  1. I loved Xanadu! The music was great! Even the roller rink number made you want to get up and do it, and I can barely stand on skates!
  2. OK. I didn’t mean to sound so…so…whatever, but I just felt you thought I missed out on the creative side and was kinda Vulcan-like logical. For some reason, it hit me very wrong at that moment in time. I happen to agree with you. Creativity is the thing that makes life so enjoyable. I love my puzzles, but I love the construction of my crafts even more! I love making the individual pieces, but when I put them together in their final form, you would think I’d died and gone to heaven. The creativity and musical sense I got from Mom. Even a lot of the logic came from her. The engineering and construction comes from Daddy. I can actually look at a photo of certain crafts and recreate them. Mom was always amazed when I did that. As you say, it’s a balance.
  3. Thank you, all, for your concern. Well, we are past the storm now. We are in Rhode Island, which is where it landed as a tropical storm, rather than a hurricane. We had a lot of wind and rain, but we’re quite lucky, ourselves. 84,000+ families lost power. We just had a flicker for a minute at the time of landfall. One cousin is included in that number, but they have a generator, so they haven’t lost anything. Extended family on both sides of the path are safe and sound, including our first-time mama grandniece with her week-old baby boy. Everyone accounted for safely with no damages to health or home. I haven’t even heard of any injuries from the general population (except for one story from the news about a tree that fell on an occupied car. Driver is fine.) Excellent.
  4. Hmph. 😠 Just because I can see the logic in something, it doesn’t mean I am ‘left-brained.’ Hmph. I happen to be a very rounded individual. Not only can I think logically, but I am creative, also. I play piano, violin and started learning guitar during lockdown. I sing. I sew (quilts, embroidery, crewelwork, plastic canvas, etc.). I bake. I make candies. I just can’t draw to save my life! Yes, I am taking umbrage with your comment. I don’t like to be boxed in like that, I guess.
  5. What a place to stop! I can’t wait to find out what Tala found out! I certainly hope they can keep these pages away from those evil ones! Great story. I was so happy to see it in the lineup while we sit out the storm!
  6. That’s because the brain is stuck into a pathway that says this is correct. Sometimes I have to walk away for a while and when I come back, I can easily find what I had been looking for with fresher eyes. Try to take a break before proofreading, especially a chapter of this size. Your brain will ‘auto fill’ the correct information, otherwise. If you need more proofreaders, ask. I’m sure several of us would be happy to help out!
  7. I think he know exactly why they are there to speak with him. He knows they’ve seen the design and want to know more about him, especially after they investigated and found a sketchy background at 16 years old with powerful people speaking up for him. The question still remains how they will handle all this.

    Gus

Yes. That answers my question. Sounds like a good compromise. Use this as a compilation of Camp Refuge short stories and separate lines for multi-chapter stories.

    Gus

I understand this is a continuation of previous story. What I am asking is if you are going to use this ‘story line’ for all your new short stories. For example, Joe and Jake’s story is unrelated to Harry and Gus’, but they are in the same story line, instead of starting a new story for each one.

    Gus

I know we’re supposed to fall in love with Harry and Gus, but I’m in love with the Dads! They are hysterical! Is this how you plan to do the Camp Refuge shorts? You’ll just add another story to this string?

    Doin’ the QE

It’s not that he’s smart—it’s that he has the stamina for 2 three hour classes in a single day! My graduate program had 3-hour classes once a week. We had to take a break in the middle because it was torture sitting so long in those chairs, no matter how interesting or involving the topic was! Even padded chairs are uncomfortable after a while. I hope he had a couple of hours between so he could destress from the first before going into the second. Go get some food or something to drink. Go for a walk and get some fresh air. He must have been beat by the end of the day. I don’t think he mistrusts Darren. He simply knows it’s always good to follow good hygiene rules.
  12. Matthias has really turned around! I really didn’t expect that much of a change. The creation stories were interesting and clever. It looks like Axel and Adam are turning into the Lycan version of Stanley and Livingston! What’s next? Their own show on Discovery Channel?
  13. Nope. There’s WAY too much still hanging out in thin air. You are NOT done with this story! We are waiting!

    Turning Seasons

I was thinking more in terms of jealously of S’brin. We know he is jealous of his leadership abilities!

    Turning Seasons

Could some of the future animosity be due to some subconscious jealousy, especially on the part of M’rell?

    Turning Seasons

All this foreshadowing! I kept expecting it to be S’brin’s turn!
  17. Axel is healing emotionally from his traumatic former life. It’s a lovely thing. Adam and his rose root cubes! Hope he can get a supply in for other occasion!
  18. I was thinking the same thing! You do realize, Altimexis, that your readers understood about half of this chapter’s technical discussion, if we were lucky—and were in any way able with engineering!

    Roughing It

They made it! Glad to see they got around those sinkholes. I’ve never heard of those. It scares me, hearing all this news about global warming. Today, I heard on the news that it could take thousands of years to repair the damage. Well, now they need to make contact with Matti. I wonder if the locals know about Alexei. If so, how are they going to react to him and Adam? Glad to see you back! Missed you over the weekend!

    A Bomb Cyclone

JJ has a brilliant future (obviously, hence the title 😉). However, he needs professional help with those nightmares.

    Luduth's Flight

I loved how you get into much more detail than Anne or Todd ever do with various inner workings of Weyr life. It makes the stories so exciting.
  22. I was so upset to see “The End” on the screen and was getting ready to write you the Riot Act when you redeemed yourself with the notation of ‘Puppy 2.’ There are so many strings left dangling! What will happen with Dave? What is going on with Steve? What is really going on with Hunter and is he really good for Puppy? Consensus is not favorable. Hunter is proving to be a pothead and loose with addictive substances. Not good. What is happening with Cindy? This is just the start, I think. A lot of us want to know more!
  23. There was nothing consensual about either of Puppy’s rapes. That is what they were. Rapes. He is simply too inexperienced to understand what that means. Steven should have known better and stopped it, instead of taping it and then threatening to post it online. Hunter’s name is appropriate as he seems to be a predator, looking for his next victim. He just raped Puppy without protection, putting Puppy’s life at risk. Max had warned him about things like this, but he is simply too inexperienced to put the advice into practice. And Steven! How stupid can a guy be?! Susan had every right to go ballistic—I certainly would have! How is Max going to react? I certainly hope they pound some sense into that thick skull!
  24. I was so happy to see this in the lineup this morning! It looks like things are coming to a head, but the chapter was so short! Please hurry with the next installment!

    New Highs

Puppy found Cindy! Yay! Why was Watson upset about it? Again with the secrecy! His wife obviously isn’t part of the conspiracy. And Cindy was told she wasn’t allowed to contact him and led to believe it was on Max’s orders. Something very strange is going on here. Here’s hoping she was able to get ahold of the number and will be able to contact Puppy and they can start figuring out what is going on. Poor Dave. He doesn’t understand the relationship Puppy has with Cindy and how concerned he has been with the lack of contact. Dave’s own life has been such a whirlwind of turmoil that it isn’t very surprising that he started jumping to conclusions. I’m glad they were able to set him straight on that. It’s good to see their relationship continuing to grow. Puppy’s naivety is so cute at times, but he is going to start getting annoyed at them when he realizes he is the butt of some of the jokes as a result, but they are typical teens. Puppy has been very patient with them.
