Fun chapter, Carlos! It’s good to see the brothers together, teasing and ribbing and loving each other. Can’t wait to find out who ambushed them! You know it is done with happy excitement. How much will Liebe be squealing? Northman just will not learn and give up. CJ is untouchable, idiot! Now you not only have the Ambassador aware of your animosity and active vindictiveness, by trying to stop him on the way to his official meeting, you have brought it to the OFFICIAL notice of the Secret Service or FBI/CIA or whoever! You really are determined to write your own death warrant simply because of jealousy of a younger, more capable, more successful man.

We’ve talked about taking a river cruise or one along the New England/Canadian coastline. It looks lovely.

I’m so happy to see you back! I was going to send you a message today asking if you were OK, it’s been so long. You’ve been heavy in my thoughts lately. The chapter was nicely and lovingly done. We all know where it is heading and it’s hard to read knowing that, but at the same time, it’s nice to see all the love there. I hope you had that kind of support in real life. I hope you have had a chance to truly get settled in your new home and will now get a chance for more writing. We look forward to hearing more from you.

Altimexis, I would also like to thank you for your explanation of your detailed descriptions of the technology. While it may not be currently possible, it is theoretically possible and true. That makes me feel better when my eyes go cross while trying to figure out what you are trying to explain to us poor uneducated sots! 😆

OK. The pups were rescued (hooray!), but what about Sandi and Wayne?! Aren’t they still captive in Nichols house? Isn’t that the first place they’ll run to to get ‘bargaining chips?’

I can guarantee the girls were embarrassed! No one likes to admit they were taken advantage of at any age, but teenagers are highly sensitive to criticism because they are trying so hard to grow up. It is extremely difficult to admit to having made this kind of error because they haven’t realized the support they would actually receive from family and friends. It’s likely, though, if they DID tell their parents, the decision may have been the same as Mom with AM, with everyone realizing how things would likely go down due to Brucie’s status. I hope this makes sense. I just woke up!

No, I’m not giving him an excuse. Far from it. I think what Bruce did in the past and now is reprehensible. But it’s a pass people have given in the past to skip over the wrongdoings that boys have done. I’m NOT saying it is right. It is WRONG. Bruce should have been brought to face those he abused in the past (and even up to today). He cheated them again by committing suicide. He cheated them in the past by robbing them of a peaceful existence and he cheated them now of giving them justice for the evil he committed on them. “Boys will be boys” is just an easy excuse to ignore the true, underlying problem.
-
That’s easier said than done. Remember that Bruce was the Big Man on Campus. He was the Basketball Star bringing home the State Championships, which brings big bucks into the school system. To him, he was out to conquer any girl he could see. The more, the better. Most often, when a girl, especially one who is not necessarily a highly popular girl, makes this kind of an accusation, the support goes to the Superstar, after all, boys will be boys! People tend to think that she is simply being vindictive, maybe because he didn’t pay attention to her the way she wanted him to. Because the girls were embarrassed to have been taken advantage of this way, they didn’t share this with anyone and didn’t realize others were being treated the same way. If they had known this, they could have banded together and fought together.

OK. Aside from the comments about the taxes.. I have been meaning to ask. When you discuss all this technical information, do you do so with a true technical background or someone who tells you how things could/should/would work? Is there any possibility that these theories could actually work? I don’t know about anyone else, but these thoughts go through my mind every time I try to work my way through these sections. I can handle some technical info, but this stuff is WAY above my pay grade!

CJ is certainly growing up. He held his anger long enough to take down his enemy cooly and calmly, without having to resort to violence, as he did at that rally. However, he also made it quite clear he was not averse to using appropriate force to put his point across to those who need to it. I highly doubt it would go that far, but he would be a formidable opponent while protecting his own. Yevgeny definitely underestimated our young hero. As stated by someone else, he thought because of his youth, CJ was naive and capable of being tricked into doing something foolish. He obviously didn’t do his due diligence in researching CJ and his history. CJ is completely correct in pointing out that he is a low-level bureaucrat and that there is no reason for latching on to him, unless Yevgeny is trying to lay the foundation for future blackmailing and extortion. Hopefully the Ambassador will be reading him the riot act before putting him on notice. The Ambassador is probably aware, at least in a small way, of Yegevney’s activities and focus, and some, if not all, of his anger is at having been caught red-handed. Unfortunately, we know Yevgeny will not be sent back to Russia with his tail between his legs. That poor dancer! His family was probably threatened unless he cooperated. He probably felt he had no choice, and he must have been extremely relieved when the guys set him straight (uh, no pun intended 😜). We have to wonder if the Ambassador was aware of this little aspect (probably not by his reaction) and how that will be dealt with. He also went to speak with a Ballet official. I hope it was to report the incident and get support from his employers!

Now THOSE I would like to read!

I’m surprised that Brucie would commit suicide. Not only is it the coward’s way out, it’s completely opposite to his egotistic actions and self-preservation. I really thought someone in the jail would have been the one(s) to attack him. In the description Rich gave, he seemed to be rather slow on the uptake while watching Brucie actually make an entire noose before calling for a guard. Whether he was inside or outside the cell (which seems to be a strange place to interview someone. Don’t they have interrogation or interview rooms in Canadian police stations? They aren’t exactly in a backwoods area there.), he could see that Brucie was disturbed enough to be destructive. That alone should have brought the guards. If anyone, besides Brucie himself, is to blame, it would be Rich with his slow response. Timothy bears no responsibility in this.

‘Already’ indeed. The first night they’re there? Somehow, that kid, Zander, seems to be reluctantly forced to participate in these heinous acts, also. Either he noticed Elijah’s momentary loss of control or he can see beyond, ala Ben, but hasn’t figured things out yet. Nichols really doesn’t think before he acts, does he. By acting so precipitously, he could be bringing attention down on his pack that could break the cover of the whole organization. And all for the greed of the almighty $$$ he sees, instead of Elijah. And his sons, as well as the rest of the pack probably, are conditioned to simply obey whatever he commands them to do, no matter the ramifications.

Brucie is a sexual predator, and those kinds of people are often targeted by the other members of the prison/jail population. Often it’s because they, or someone close to them, has been a victim in the past. Tim may have started the investigations that led to Brucie running away, but it’s hardly his fault. Brucie escalated things with his attempt to flee to England and neglecting to bring his passport. The UK has extradition with the US anyway (there is a real case going on right now with a guy who faked his death about 2 years ago in RI and fled there but was recently arrested in Scotland when he was hospitalized with Covid. He is being sent back to face charges of fraud, sexual misconduct, rape and more in at least 3 states. Look up Nick Alahverdian.). I just want to know how the jail population in Canada finds out about him, or if someone else, in another location, is responsible.

A devastating circumstance handled with great care. Cole was insightful to send Ronnie to talk with Rush. Sometimes it can seem like, while meaning well with love, friends and family can be overwhelming in their care and worry about you. It can be easier to react and melt down in front of a stranger, instead of people you are trying, and obviously failing to everyone but you, to hold a brave front. Hopefully, Cole can think back at a later time and realize that Damon would touch and hold him often at various times throughout the day, as opposed to anyone else of their crew. Yes, Damon offered a hand of comfort to Rush and Preston in their grief, but that is different than the way he would hold Cole close. They may have played down the agreement to a date, considering the situation, but this has finally broken the ice.

@drsawzall , I’m there with you in the 18-24” area. At least they are saying it will be a dry, fluffy, light snow and not that wet, back-breaking stuff. Good luck with Winter Storm Kenan!

I think we knew from the first time we met him that Northman was a Trumper by the was he disparaged CJ’s work on Clinton’s campaign. He didn’t say it out loud, but it was certainly insinuated!

Ha! I forgot it was Friday! This was a nice way to wake up when I looked in the story line-up! 😊 While I know he has to be careful, I’m glad to see CJ standing up for himself against Northman (not that I was afraid that he wouldn’t). It’s been a long time coming. Even after Ambassador Cox read Northman the Riot Act, he still tried to hang CJ out to dry for perceived insults. Then, when he realized it wasn’t working with CJ, he tried to harangue him about his family, highly illegal as well as unprofessional, even though it was sotto voce. He knew perfectly well CJ could hear him. CJ should probably start recording his encounters with him. He may need the evidence when Northman comes up on charges of incompetence and harassment. Keep warm this weekend, Carlos. I think you’re in Florida where temps will be around the freezing mark. I know you know how to deal with it, but others don’t and will panic. Keep us Northerners in your thoughts as we deal with a Nor’Easter and up to 24” of snow in our area. (At least, they think it will be the light, dry kind!.)

So sad. It’s always the hardest when you lose someone unexpectedly.
-
I don’t believe that he can do so, legally. If he does, I think he would be putting his license in even more jeopardy. Educators are under something of the same kind of mandate. We can discuss a student with other professionals in a professional capacity, but not in a casual way with any kind of identifiable information. You can use an individual case study for research purposes, but you can’t identify the person without their permission. Somehow, I don’t see Mom giving her permission to Brucie and his team in his defense, especially after everything Timothy has dug up and presented to the family.
-
Hardly boring. We got to meet more of the guys and see the close relationships between them. We know has a thing for Damon. Does Damon have a thing for Cole? Speaking of Sentinel Oaks, will we be seeing more of them soon, I hope?

There are multiple explanations for why the DA would not speak with Timothy himself/herself: (Pessimistic/Realistic) The DA isn’t interested in going after this case because of the gay element, mostly for reasons stated by previous commentators. There is also the element of the years that have passed. (Pessimistic) The DA is an old buddy of Brucie and given orders to bury this case. (Realistic) The DA is the person in overall charge of all prosecutorial legal cases in the judicial area and may not, in all reality, have time to speak with Timothy, not realizing just how big a case this will turn out to be. That’s why there are ADAs. They take care of the details and deal with individual cases with supervision by the DA. (Realistic) The ADA, Ms. Weiss, could be looking at how this case could/would help her career in the DAs office. It may not be that she has a prejudice against gay people (although that’s still a possibility), but she is definitely looking at the case with a jaundiced eye. It is very true that these kinds of cases are notoriously difficult to win, especially after this amount of time and considering Brucie’s standing within the community and his credentials. This is why Timothy is going after Brucie for Tom’s rape, rather than AM’s. However, Tom, as a teacher, no matter how many master’s, or other degrees, he may hold, will not hold the same level of respect as Brucie with his single doctorate. I won’t even touch the topic of Tom being gay and making these allegations.

That’s a good point, @Christopher. Look at the cases of the victims of the Catholic Church. Many are not coming forward until decades later for whatever reason—shame, fear, naivety, etc., yet they are being prosecuted. In today’s world, especially in the US, people are very aware of what constitutes sexual, or other kinds of, abuse. 40-50 years ago, maybe not so much. And people were afraid to ‘rock the boat’ by making accusations against those who held any kind of authority, and Brucie did as a top athlete in his school. There was a strong possibility of retaliations, especially if the ‘Star’ of the basketball team would lose his position and they lost the State Championship. There is, and has been for a long time, WAY too much emphasis on the importance of sports and the ‘Superstars’ who act like it’s the only reason for living.

I agree. I love to read how people think and interpret the various stories. It’s a lot of fun. Sometimes, you can get into some crazy debates about details in the stories or the directions things may be going. I have yet to see anyone here take offense at anything anyone has said. It’s a good group. I forgot to mention that I was not very surprised when Rosalie had everyone packed up and ready to go when the call came. She has already proven herself to be a Seer, just like Silas. She remembers him from her girlhood, also. (Did he remember her? I can’t remember that discussion.) It’ll be interesting to see what happens when they get together. Two powerful Seers in their own rights—who knows what could happen or portend! 🐺🐺

I just couldn’t read 3 pages of commentary! Wow! I agree that the guys have to watch their tails (no pun intended) in Germany. Silas was right to send all of them together. I wonder if Reilly’s family will be there and what their reaction will be when they realize who the new Power Couple consists of… 😂 I do have a complaint… How can we be halfway through already?! NO! Seriously, it’s a great story and I look forward to the next chapter each time. Thank you!
