  1. Thanks for the feedback, Danilo. I thought the idea of his dead friend coming back to haunt him and threatening to take over his body was spooky, but I guess to each their own. However, I do appreciate you reading it and letting me know what you thought.
  2. Yes, the teens and early twenties are a tough period for most, and looking back at my life, I'm surprised I got through it unscathed. I took many more risks than I should have, and suffered a couple of near misses, so to speak, but not everyone is as fortunate as I was. Unfortunately, Caleb wasn't that lucky and it came back to haunt Cooper as well. Thanks for the feedback.
  3. It was graduation day and I’d just earned my get out of jail card from high school. After I attended the graduation ceremony with the rest of my class, my parents threw me a graduation party. I stayed at the party for quite a while as I mingled with relatives and friends, and I received quite a few graduation presents as well. Eventually, I grew tired of the party and decided to attend some of the other graduation parties, hoping something more exciting might be going on there than was taking

    In a Stupor

Cooper Trottier and Caleb Ballinger are best friends and they just graduated from high school. Following the ceremony they attend several parties, ending up at the home of Ryder Squires. Maybe it was one party they should have skipped.
  5. Thank you for the feedback, Doha. I'm glad you enjoyed this little tale. And thank you for the review as well.
  6. Yes, it's the right wing politician that claim they're protecting personal freedoms when they are the ones taking them away. Book bans that limit what you can read, abortion bans that limit a woman's control over her own body, religious freedom laws the trample the rights of the LGBTQ community, and voting rights bills and gerrymandering that attempt to take away the right to vote of those who don't agree with them. I could go on. We have to wake up and take action by voting for candidates who will actually protect the rights of all of us, not just a specific few. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this. Thank you for the feedback.
  7. I'm glad this story touched a chord with you and you're correct. Apathy is what allows things like this to happen and everyone must cast their vote if they want things to change. If not, you end up with laws you don't want and don't support. Thank you for the feedback.
  8. Thank you, flesco, for the feedback and your kind words. I'm not sure about a follow-up on this story this year, but possibly I'll do that for next year. I will, however, be posting more Halloween stories this year, so watch for them. As always, thank you for reading my stories and I hope you'll enjoy those to come as well.
  9. Thank you for the feedback and kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
  10. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I've got other Halloween stories to share with you. I'm spacing them out, so keep an eye out for them.
  11. Thanks for the feedback, DaddyD. Yes, Cade did get a lot more than he bargained for, but he kept a cool head, as far as was possible. It was only fair that Bart doubled his pay, although that was far from being enough, but he did get more house sitting jobs out of it as well.
  12. Thanks, Danilo. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I believe that besides telling a tale a little education doesn't hurt, so I always throw in bits and pieces. I think it helps to enhance the story. Thanks for the feedback.
  13. Gary, at my age there's frost on the pumpkin, and other parts, year round. 😝
  14. I happened to see an online add from someone who needed a house sitter in the local area, and it was just for one week. It sounded like an easy job and I could use the money, so I called the phone number listed. “Hello.” “Hi, my name is Cade Bennett and I’m calling about your online ad for a house sitter. Would you please tell me the address of the house, on what dates you need someone, and how much it pays?” “Certainly, but first I’ll require a little more information about
  15. Cade Bennett is a college student and he happens to see an online ad for a house sitter. It’s only for one week and sounds like it will be easy money, but the week he’s hired for includes Halloween and he soon learns there’s more to this job than he expected.
  16. Gee, I'm not sure, but keep reading to find out. lol
  17. I read every story in each of the four batches and enjoyed all of them. Cheers to a wonderful and very special anthology and those that made it possible.

    The Last Hunt

I enjoyed how you dealt with aging, a mate possibly having dementia, and then the loss of a loved one. And then to my surprise, you allowed for the attraction of opposites, both in species and age, and allowed Seira to find love again. Well done!

    Don't Look Back

We finally got to learn how Vasil/King and Lennox made out from chapter 1. This was a beautiful and tender story about how Stephen overcomes dealing with PTSD and finds love at the same time. A truly enjoyable tale.

    Best of Friends

You guys fooled me. I thought we were going to continue to follow Lennox, but then I realized this place is like the space animals version of Fantasy Island combined with Survivor, and this version featured The Odd Couple. Can't wait to see what's next.

    The King

An Interesting beginning. Animals that wear clothes, talk, and can body morph. I feel like Dr. Doolittle eavesdropping on the animals being naughty. Very enjoyable and I can't wait to continue so I can see what's next.
  22. I think we'll have to see your medical license, Nurse Jackie, I mean Aaron.
  23. I read all but the longest story, and I'll do that later, but I'm exhausted right now. Kudos to the anthology team for presenting these three weeks of stories for our enjoyment and a huge thank you to the authors who contributed to this very special anniversary for GA.

    Chapter 1

A sign of the times, I thought, from junk to kink - but then you threw that shocker at me. Even though I was trying to guess who you'd used as models for Lizzie and Chas, it now seems to make perfect sense. Even her recollections of doing similar things with Phill didn't turn on my lightbulb, or the fact that she was wearing a tiara and was carrying her legendary handbag, I still didn't figure it out and was pleasantly surprised by the ending. I guess I wouldn't have made a very good Sherlock Holmes, because you gave me plenty of clues along the way, but I love it when I can't guess where an author is going with the story. Good job, Northie.

    The Purple Door

Val, what an emotional ride encompassing love, loss, a spirit guide, a new love, a new friend, and a lot of hard work. I found it interesting picturing the house as Greg first saw it, how it slowly and lovingly came together with some tense moments along the way, and that it wound up as wonderful as he, and David, imagined, with Marshall's help. I truly enjoyed this story and was at Greg's side every step of the way, and although I cringed a few times with his temper, I relished the journey. Kudos.
