems here and there. I needed something short and sweet to make me smile this morning, and this filled the bill perfectly. Thanks for feeling "prompted" to write this

    Chapter 5

    I'm still working on yesterday's 13,519 words

    Chapter 1

Forsooth! My crystal ball foretells weeks of fun in the near future I have memorized this for the next time I fart in public.

    Haunted

Writing is therapy for many of us, and sharing the product connects us with kindred spirits. I know I'm speaking about a two-year-old poem, but never hesitate to write and share - whatever it is.

    Sunday Poems

I'm working backwards through your poetry, but I think I'll stop with these today and read them again several times. Some poems I understand - some I don't - and some poets I don't understand at all. But I understand more each time I read these three. Thanks for sharing your thoughts this way.
  13. Yes, those strange teenage suicides with no "rational" explanation, and the complete silence that follows. And then in later years, one thinks about it again - and knows. Absolutely perfect.
  14. Fascinating, as were the suggested follow-on classical performances and further exploration into the history and wide uses of an instrument I had always associated with folk music - primarily polkas. Thanks for triggering an hour's worth of education.
  15. On the topic of Autumn - a quite different perspective :
  16. This is a "What I Did Last Summer" report that would give your teacher a heart attack. All others will love the summer of Trevor's self-discovery, guaranteed.

Welcome to the club. You caught something three other sets of eyes missed - and likely a number of readers 👍 From experience, @Al Norris suggested a good approach. It's how I got hired here

You and me both, @astone2292. Trevor is a lot of fun. As they say in the opera, it ain't over 'till the fat lady sings - not sure yet who the fat lady is - or what song she's gonna sing.
  19. Somehow I missed this when it came out. I've enjoyed @WolfM and his stories ever since I came to GA five years ago - initially for the specific purpose of reading Alone in the Night. I didn't realize it was autobiographical until I was finished and he mentioned that minor detail. Though I've enjoyed all of Wolf's stories, that and Memories of a Street Rat are the ones that left the greatest impression.

    The Unsung

Thanks for sharing this, tim. I think it is a remarkable poem that I can relate to in so many ways. The music it brings to my mind, though, is Mussorgsky - Night on Bald Mountain.
  21. S.Rachmaninoff. Piano Concerto No.3 in D minor, Op.30. Soloist Alexandеr Malofeev (17 y.o.). Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Conductor Dimitris Botinis. Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, 30/12/2018
  22. The montage was excellent. This was one of the first popular songs I remember as a teenager. I wouldn't have associated it with same-sex love, mostly because I didn't even know what that was at the time - nor for a number of years later. Looking for info on Jimmie Rodgers online, I was surprised to discover that he grew up a few miles down the road - a bit before my time, though.
  23. Thanks for the exposure to lesser-known composers. I think I hear influences of Bach and Handel.

Mine have never gone behind my back. They tell me what they did and make me write about it Talk about lack of parental control 😳

“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone..." I knew Sunday School would come in handy some day
