I read this 6 times in a row....and could not describe what I was feeling and couldn't understand the meaning behind it until an Esteemed gentleman helped me.😂😂😂...So I can relate . But they did both confess their feelings for each other.(Cash and Jackson). They really do love each other. it's just like Daisy Bell told Cash....it is a wrong timed love ... Like you I was worried too...someone would lose out but somehow I no longer have that 'worry'.. I could be wrong but remember the line from yesterday's chapter?.The one about Alex remembering from his chess lessons with his Da that a pawn can become a queen?.....My theory is that,like I said I could be wrong and stand to be corrected, Hugo going to 1836 to meet that version of Alec will equip him with knowledge on how to counter Dottie in 1953...or wherever Dottie has him. I do not understand time travel though..Good thing Mr.Lydon will not leave us without answers for long😂😂

You will make a good student of philosophy out of me yet Mr.Lydon...Now with this chapter you got me reading Heraclitus!😂...Had to go read about what Madame Woo was talking about when she realised Dottie's insidious plan. This chapter hit me hard. I was Lyn 18 years ago😂...Doing crazy stuff in the hope that the object of your affection will return the same. I felt sorry for Lyn in this chapter...It got me thinking that if Lyn was a writer..He would author 'The Art of the Facade'...It is so bad that even his mother mentions it. I reckon Lyn only ever gets to rest, to be his true self when he is asleep. This chapter highlights how deeply masked Past Lyn is. From hiding his financial status, omitting the fact that he cannot swim and always joining Alexander and Brad on trips he cannot afford. This is someone who desperately wants to impress and not feel excluded. Brad ..I do not even know where to begin with him in this chapter .I pegged him as a himbo before but am revising that label . He might not be book smart but definitely is good at reading people...The casual nonchalance with which he treats Lyn.The subtle possessiveness he displays when he removes Lyn from Alexander's arms. That last scene of him putting his arm over Lyn's shoulder. He asked if Lyn was feeling cold with a casual ness which felt almost obligatory..Like he was just asking for the sake of asking but not really caring. Without waiting for an answer, he plopped down by Lyn’s side and draped one arm over him. That last part is a form of cruelty in itself..It feels like Brad is rewarding Lyn . I agree with @Cane23 about Alexander. His anger is indeed a sort of emotional displacement .In this chapter he is angry at his helplessness .He is helpless in that he cannot protect Lyn from himself('dangerous situations' Lyn places himself in) and the emotional that comes from having unrequited feelings for Brad.

I take back my words from earlier...about restraint😂....Someone needs to wring Dottie Umbridge' s neck.. Even the original Umbridge didn't elicit such anger in me😂 Thank you Sir!

The problem with folks like Dottie is that they overestimate their capabilities...hubris is a mean bitch after all😂

I almost feel 'sorry' for Lyn😂...Alexander is coming at him with a full arsenal ..like you said he paid a great deal of attention and was a keen observer...our clueless boy on the other hand was so 'immersed' in Brad that I doubt he took as much time to observe Alexander... Dare I say Present Lyn stood no chance against the maverick that is present Alexander at this point of the story (Day 3 of get way,I remember)

Eh..so it's just chapter 1...and Carl Upman is the defacto villain of our story?😂
