    Chapter 2 - Damon

    Where’s Mommy?

    Chapter 4

Did he? I’m not so sure he ‘attacked’ it as much as tried to capture it. A subtle difference, it’s true, but nonetheless…

    Chapter 71

Wow. Bruce is more of a predator than we even suspected! Timothy needs to get Tom into sessions with AM’s doctor. He already knows everything about the case, so it will be the easiest and quickest way to get Tom the help he needs. It sounds, for now, at least, like Tom is one of the people who, need to be signatories to this case. This guy not only needs to lose his license, he needs to lose everything he owns, his malpractice insurance needs to pay in full to a bunch of patients and he needs to spend many years in jail!

It’s not so much me being a troublemaker (hopefully Good Trouble?), but rather standing up for what is right. Believe me, I am one of the least confrontational people you will meet. I HATE confronting people, especially those in authority. However, Mama and Daddy didn’t raise a meek girl to simply accept whatever someone passed down to her. Mama and Daddy taught her to stand up for her rights in a legal way (Mama was a legal secretary for years) and not let people take advantage of her and hers. I never realized how much those lessons took hold until I had to fight that principal and the ways he was trying to get me fired (ex.; he tried to write me up for excessive days out sick that same year (10 days total) when I had medically documented pneumonia 2x, once hospitalized for a week. He was out for over 3 months at the same time. My average days out over 30 years was less than 5 per year.) I had been assigned to this building. I didn’t choose it (I wanted a high school, but that’s another story). When my Union Liaison heard where I had been assigned, he groaned. Did NOT make me happy. We were in the process of looking for Assisted Living facilities for my Mom (who passed on the first day of school, but I was there). He warned me the guy had a history of misogyny, but it was so much worse than I expected, especially while I was grieving for Mama. It got to the point I was crying on the way in to school every day. I found out that I was not the only one. The kids hated and feared him. Not a day went by that he didn’t spend half of it screaming for any reason whatsoever. When we learned he was not coming back, the celebratory mood of the school was incredible all week.

(BYW, I was the one who helped get that grievance filed because I gave the Union Rep a diary I had been keeping. That allowed her to convince all the others to sign on. Her father had been my first Union Rep almost 30 years before when I started in the system. I had been at this school with this principal less than 1.5 years. We got rid of him by February. Morale in the building increased so much it could be felt as a physical element! Yep. I’m a renegade!)

Who knows?! He may not have been so bad a few years ago. SOMEONE may have been attracted to him. They say there’s someone out there for everyone. I’m not saying Northman will be removed next week. Cox is smarter than that. However, I am quite certain that he has already laid an extensive paper trail of his foibles/dislikes/prejudices/etc. It’s dollars to donuts that someone has a thick file keeping track of all this so that when the time comes… The problem is that, many, or most, times, people get to the point where they just simply cannot improve or handle anything else coming down the pike. The smart people recognize their shortcomings and either get more training or get out of the way. Not-so-smart people think they can bluff their way through. I had realized I was getting out my depths, and luckily had the years, so I retired. We had a principal who refused to recognize this in himself. It took a class grievance with over 20 (out of 35 faculty members) signing on to get HR to take it seriously (we truly think someone was protecting him, also). When a new HR director came in and saw how thick the file was on him, she was furious. (I know, because I was one of the ones called in to be interviewed about what was going on.) The upshot was he lost his Administration Certificate and wound up back teaching gym.

Does Northman have any family there with him? A spouse or children or others? If so, this could be a problem for his disruptive behaviors and the discipline he receives as a result, although that shouldn’t be part of the consideration. No, he probably cannot be fired easily, but he could very easily be transferred laterally to another Embassy far, far away. It could even be presented to him as some kind of promotion or a need for his specific skills, in order to keep him from seeking retribution against either Cox or CJ. They’re diplomats! They know how to do it without him taking offense or, at least, taking steps against people he feels have slighted him. It would be nice if this unexpected showing of the film results in a big uptick in donations for the Haven. Maybe they could start more in other locations across the country.

    Creline's Advice

LOL! These two are too smart for their own good! They’re figuring out Creline’s clues 375 years too early! I’ve been rereading the various original books. I find myself thinking about where D’Gar and his various friends are while reading them, especially once Southern is used as an exile for the rebellious Old Timers. I would love to hear their reactions to that episode! Do they help explore the Southern Continent? Do they help with digging out Landing and AIVIS? Do they decide to stay North or find a Southern Weyr for themselves? Lots to think about! In the meantime, I am not surprised to hear this story is winding up, but I am looking forward to the boys’ story. I just commented on another story that one of the things I like the most here is our commentaries at the end of the chapters. We get into some wild discussions! I actually have found myself trying to wanting to write comments on my ebooks and getting frustrated that that doesn’t work! 😆

I was laughing so hard at this! We were getting so spoiled! Say it isn’t so! I wasn’t surprised that the Russian bugged the apartment, but I am furious that he put one in Liebe’s room! On the other hand, maybe that one should have been left so that it could receive the proper ‘treatment’ from a non-potty-trained toddler! They could then send it back to the Russian Embassy for what’s-his-name saying they think he forgot this at the party, with an apology for the ‘mistreatment’ they inadvertently gave it! I don’t think CJ has to tell anyone about what a jerk Northman is. Everyone, including the Ambassador, already knows ir!

    Chapter 9

    Hinting much? Happy 2022, Everyone!🎉
  11. I hadn’t thought about any riders and dragons retiring in the abandoned Weyrs in the books. It makes sense, especially in terms of Ista and it’s warm climes. (High Reaches? Not so much. Brrr.) So, of course, someone would see the layover at the 25 year marks. Very clever, @Mawgrim!🐲 All the travelers knew the journey was an absolute secret, so it’s not surprising that no one responded to the challenges from the Watchdragons. Zalna and T’san are too clever for their own good by figuring this all out. It will be interesting to hear what the retired Masterharper has to say about their speculations and conclusions. I wonder if he is Robinton’s ever-so-great grandfather!

    Chapter 65

Bruce is convinced that he is the ‘Golden Boy’ who has rights to do as he pleases. For some reason, his parents must have allowed, or at least ignored, his self-centered behavior. That includes molesting girls in high school, probably in college and, very likely, some of his current patients. Timothy needs to proceed with this case, if only to bring the information out into the public arena. Hopefully, when this information comes out, his world will implode, likely bringing the others along with him. It doesn’t matter if it comes from the courthouse or from a newspaper article. The information will come out. At a minimum, they should lose their positions of trust. Bruce must lose his license and never be allowed to have one again. He also needs to be identified as a sexual predator. ( I’m not so sure about the others, as they were forced to do this under coercion.)
  13. Clancy59

    Chapter 63

In my experience, even when people are reticent to come forward in fear of retribution, all it takes is that first person willing to take that first step. Things tend to fall like dominoes after that point. We actually had that happen with a very bad principal. I had kept a journal of his mistreatments and gave a copy to the Union Rep. Once she had that in hand, she was able to get over 50% of the faculty to sign on.

    Chapter 3

I just had to reread Chapter 1 to refresh my memory about the relationship of the Conservancy and the Vineyard on the island and how that could be affecting Tani and Dante. If Tani is referred to as Babu, but is NOT the Babu in Chapter 1 (which I strongly suspect), who is it? It isn’t Uncle AMU, because they refer to him separately within the discussion. I highly doubt it is Cale, especially with Hera’s response to him. Could it be Tani’s father, despite his reaction centuries ago? Questions are beginning to mount! Tani has to meet Dante face-to-face. Things are continually getting more and more interesting!

    The Badlands

We were watching the Science Channel last night with a program about the Yellowstone Supervolcano. Scary! I never knew about the caldera before and was amazed at how large it was (something like 45x35 MILES!)! It took them 20 minutes to fly over it by helicopter! They interviewed a scientist who, several years ago, had been doing some kind of research or survey on the edge of a cornfield in eastern Nebraska when he found a bone sticking out of the ground. They found an entire field of complete skeletons of all kinds of prehistoric animals buried in ash which they traced to the mega-explosion from Yellowstone. They’re still digging them out! They showed them on the program. Amazing!
  16. Clancy59

    Chapter 2

Hmmm. Interesting start. I’m really looking forward to this book. At first look, I really thought Cale would do anything to create obstacles for our lovers because that actually benefitted him. However, that last little exchange where he gave Tani the clue about leaving Dante too early in the past to realize that the earlier incarnations died early, made me question that. Your stories are always so rich and complex. I can hardly wait to read this.

    Chapter 63

They’re going to have a local explosion of the #MeToo movement! Maybe this will help wake Mom up to the harm she has done by insisting on hiding what happened to AM.

    Chapter 7

OK. I love that these two positive/negative couples are the ‘foretold’ pairs announced in the painting. I do think and agree that Ben and Zev are the 3rd pair in the painting. I can’t wait to find out how the various packs are connected. Silas didn’t seem to know a lot about the painting, did he? A bit of historical digging on that could be very interesting. Who will do that? Maybe Rosalie knows more than she is letting on. Maybe Silas also knows more than he is telling. Silas and Rosalie. Hadn’t considered that combination, but it would not only make sense, but would be very powerful. Imagine. They are both strong ‘seers’ in their own rights. Put them together and who knows what may happen! This story just keeps getting better and better! Keep the chapters coming! I know you were posting twice a week, but now you’ve spoiled us with these daily posts and we’ll expect them more often! Really looking forward to the further development of this fun, complicated story!

Thanks for the extra chapter as a Christmas Surprise! Merry Christmas, Everyone! We wound up with a White Christmas here, after all!

Santa skips our house, except to drop off stuff for nieces and nephews and our pup! I used to tell my students that I had a deal with Santa that he could bring my gifts early and I promised not to touch them until Christmas Day. The kids (elementary age, obviously) bought it hook, line and sinker! I actually heard them telling other kids about it! 🤗

I wasn’t sure if there would be another chapter today, being Christmas Eve. I know I have my work cut out for me. I have to get a few things for the Christmas dinner baking (I do the breads and forgot the mini muffin liners) and I ran out of chocolate chips for the Christmas Bark I make every year. I can’t find the Swiss cheese for the quiche that everyone begs for, so I’ll have to get some more. Oh! And top off the tank of the car! I also have to finish wrapping some of the gifts (85% done)! Then tomorrow, make the quiche, pack the car and travel to the cousin’s house for the Celebration! I really thought you would be too busy and we’re trying to get ahead of the curve. So, thank you for the extra chapter! It was fun! Now, off to work I go! (How did I organize this before I retired? I really don’t remember!)

    Chapter 59

Yes, I agree that Timothy needs to get a protection order for the entire family against this ‘doctor’ and, maybe, the cop, although that one may prove difficult. Although, if they are in another state, it gives them a big cushion. He might have to file in his hometown, though. Mom is beginning to realize what is really happening and how Timothy is trying to help. However, she is fighting it. That isn’t surprising as her entire world is turning upside down and inside out. She feels completely out of control and is grasping for anything that feels secure. Unfortunately, that won’t happen for a while. Hopefully, she’ll start talking with, and listening to, the doctor at the University.

Surprise! The weekly chapter a day early! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁 Ho-Ho-Ho! Such a fun day relaxing and having fun with friends, with a nice history lesson thrown in! Merry Christmas, Everyone! ❄️🎄❄️
  24. This was very funny. Loved it! Are we going to start listing our favorite, goofy Christmas songs now? How about Dominic the Donkey and I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas! And then there’s always The Hanukkah Song!

    Chapter 58

Oh, they know they’re in trouble now. They are trying to cover their tracks and get Mom discredited quickly as mentally unstable so that any accusations will be able to be passed off as delusional. Thankfully, Timothy and Stephen caught on to what the truth was beforehand. Randy got Mom away just in time. (I wonder what Dad said that convinced Mom to actually go this time.). Hopefully, Timothy will be able to use the warrant in court as proof of the attempt of a cover-up. (Note to CL: I don’t know about anyone else, but I got a bit confused in that section where the POV changed from Timothy to Bruce and then back to Timothy. I got it, but it took a moment!)
