    Chapter 11

The Middle Ages caused Europeans to lose much of the scientific and intellectual knowledge of antiquity, so many ideas had to be rediscovered through Arabic texts and scholarship. Darien was not just bringing a doctor to their camp; he was allowing Stephen to learn.

    Chapter 10

I didn't expect this story would take so many different and intriguing turns on its adventurous path. It's an amazing combination of historical facts, fiction, and magic. As for our heroes, this body swap is going to become one of the greatest lessons of their lives. Wylan can finally see, while Ishan can develop his other senses. In an era without the internet or modern media, they have the chance to learn about each other not merely as enemies, but as people shaped by different cultures, religions, and civilizations. Yes, it is going to be dangerous and tense... but it will be worth it, and it is going to make for an amazing read. I wake up every morning with such anticipation - your story comes before coffee (black, strong, Turkish coffee in the Balkans ☕ ). 🙂

    Open Air

The fact that Kent shared intimate details about his twin - things he hadn’t even shared with his therapist - says a lot about the level of his trust and maybe something more... Marvin receives the confession with such calm and understanding, without a hint of judgment, which is admirable.

    Chapter 10

I thought the honey would be enough to do the healing, but... Nevertheless, it was only a matter of time before someone else from their group noticed that Wylan... isn’t exactly Wylan. Julian is conflicted, but if these boys learned anything, they learned to see beyond... and far, much farther than their own king.

    Chapter 14

Well, saving someone from the Sura clan (probably a child), of course! Nothing inspires loyalty more than a personal example!
  6. There’s some of an Agatha Christie atmosphere in the book...
  7. I find this book by @Laura S. Fox the most difficult to comment on. The characters are so well disguised that any speculation might be wrong (or right). Usually, I can decide very quickly whether I “like” or “dislike” a character... here, besides Lawrence, everyone - starting with King Bastien himself - is still impossible to define.

    Chapter 9

I had a feeling that Ishan was going to survive. I’m just curious about this magical connection - will it remain even when they are thousands of miles apart, occupied with their own domestic affairs rather than this common war that both unites and separates them?

    Chapter 14

Sura Island and Lyria have a difficult history, full of blood and betrayal. Still, there seems to be no safer place for Yulin than this prosperous community, isolated from court intrigues and his ambitious grandfather. Paradoxically, in the coming months, this could become the safest place for Raithion’s children in the entire empire. Also, with Yulin recovering and Azula softening, life on this island could offer Raithion the most peaceful and restful days he has had after many years of commanding duties

    Chapter 9

Interesting chapter. This turn showed the main characters in a new light. Being able to see must have been an overwhelming experience for Wylan, but the possibility not only to see the enemy, but also to see his human side, is exceptional. The same goes for Ishan - at the moment when he could have used the situation to spread defeatism among the Crusaders, he instead chose to give them hope. Maybe a bit more enthusiastically than expected... still, it was hope. The connection between Ishan and Wylan is strong and unexplainable. I’m wondering, once the war is over and everyone returns home (assuming Ishan survives), will they stay connected?

    Chapter 8

I might be wrong, but I've sensed some hope in William's letter:

    Chapter 8

Once they reunite, they won’t discuss the past - who did what or with whom. The real question is how William sees the future. He might be willing to share, but I’m not sure Darien and, especially, Wylan are going to be happy about such an arrangement.

    Chapter 8

Great chapter - in the midst of siege, war, blood, mud, and magic, this chapter comes as a breath of fresh air. It’s interesting to get a glimpse into Darien’s childhood. Now, once they come back home and Darien brings Wylan with him, how is he going to handle William’s jealousy? 😁

    Chapter 7

I see pictures again! Btw, I've always imagined Stephen as Christian Slater in The Name of the Rose...

    Chapter 6

It was not unusual in Turkish royal families -among the Seljuks and later the Ottomans -for the (eldest) brother who inherited the throne to order the execution of all his male siblings. This practice was driven not only by personal ambition but also by the belief that it ensured stability within the empire by preventing internal conflicts and civil wars.

    Chapter 5

The next chapter should be the most esoteric threesome we’ve ever read!

    Chapter 6

Dark and bloody chapter - two boys standing in the middle of a massacre, unable to stop it. Amazing and powerful writing that captures how men are capable of both divine compassion and savage cruelty.
  18. Niran is operating in a gray zone - not entirely using mafioso methods, but close enough to make Kent uneasy. The positive development is the sign of Kent’s healing -not only in his temper, but also in the fact that he no longer mentions his brother as often as before.
  19. “Don’t leave me alone in this, James,” she said softly. “Please.” The moment you realized it was about to turn into a complete shitstorm - and that James was the only stable foundation to rely on.
  20. Yes, Charlie is the “artist” - he’s not made for hard labor as moving!

    Chapter 5

But he is… maybe not to his own flesh and blood… yet… but he certainly is a father figure to his men.
  22. Only age gap Jack has to worry about right now is Theo being ten - who’s going to handle a little brat?! 😁

    Chapter 4

Give him the coins already, for God’s sake!

    Chapter 3

Epic chapter - the growth and maturation of all the heroes in the story is impressive, and the rewards and titles that follow are well deserved. Nevertheless, I particularly enjoy when (anti)heroes show the potential for learning and change. In this case, I’m thinking of Count Guy...once a selfish, arrogant man - who begins to show wisdom and respect, even admiration. In a way, we see two antiheroes at the beginning - two ambitious noblemen. One, Guy, grows into a person worthy of his status; the other, Baldwin, remains the opportunistic antagonist of the story.
  25. This is something different...I'm curious to see how is it going to unfold...
