I’ve just started writing a longer story and immediately got blocked. Then yesterday we went into mountains and whilst the crazy ones did a 6km mountain “stroll” I got the prologue out of the way. One down!
In that case it should be a v good read. Mine is finished, it turned out to be fun to do (kudos to @Aditus and @Valkyrie) and left my partner slightly green as I read him the ending! He’s quite nervous 😥 .
In ten thousand words we are treated to the hell of the Pacific war and the new, postwar situation as lived by two men. A densely packed and highly emotional read.
Strongly recommended, as is the author’s longer naval story which is a triumph.
Here in Spain, Christmas Eve is main meal, for use means an orgy of seafood. Best prawns now selling at 200$+ a kilo. Xmas day is often suckling pig, not popular with many nowadays. Easter = lamb.
Little innocent me was thinking as I read the title, oh they are going to a car boot sale together. Slighty weird but sweet. How wrong did I get that! And another lomaxian cliffhanger to finish me off. 🤔
A great take on the anthology theme from a western cowboy perspective. The author is a genius at writing such stories and this one-off chapter is no exception. We are given a beautiful story of love and wonder to the last if it will turn into a love story.
a v good read. Gary
As an old boss of mine would say, “Great stuff” and then pour out a generous G&T! This continues to be a joy to read, Robert. Let’s see if you can get @Summerabbacat posting opera videos!!!!!!
Hi everyone, this appeared on my YouTube account by chance…. for fans of memorabilia from the Napoleonic war at sea:
It sold for over a million pounds in July 2025
Thank you Mark for opening a whole new world for this previously medieval historian.
Just finished my prompt genre task - “arcane punk fantasy”, with added horror! Now back to a love affair in Franco’s Spain. How some of you are able to produce volumes is beyond me!
Hope all goes well xxxx
Totally agree re the insipid Calvert but at least Travis a thousand times better than Z….
Congrats to @Mark Arbour for creating characters whom one can loath, as well as those we love!!!
I had never read a western story and only watched films in my childhood because my dad loved them. I didn’t. And I was even named after Gary Cooper…. And then I came across @Headstall…. And another Gary!!!
A lovely story with a nice twist on the theme. Well done and thank you, maestro!
Ummmmm there is pointing and POINTING!
Still, I’ve got an idea for a little something……. There will be blood, horrific scenes of pain during unbearable torture, human sacrifices, and wieners with rabies attacking innocent babies….. you get the idea? And it will all be @Valkyrie’s fault and poor GA will have to pay for my therapy.
