Wow. Archibald, once again, shows his selfishness and disdain for everyone else by ‘executing’ Christopher. That’s all it can be called. Yes, he atoned for having produced such an erratic cub, but he wasn’t thinking about how it would affect things afterward, most especially the dabbabi (boy, spellcheck had a rough time with that one!). I’m sure everyone saw it coming as soon as Archibald called for “one last kiss.” That was so out of character from the last couple of chapters, but the attention from his papa was what Christopher craved, so he immediately caved. They were going to try to get the dabbabi up to Minnesota to try to reverse the damage, but now it looks like that won’t be happening. Maybe they’ll be able to capture one they can try it with.

It just occurred to me that Adam is going to have to update the admission portfolio for the kids to include permission slips for them to go on these weekend trips, as well as any other off-campus activities. Medical proxy would already be covered.

I know there are 110 boys now and more to come, but no way would I want the encroachment on my living space as described! Since there seems to be so much space to build there, either build on to the back of the cabin to enlarge the kitchen area (I wouldn’t mind a nice BIG kitchen), or better yet, build a separate building to house the kitchen, considering the level and amount of activity and food to be prepared. This kitchen will be active from 5 am until 7 pm and even later!. The cabin is no longer a building for vacation getaway. Its an Admin building for a campsite for the Academy. I suppose Adam and Marie could always use George’s cabin as a getaway cabin, but it IS across the lake. Adam wouldn’t like that. OK. Enough rant. That fork must have been made of tin, if Adam was able to nail through it. I can just imagine what was going through Frau Muller’s mind as she watched the proceedings. She probably thought about how crazy the Americans are! But grilled sausages are SO good! A friend of mine taught me to soak them in a beer and onion bath for an hour before throwing them on the grill. YUM! And don’t forget to toast the rolls on the grill, too!

My husband knows where every office for those urgent meetings can be held is located within a 25 mile radius and within certain chain businesses beyond that, same as my Dad did! 😆 I love the idea of using the heat from the heart to indicate the warmth of a person’s love being expressed. When Adam told Gerry he could feel the heat through his hand, meaning it was burning brightly and full-force, I almost cried, feeling my own heart heat!❤️‍🔥💗

There’s also a to be added to my ‘heart’ approval, because I really want to see the werebear army wielding those big, bear-sized, high-pitched whistles! I knew you wouldn’t let us down, Grumpy, but I was anxiously reading this chapter this morning. Doesn’t help the tropical storm is blowing outside our windows. A couple of times, there was a gust at just the wrong moment! LOL! That Bill is one smart cookie. I can understand his shyness, if he is so small compared to the others, but he has everything to make him stand tall with the way he took charge of his fellow cadets. And notice how readily they followed his orders! He protected them, got help, brought the rescuers up to date and kept his cool at every moment. He deserves a medal for his actions today! Maybe the werebears can give him an unofficial commendation later, since this has to be kept secret, otherwise.

I don’t think they should be given a free pass with a simple resignation. They robbed and shorted these kids for years! They need some kind of prosecution! Joe sounds very creative, but I don’t know about those combos! 😆 I agree with @weinerdog that the chili pepper/mint combo sounds especially unappealing. I wonder if these combos would actually be possible. I’ll have to ask my niece. She’s a botanist and Master gardener. I’d love to hear her reaction to those combos! 🤣

I had to put the ‘mad’ face on your comment because I’m as just as upset as you! Gary has a lot of explaining when they DO get free. And they will, won’t they, Grumpy? As far as not noticing the boys hiding there, I think he was so distracted by the news he wasn’t paying attention to anything else around him. But you are right. He should have been, with 2 campers still unaccounted for. Now I’m going to be on pins and needles until tomorrow!

He obviously did not read their contracts first, which was not doing HIS due diligence. They may lose their legal eagle when he reads them. 😁

Ha-ha-ha. It most certainly is! You are sadistic! You get us all excited with multiple chapters in one day and then you leave us like this?! You are evil! The next chapter better be coming forthwith—along with Kastan! Really, this story is so good. This is so exquisitely written. All the details are there without becoming overbearing like some authors tend to do. The scene at the door was like a ballet and every step was clearly delineated, which was necessary, but at the same time, so riveting that you wind up reading slowly and repeatedly to make sure you don’t miss a single nuance. I can’t wait to see what happens in Court! I know this story is coming to an end and I, for one, will be sorry for it. The chapters were long between, but most enjoyable when they did. Thank you for one of the best-written books I have read in a long time.

I don’t even have the words to say how asinine these trustees (they don’t deserve a capitalized title) and the county officials are. All I can do is stand here and shake my head in incredulity.

Anton will have to stay in the hospital a few days for observation, I’m sure. He’ll probably be sent home with a wheelchair, seeing as he won’t be able to stand or walk for several weeks. Then he gets to have physical therapy (oh, yay.) where he will learn how to walk again. He and Grandma will be there for a long time. It’s good they will be well taken care of. 🧑🏼‍🦽

This is exactly what I meant. He was too good to be true, especially considering his reputation and history of homophobia. Why is he so determined to get ahold of these lands? What is hidden there that we, and especially Vincent and Mason, don’t know about? Maybe Cyrus or Kaplan can do a little research to find out about the history of the property. Steurm assumes that because he is greedy and money-grubbing that everyone is. Therefore, if he presents a big offer, Vincent will only see the dollar signs and not realize that he is being cheated in some other, more valuable way.

From everything that had been said about Steurm, I was NOT expecting the ‘charming’ gentleman who was at the table. Either the stories were exaggerated or he was putting on an act in order to get the property. It would also explain the faked surveys. (Why? 🤷🏻‍♀️). Why is he so adamant about getting his hands on this land that he would present these false credentials and this huge offer that no one else could meet? I think he’s counting on Vincent’s money-grubbing hands and eyes. He’s obviously greedy enough that he thinks everyone else is the same.

Seems like Christopher gets his arrogance honestly. Archibald better get his head out of the sand and accept the help offered, because he’s going to need it. At least Daniel is paying attention and taking the assistance! Do they know where the other 2 brothers are? Yes, maybe he deserves some pity as the ignored middle child, but to allow that to lead him to his actions in the past and now… I am so afraid for Gary and his troop. They are innocent bystanders, as were so many of Christopher’s previous victims.

Just a comment on the date. I agree it is hard to pin down. If you are thinking 80s, the boys can do very little research online, because it just didn’t exist, for the most part. The Internet was used primarily for communications at that point. Yes, there was some rudimentary research a person could do, but it was Difficult with a Capital D for high schoolers. I was in graduate school at the time and we were learning how to use it ourselves as information specialists.It wasn’t until the mid 90s that the Internet/WWW started becoming more what we are used to now.

Here’s a question I don’t want to ask, but I think has to be asked. Since the paddling have been done without witnesses, have they ever been done with the pants pulled down? If so, this is even more disturbing, insane, illegal and prosecutorial. Why does Derrin have the video? What kind of kink are the guys supposed to get from this? What kind of plans are they supposed to be making to further Jackson’s agenda? I love the story for Ethan and Wayne, but as an educator myself, I am so very highly disgusted and disturbed by this whole situation. PLEASE! CATCH THIS PERVERT WITH HIS CADRE AND PROSECUTE THEM TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW! That includes the track and swim team members and any other athletes who have decided to join this insanity. Those students need to be expelled, not just from the school, but from the entire school district and also lose any kind of scholarships they may have received. Maybe their college acceptances should also be rescinded (it has happened in real life).

It seems like Christopher hasn’t kept up with the family history to know that the businesses no longer exist and that his brothers have scattered to who knows where. Maybe Papa Archibald is still in the family enclave, but it seems Christopher won’t get the revenge he thinks he will.

They’re going to have to put in a chalet just for food and cooking for that many boys!
