You must be surreptitious when pulling pranks on your friends if you want them to be effective. -
Then in a way your dreams have come true, because you're now passing them along to younger generation. Teaching is a noble profession, even if teachers are underpaid and under attack at times, so make sure you help your students keep their dreams alive. And I also want to thank you for the wonderful review you posted for this poem. To be honest, I had my doubts about posting this poem, since I'm not a poet and I don't know very much about writing poetry, so I'm amazed by the wonderful response I've had to it.

Thank you, and I'm glad you enjoyed my effort and the message it delivered. As I was writing it, I kept thinking of the late basketball coach Jimmy Valvano. When he was dealing with cancer, he made a speech where he said, "Don't give up. Don't ever give up!" That applies to your dreams as well and not only when you're fighting an illness. I hope this helps to inspire someone to take another look at their dreams.

Thank you, Tony, and what you've stated is so true. We must always dare to dream, no matter how difficult life has been or how many times we've faced unbearable obstacles. Life would be very bleak without dreams and the dreamers.

Thanks, drp, and those are very interesting questions and possibilities. We'll eventually discover which, if any of those options are correct, but it the meantime I'll just let you continue to ponder the situation. 😈

Yes, secrets can be unsetting when you eventually learn the truth, and you're correct in stating that secrets are becoming more and more difficult to keep. It would be devastating to Devin's family if their secret was ever discovered, possibly ending their freedom or their lives, so hopefully that will never happen.

When I was just a wee little lad and starting my adventure of going to school I’d spend my free time doing many different things, although mostly in my mind I might pretend to be a pirate sailing the ocean blue and raiding other ships I’d take all of their valuables, put them in a chest, and bury it in a safe place. Yes, there was a lot to be learned from Devin's family's history and how they deal with their longevity so others don't figure out what's going on with be discussed in later chapters. And the slow aging doesn't need to be a problem, since they can merely use their ability to disguise that fact, and that will also be addressed in future chapters.

Yes, the separation was hard on Mac then it was on Devin, and having lost both of his siblings during that same timeframe didn't help. We'll have to wait and see how shocked Mac's parents are when he tells them he's gay.

Yes, their two weeks together bonded the boys even more than they already were, and I agree that when Devin told Mickey that his family was moving away was devastating. It won't be easy for Mickey to deal with.
