  1. Definitely a v worthy contribution to the “creature feature” anthology. A very creepy story which is told v well. Great stuff.

    Deeper Dive

Yes, very creepy. As ever, the joy of the anthologies is being encouraged as a reader (and author?) to break out from the safe genres we tend to stick to. So yes, v creepy but v enjoyable. Well done !

    A. Watching the wonderful Gary Oldman in Slow Horses and thinking back decades to that wonderful film. Interestingly, perhaps, for my mother’s generation “Paki” wasn’t an intentional insult but rather a nickname like the “Jewboys in the diamond district”. It was hard explaining to her that she shouldn’t use such terms!

I’m looking forward to @Summerabbacat’s incisive comments on dear Con……. Lisa looks fun, he doesn’t.
  5. Welcome! As a fellow fan of Robert H it’s good to see you here! The rules about sexual content are quite clear. You can see all the labels in the description page/ table of contents. Just because a story has “mature content” doesn’t mean it’s necessarily going to be full of sexual content. Looking forward to seeing your comments on Robert’s stories. regards Gary

There are carrots, onion, celery, garlic and some peas and corn. I'm hoping i can squeeze out a couple of hundred words before dog walking in 30 minutes My mother and sister love/d turkey soup after Christmas. They put barley and lentils (vomit) to ruin it! A wierd day - to hospital expecting to get terrible blood results after a v indulgent trip through Burgundy, France. Imagine my surprise to be greeted by “I don’t know what you have done but the bloods are marvellous.” Can’t be my results, I’m sure. However, it looks like the biologics for colitis are turning toxic on liver. Win some, lose some. Overall, I’m in a good place today.
  7. Have missed you xxx
  8. Perhaps only by starting over again (not an unpleasant thought, at all) can one see just how far these characters have developed, above all, Gray.
  9. Some bedtime reading has just arrived! Many thanks, Mark. I continue to be amazed at your creativity!
  10. There’s a scene in the excellent Boss Nanny by @Mrsgnomie where the kiddy has a meltdown in the supermarket. Finally his brother/father does the same and it completely throws the kid. Wonderful!
  11. Mr Russ is back! Yippee 👏
  12. A prodigious talent turns their attention to a topic that hits for too many people. Reading the prompt I felt shock, anger, tearful, agreement, awe, and perhaps above all, a deep respect. A tough but rewarding read, thank you x
  13. That’s 13°C. 🥶 🥶 Boots and thick socks a must.
  14. We all await the Grand Wizard’s wand with anticipation 😜
  15. I did one but serious. Now I’m thinking of trying comedy….. Irony I can do, comedy, not so sure. greetings from stormy Valencia
  16. Baby steps……. And now to New England!
  17. Great fun. Well-worked with the prompt.
  18. Sorry, storm arrived at 01.00 and it’s still raining after a second one. If 001 lets me get up (sprawled over lower body in bed) then first task is to find a pair of socks ….
  19. Shorts stored away. Tomorrow sandals will go in their box. Our 60+ polo shirts are ready for the store cupboard (what a pair we are!). Yikes, it was still summer today but autumn arrives at 02.00. Argh 😖
  20. Here the latest crops have been planned and are facing a wash out. Don’t think large-scale farming, it’s all family-owned fields and, sadly, overuse of fertilizers to get four crops a year apart from the orange trees which are coming into their own.
  21. Here ten days of rain arriving tomorrow 😱 and nice weather for Chris in UK!
  22. Just booked trip to see my sister in January. 😁
  23. I’m in a good mood! On Sat we booked a midweek stay up near a ski resort (no snow yet so cheap!) with friends. Hope the dogs behave…. Today I’ve reserved a week in prePyrenees for Christmas in a village called Beget, in Girona province in pre-Pyrenees. V antisocial but it avoids drunken family arguments about Spanish right wing politics. Don’t know if I want snow (v pretty etc) or easy journey (the village is five miles off the main road with a steep incline 😱). The joys of retirement or lunacy…
  24. 134,000 words of emotional rollercoasters. Easily one of the best stories of the 600+ I’ve read here over the years. if it were a physical painting one would be struck by the intensity of the colours, here it’s the intensity of emotions - a complete palette of them - hidden, suppressed, unacknowledged, feared, and at odd moments expressed, that makes this, for me a truly very good piece of writing. kudos to the author and, like Oliver Twist, my bowl is empty and I’m hungry for more of @andy cannon’s writing. Thank you.
