Chapter 1: Happy Anniversary, Honey!

Yes, extremely alarming. As alarming as an extremist Supreme Court in this country. -

For the life of me, i don't see how any LGBTQ person in the US can vote for any Republicans, seeing the party seems set on attacking the LGBTQ at every level, from school on up to adulthood. -

Thanks for the feedback, AC. As you may have noted from my responses to the comments above, I was worried that this story might have been too political to be included in the Anthology as it was, so that's why I stay away from mentioning the Republican party or any of its members. I thought I could get away with mentioning Clarence Thomas, because he's a Justice, not a politician. However, after talking to Carlos and Mancunian, I would have done it differently if I'd spoken with them earlier. I was hoping this story would get the GA members who live in the US to get out and vote in the midterms. It's the best chance we have to get enough Democrats elected in order to ensure that same-sex marriage and LGBTQ rights in general codified into law. -

Thank you, and Carlos pointed this out to me as well. -

I meant considering that all political discussion is supposed to be relegated to 'The Pit'. -

Thank you for your feedback, northie. It's nice to know that others are seeing the same thing I am. Now, we just have to get out there and do something about it before it's too late. -

Thank you, Carlos. I wasn't certain how this story would go over or if it was too political to even be part of the Anthology. It's nice to know that people disagree. -
Isn't it amazing how we can walk and chew gum at the same time... I mean read, comment, and post at the same time. 😜

A Christian fundamentalist country with non-Christian values. Isn't that a kick in the pants, so you're right, those living in the USA need to get out to vote. -

Chris, that's the thing. We have to codify these rights into laws and take it out of the hands of the courts. And thank you for the review. -

It's becoming painfully obvious that some politicians will do or say anything to get re-elected, because a lot of the pro-life politicians that were so vocal in their approval of the court striking down abortion are now scrubbing their websites and trying to hide their previous positions. Hopefully, we can get them to back down on their views of same sex marriage and LGBTQ relationships, but better yet we'll vote them out of office so those remaining can codify these rights into law. And thank you for your review as well. -
Seventy years on the throne is no small feat. I'm amazed by how many US Presidents came and went during her reign, which puts how long her reign was for those of us in the US. A truly amazing and remarkable woman who gave her all for the nation she ruled over. May she rest and peace, now that she's reunited with Prince Phillip again. Now it's time for Charles to become king, but his reign should be short, considering how old he is as he finally gets the position, and then it will be William's turn. It looks like Charles III, followed by William V.

Yes, WL. Rather than protecting the freedom of the LGBTQ population, they are pitting it against religion. Just as you mentioned, it totally goes against the concept of the separation of church and state, but it also goes against the concept of 'do unto others', as taught by Jesus. The problem is, the religious right isn't actually adhering to the religious concepts that they pretend to espouse. Hypocrisy knows no bounds. -
This was a tender and touching recounting of a crush and a dream come true. It brought back a few memories for me as well. If only I could have been as fortunate as Josh. Great story, Comsie.

Damn, I thought I comment to this, so forgive my oversight. You're right, and if people don't start speaking up, we may have no voice to speak with.- 48 comments

As you may have figured, I agree wholeheartedly with your statement. It's gotten so bad that they're trying to ban LGBTQ books from the library. It's definitely time for another period of 'enlightenment' before we slide back into another 'dark ages'. Thanks for reading, Tony.- 48 comments

Amen to that and I hope the country doesn't backslide when it comes to LGBTQ rights. It needs to keep moving forward.- 48 comments

Thank you, Mancunian, and your observation is very true. That's why I'm trying to raise the awareness of those who live in the US so our nation doesn't end up setting the wrong example.- 48 comments

Unfortunately, too many people suffer through relationships such as this. I was taken advantage of in a similar situation when I was younger, but fortunately it didn't come to such a drastic end. I hope this might enlighten others so they can get out of a bad situation before it's too late. Nice work.

WL, even though I figured out the true nature of the other boys from your description when the two met, I was drawn into their story and loved the way you brought them together. It's sad how most humans have very little regard for nature and wildlife. I grew up in the country on a small farm, and the last time I went back there the house I grew up in is gone and there are other, newer and larger homes there, but I still have my memories of what it was once like. Thank you for this wonderful story.

Yes, it's unfortunate, but the LGBTQ segment of the population may always be the target of others. Many people seem to hate what they can't or don't want to understand. I'm glad you enjoyed my story.- 48 comments

Mancunian, a very touching story and it was sweet that you had John and Steve die on the same date, at the same time, only five years apart. And although they never got married, I'm glad they had a family together. I was waiting to discover his car became the Weasley's magical car, but having it end up in the car museum was much better.
