I had a Dr. Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG1 vibe from Hugo.

Graeme will need to save another soul, in a different way this time.

I assume the "Enigma" is playing the violin, the manipulative devil the bride said was stuck in the mirror transit station. I'm looking eagerly forward to their meeting! That was great fun in the library gardens, I wonder if they now possess 1/5 of the clue to escape. Not that I want them to escape.

I agree. I think the same person is behind everything. And he knows a lot about the club members. He knew about Frost's drug and alcohol use following sessions. He knew Miller needed money for drug debts. He used Miller to set the fire. I think @drpaladinis probably right, Miller didn't know that Frost was in the hotel. I have a feeling that Cannon's nervousness was appropriate, just not for the reason he thought.

But someone paid him 500 pounds to set a fire, then most likely killed him and stuffed the body in the place he burned down. If it wasn't the same people paying for the arson and killing Miller (without robbing him), we have a huge coincidence.

My first thoughts are that Guillotine was purposely trying to kill Frost and the fire was the method, but why? And 500 pounds doesn't seem like enough to kill someone, but is more likely for an arson job. Also, Miller would have to have known about Frost's tendency to self medicate, otherwise arson would be too ineffective a way to commit murder. But it is possible that whomever paid Miller for the arson was really trying to kill Frost (somehow knowing Frost's secrets), then killed Miller. Who's next?

Gavin kicks back & Rory feels a complete idiot
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Gavin kicks back & Rory feels a complete idiot
Rory experienced some personal growth, with Gavin's help. I think that seeing his dad and uncle act normally despite the abnormal environment and watching his best friend work through his sexuality, is making Matthew a more comfortable person. -
I loved Lawon's story! Thank you for writing it.

In other time travel stories I've read, or even ones with very long-lived characters, the people from ancient times eventually adapted to modern times. But you have presented us with 4 characters from different eras. The bride from our time probably adapted quickly and eagerly plays by her own rules. Hugo from the late industrial age has had some issues figuring out modern technology (Mr. Bic Eebem makes me laugh), but he is embracing the challenge, using his keen mind. Stoker from Victorian England takes everything in stride and makes the best of his situation. The Puritan has chosen to view his confusing world through a narrow and finite viewpoint. Anything unusual must be magic from the devil. I think we have real life people today that embody these characters. There are still Puritans out there who refuse to see the world as it is, or to use reason. I am loving this adventure!

I wonder what mom, Jay, and Cindy think about modern Adam. Do they know he is a shell? There is no way they abandoned him, so is it just distance combined with Adam pretending to be ok? So far we have no clues regarding Adam’s spiral.

I remembered Peter’s hearing issues from Mickey but not further health problems. I don’t remember Marty’s family background. I’m enjoying the slow burn with this relationship.

If Sam truly wants to prove himself he has to leave his parent's home. His mother is holding him fiercely with her apron strings and his father will do whatever his mother says! Will Sam's journey start with Graeme or on his own?

I find the idea of divergent evolution fascinating! The possibilities of all those species developing from the same genes as us! I think that Hugo and Stoker make a good team, Hugo has the analytical mind to figure out the codes on the transit mirrors and Stoker has the common sense and humor to keep them out of too much trouble. We need some trouble though, how else would they learn?
-
Somehow I don't think this will be the end of Sam's adventures. I think he will soon be able to answer his own questions about his value.

This chapter showed the deep love between these three characters. Great writing!

Chapter 2 - Busy Life
CincyKris commented on ChromedOutCortex's story chapter in Chapter 2 - Busy Life
The more I learn about Adam in high school, the greater the dissonance with 35 year old Adam. I looked back at the prologue, Adam sits in his "sparse apartment" with his "grimy window pane" and his "worn couch". What happened to the driven kid with the university scholarship who was going into medicine? The kid with a loving mother, brother, sister, and a group of close friends? I'm intrigued. -
Chapter 1 - In The Beginning
CincyKris commented on ChromedOutCortex's story chapter in Chapter 1 - In The Beginning
I agree with @Summerabbacat, I wonder what happened to this somewhat introverted teen to turn him into the completely isolated adult we met in the prologue. -
I like the start. I don't know the tie in to Lukas but I look forward to the reveal.

A birthday treat & an offer
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in A birthday treat & an offer
“Of course, Dad. Nothing will happen, we’ve shared before.” Famous last words! I think its a safe bet that something will happen. In both rooms. -
George is in his element in this chapter. He is not only in the middle of political intrigue, he is subtly directing it to his and his friends' advantage. In the second part, he is embracing the innovative designs of London's most famous architect. His new home will be the talk of the Tonne! Not something he personally cares for, but extremely useful for his reputation. And I got some Caroline bashing!

Violin sonatas & sex tips
CincyKris commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Violin sonatas & sex tips
I love the reactions and comments of all their guests the first time they visit the Grange. I expect I would act the same way! -
I'm guessing Dallas had some insecurity regarding his own feelings about boys that caused his overreaction. We don't know his family situation, maybe being gay is a big problem. Not to mention the reactions from his classmates towards JJ, I bet that middle schoolers would be just as vicious!

The excitement is ramping up! I hope that Sam's excitement won't hinder his new duties as a squire. Tripping over himself would not scare any bandits into surrendering!
