Last chapter started in a peaceful countryside visit and ended up with fight in a barn. This one started with stressful inquiry and ended up with peaceful domestic chit chat. I like these emotional ups and downs! ๐ Jamie trying with half true might calm Mike for some time but in a long time it just more complicates already complicated situation! Till now, minister MW and Jamie have not been very successful with ghostbusting. It looks like amateurs playing rather than serious, strategic planning and executing. If they want some success, they have to change tactics, maybe even find some allies. It is not possible that they are the only two persons with special abilities...

I like your writing, at one moment it is almost a farce, with minister in his expensive shoes breaking through cows, at another, it is a heavy fight with supernatural creatures! You really know how to shape even the supporting characters: I can imagine in my head this situation...and question...it is so common!

I'm really glad you're back. I had to look at previous chapter to remind what was the question! ๐ As for the chapter, this is just the beginning of their encounter. Brain says one thing, but the heart wants another. I'm sure Axel's medical help to Jeha and his brothers didn't pass unnoticed. He is in much danger than he thinks he is.

I think @Summerabbacat suggested a better one: God, Guns & Girls - The Glennisters Exposed ๐ The three 'G's'! With subtitle God save us of great piety and greater morality...

OMG, they are so lovely!!! ๐ฅฐ Yes, off course, cash flow indeed!!! They know each other so well. Their love talk is simply adoring! Naturally, Colin bult company for himself, not to prove something to his family but...it is good to have some positive feedback, some recognition of his success! Owain is great support and has some very good advice. Colin's business is expanding and, as much as it sounds shallow, some people (his family in this case) can be impressed only by offices, buildings, not aware that the core of the business is not in that. Joe's writing talent is something new, there is great future for this boy.

Maybe in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch?! Entrance code is to spell the name of the place correctly! ๐

Although, as you have mentioned, the son didn't appear yet, I'm not convinced homophobia is the cause of estranged relationship between father and son. Maybe he is feeling betrayed. Father left him and his mother and it is difficult for his son to understand Phil lying was not the result of malice, but denial as product of that time. So, for Phil's son this is more personal matter than attitude toward LGBT+ community. I believe Colin might be the one to bring father and son together, he might be the bond. It would be nice that, before leaving this world, Phil reconciliate with his son.

I'm glad Jamie resolved some ethical dilemma in his head, at least he can sleep well and stop rushing to disaster with drugs and partying. Complete chapter is beautifully colorful written, I have a feeling I'm watching a good British police-comedy series. Jamie is definitely very smart guy! You cannot have such good and intelligent sense of humor and be stupid, no way! Regarding minister Walker, I cannot say I believe in his sincere change of opinion toward LGBT+ but there is some change in his relationship with Jamie. It is strange, but those witty sarcastic exchanges between them reminds me of some old bizarre married couple. Nothing romantic about it but this mind fighting with words is almost charming...and endlessly fun for reading! ๐ Strange circumstances have made them close but, is it going to last and how much minister will back up Jamie when shit happens...we will see!

A Murder Is Announced

WoW, what extensive and detailed explanation, thank you! So, the police are not organized as military which bring us to Jamie's relationship with minister. He is his personal security and all actions he did are not justified by the order of the superior. It is his personal decision to do/say something which means that Jamie's responsibility is higher than just 'I've been follow the orders'! Is it so?! -

I think minister of the police is the highest-ranking official in police, so, if he issued some order, it's up to Jamie to follow it. I don't know who is on higher position - PM... or king himself?! -

I'm sure Jamie is not less intelligent than Walker. You have made a good point here. I would only add difference in education. I'm sure minister studied at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE...and some famous boarding school before... Jamie didn't have advantage of such high-quality schooling. -

A Murder Is Announced
Cane23 commented on lawfulneutralmage's story chapter in A Murder Is Announced
When I wrote that Jamie is not the man I thought he was, it was not so much about him, but more about my own first impression of him. I believe I idealized him a bit and he is just a man as many readers mentioned...even kid, as @kbois said. I understand he needed some relief, even getting drunk would be easier for me to accept then using drugs. If nothing else, buying alcohol is legal, buying drugs is not. Especially considering his job and position... But as you have said - we all make dumb decisions sometimes... Now, saying all above, I have to tell a few words of defense for Jamie. I don't think that confronting paranormal has been the biggest challenge for him. The biggest problem is not fighting 'ghosts', it's fighting himself, how to justify breaking his own moral and ethical codes and principles. He violated everything he believes in and did everything he committed he will not. It must have been eating him alive. He is lying his love; he is lying his superiors. He is hiding evidence. His advancement in service is not going through regular procedures but by interventions from 'above'. His collogues hates him for that. He is working for minister whose believes and politics he doesn't support and above all, he doesn't see that all those things he is doing are for the benefit of the society. It is really going to be interesting to see how Jamie is going to fight all those challenges.- 113 comments

A Murder Is Announced
Cane23 commented on lawfulneutralmage's story chapter in A Murder Is Announced
I'm sorry to admit, but Jamie is not the man I thought he was. Not judging, even with these new abilities, he is just a man. Nevertheless, drugs are really a red line for me. I've been reading this club scene a several times, just to see is it possible that, maybe, it was Jamie's special powers manifestation under stress, but no... he abused substances! So, no more excuses for Jamie that he is "by the book" because less and less he is, and if he thinks that taking 'E' is better than honest talk with someone who loves you, he really is dumb as he himself suggested a few times in this chapter. My respect to @drown, you are a much better character reader then I am! ๐- 113 comments

I know Chris is your weakness! ๐ (well, the guy is hot as hell) But, he is too much Aussie to be Jamie! Maybe young Ewan Mcgregor...or Benedict Cumberbatch...maybe even Jonathan Rhys Meyers (from his The Tudors period)...

Colin 13: Pictures & Gardens
Cane23 commented on Robert Hugill's story chapter in Colin 13: Pictures & Gardens
Colin's relationship with his family is one step forward, two steps back! Anyway, deciding not to go to lunch with them has been a good one! After all, it is Miles who has to make this invitation, whether he changed his opinion or attitude (or both at best). -
Henry Cavill is beautiful, but he has such amazing smile that looking nicely grim as always doesn't fit somehow. Jamie is a bit of cynic...or badass (in the most positive way). ๐

Amazing chapter, started with lot of good English humor but ended with Jamie's pretty dark thoughts regarding ethics and morality of lying and killing. Yes, minister is hilarious, with bizarre meeting at Conservatives, and the top, such 'touching' remembering of Maggie F*cking Thatcher! ๐ Action scene is fantastic, still many questions to answer...

This amazing story takes place in Yarra Valley, Australia in early 2000s. When sixteen year old David finds out that his best friend Adam is gay, his initial reaction is ugly homophobic outburst. Adam has been disowned by his father and finds a refuge at Davidโs home. Here starts the journey of David, confused, with limited knowledge shaped by homophobic society. He risks losing his friends, his family, his brother, his girlfriend, by stubborn refuse to accept homosexuality. Then, he starts learning, growing and maturing, from the pain of remorse till the full redemption. Symbolically, as the biblical King David, he is fighting his Goliath, but his Goliath is himself. At the same time Adam, as the biblical first man, has the burden being the first openly gay person in Yarra Valley Christian College. But the real hero of the story is Davidโs younger brother Randy. He is giving total and unconditional support and comfort to Adam. Although straight he is being targeted as homosexual, proudly accepting to help his gay friend wearing the cross (or the pink triangle as it was in Nazi Germany, as it has been mentioned in the story). Randy shows impressive courage, attitude and steadfastness. He represents new, younger โ progressive and liberal generations. Generations which will change the World. To quote Edmund Burke โThe only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.โ There is impressive gallery of characters in this story. Some new friendships will be founded, some loves discovered, support will appear at the least expected places but disappointment too. With unique point of view, this story is a must read!

I agree, Liam overreacted. He was just showing off in front of Mike. That's why I've been quoted Mike's thoughts in my previous comment. He is saying something like this...you are ignoring me in the school where some older and serious bullies are pushing me, now you are playing hero and showing muscles to twelve-year-old kid. Anyway, it's been just an accident, both Mike and boy were confused.

Hahahahaha, they are such brats!!! It has taken some time, but I'm really starting to enjoy their small immatureness! ๐
