  1. Hi Alex! I hope you get a chance to share your photography as well as your writing. I’m sure you will find friends here as it seems to be a friendly place! Welcome
  2. I just loved how Seamus showed a little vulnerability in this chapter. And how when Matt expressed words of loyalty it turned him on. That was incredibly sexy. I needed one of those hand fans lol

    Chapter 7

Ahhh I was right! But I didn’t think it was going to be Dalton. Agreed, it was a nice unexpected twist. I see now why you chose not to reveal much about Dalton’s character in the beginning. It could have been fun to reveal his crush on the professor earlier on. I wonder if it would be possible to pull it off without giving away his motive. I really enjoy how you keep us guessing. You manage to do a lot with your story while keeping the word count low. Keep up the good work. It’s fun to read your stories.

    Chapter 6

It all fits together. But something makes me suspect he’s been framed. I’ll have to wait and see 😬

    Chapter 36

Aww yay, I was excited for this update! It was cute. I love watching their relationship develop. The responses of their friends are both endearing and hilarious. I wonder if Mr. Raffe is going to be concerned when he reads the story 😬 I imagine it will be pretty clear to him that it’s not fiction. Even though the teacher has been hard on him, I’d love to see him have a change of heart. Hopefully it will come across as a cry for help because this poor kid really needs help.
  6. It was so good to come across your poems today. How you’re able to consistently write such strong poems each day is impressive. I’ll share a few thoughts on my favorites of the set. 8th - I read this one several times because it’s so melancholy and pretty 9th - Taking on a sonnet is no easy task. Reflections on aging and reminiscing on youth. I love how you ended it on a sweet note. Overall I enjoyed how you threaded sensory details from nature throughout your poems. They are peaceful, nostalgic, and reflective. Really wonderful work, thanks for sharing.

I feel so bad for Lucas. He didn’t stand much of a chance against Pascual with a history like that. And of course the selfish professor would blame Lucas for all of it. It’s so sad and cruel. Thank goodness there is more to come. I hope to see Lucas happy in the end but I’m nervous about what he’s going to do 😭

    Chapter 9

Childhood nightmares are the worst. I still get creeped out when I think about some of the ones I used to have. Luckily I don’t have to deal with them as an adult. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on Jonathan. Smart is a great way to describe him. Thanks for the great comments!

    Chapter 9

I’m glad to hear your response to Rayna. I feel the same way about her. Luckily Jonathan is patient and understanding. A fight or argument would have complicated things immensely and no one needs that right now. Thank you so much for the lovely comments!

    Chapter 5

Mrs. Miller’s story made me cringe with every wham. It was so detailed that it made me wonder if she was somehow involved. But her story started seeming less crazy after Professor Hearst’s cold words to her afterwards. To his credit anyone would be upset after being accused like that. But he sounded so dispassionate and casual with the hurtful words, like he’s used to hurting people. A religious school would be eager to pass the whole thing off on an easy explanation that suits their agenda and doesn’t incriminate anyone. Dalton seems to be in the right place at the right time frequently. I wonder what he’ll catch onto next. can’t wait for the next installment!

    Chapter 9

There’s something about having tangible copies of your own work as well as your favorites. Kind of like how many people still love reading paperbacks even though it’s convenient to have all the books on a Kindle. Michael is definitely struggling with his self esteem ☹️ He is acting defensively because he senses something between the two men and he has convinced himself that Jonathan won’t want him around. Matters of trust can be just as complicated and confusing as crushes. Thanks so much for reading and sharing your comments. It’s always helpful and informative to see your thoughts laid out, and I really appreciate it!
  12. I dressed in a long-sleeved grey shirt that may have been large on Jonathan, but it clung to me. I removed it, stretched out the sleeves with my hands and pulled it back on over my head. The pants fit better, material thin and loose. Knowing I was in Jonathan's bedroom, I should have respected his space and walked straight out. But I felt drawn to his bed, and I couldn't seem to stop myself from running my hand over his silky gray bedspread and smooth white sheets. I glanced back at the doo
  13. Poor Lucas is in wayyy over his head. Pascual is so selfish for taking advantage of him and mistreating his wife. I feel like I know what’s going to happen but I’m still biting my nails.

    Chapter 8

Thank you so much for this and your comments on the last few chapters! I'm really happy to hear that you are enjoying it. Pacing is tricky being so close to the writing. So having your thoughts and perspective is invaluable.

I’m really impressed by your writing style. It’s transported me to another place and it’s wonderful to read. You have built this professor up to God tier status. I can see him easily through Lucas’ eyes. I’m so excited to continue!
  16. A grieving dancer, a distant lover, and a serial killer on the loose. C. Henderson packed this excellent short story full of intrigue, chilling atmosphere, and good character building.

    Pandemic (3)

Thank goodness the vaccine is becoming available to more people. I got the Pfizer too. Good luck with the sore arm Haikus are hard. You’re doing great. Glad I discovered this set you are creating.

I am so proud of Rick!! It takes a lot of heat to get him to boil over, but man, when it happens you better watch out!! And then he finally tells his friend that he’s gay. That curveball made me so happy. I hope his dad has a heart attack when he finds out. Now I’m half expecting Rick to find a white horse, sweep Gus away from Zoltan, and ride off into the sunset lol Awesome chapter!!

    Week One

Hi @Valkyrie, I’m really impressed by the vulnerability and honesty you have expressed in these poems. I thought I’d share some thoughts as I read through these. Thanks so much for sharing. #2 - time really has passed in a surreal way during the pandemic. (Also I hope I don’t get pulled over for my expired registration stickers 😳) #3 - Isn’t is wonderful how a simple thing like going for a walk can stir up so many emotions like nostalgia, creativity and confidence? #5 - we can feel so vulnerable when we do things people might see as abnormal. At the same time there is a joy and sense of thrill in it. I really enjoyed this one. #7 - the dragon of the past bites me sometimes when looking at old pictures too. The nostalgia is real. I really loved the closing imagery here.

    Chapter 8

Thank you so much for the great comments. So much fear and trauma from Ethan’s past is dominating his life 😔 Jonathan faces his problems head-on and he’s a good person to counter Ethan’s tendency to go inward and blame himself when things go wrong.

    Chapter 8

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments! The baggage is definitely piled onto them all. I’m enjoying writing how each character responds to the weight in different ways. Michael escapes by going outwards, Ethan going inward, and Jonathan single-mindedly pursuing his obsessions.

    Chapter 8

Ethan has so much to share with the world and with Jonathan, if he can only work through the things that are holding him back. Thanks always for your lovely comments

    Chapter 8

You’re definitely on the right track here. Jonathan’s desire to continue pursuing Ethan through the years stemmed from a feeling that began long ago. Michael played Hamlet in the school play and his passion for acting is related to his interest in the costume shop. But when it comes to Sophie my lips are zipped for the moment 😊 It’s still fun to read your speculations. Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!

    Chapter 8

There is definitely more of his history to come. Thank you so much for reading and commenting!
  25. A whirlwind of uncertainty picked up pace in my mind. He was scared of me. I’d made a huge mistake. I’d practically attacked him with that kiss. It had been unwarranted, unwanted, and he only said it was okay to appease me. He was going to change his mind and I’d be stuck here in Toronto with a teenager to care for, no money, and no place to call home. Heat began to build in my lungs, heart thumping heavily in my chest. When I heard Jonathan’s feet coming up the stairs, I sat up from my slu
