It's probably how Matt feels at the moment. Yet, there are other guys in the game still. For example, Jakob. Maybe he has the same tactic as Oscar - get closer to the best friend (Brad)... Or even that basketball guy from the first chapter, Donell I think, that was removed by jealous Matt believing he might be a competition! Ha, what an irony!

Yes but, Pawn is a kid. Bishop should know - not only that Pawn IS NOT King, but he IS a King's son. So, before any romance develops, Bishop should protect his best friend's son the same way he would expect that for his daughter. In this thunderstorm of emotions - grief, lust, attraction, pain...he forgot Pawn is a family! Btw, how old are Bishop and his friends...? And why did King commit suicide? Was it depression or something else?

Ay, ay...twist indeed! Still, as story is written from Matt's POV, the same as he, I felt some mixed signals from Oscar, even flirting. I can understand Matt's frustration! I don't think Oscar has deceived him intentionally, still, it hurts. Oscar probably planned to get closer to Matt, so he can advocate his case to Emma... 'Win a best friend' strategy, instead of directly speaking to girl and avoiding any confusion! Stupid, right...?! Well, it's a prove that emotional intelligence doesn't have to go in hand with physical supremacy! 🤪 Poor Matt!

Oh my...so intense chapter!!! On one hand Bishop feels so strong attraction toward Pawn, there is passion, chemistry...but there is also great pain for loosing king. So much that he feels he is betraying King somehow with his growing affection for Pawn. It is sad reading about Bishop's mourning, but Pawn really touched my heart. Outsider at his own father's funeral, he came under the shadow of the late King he didn't even know properly; he is attracted to the man who was his father's lover, practically seduced and rejected at the same time. He is wandering the forest now, I can only hope he will come out as his father did once, riding the black stallion...

Appearing of new character - Detective Juan Ramos, made me think of this emptiness in Roger's romantic life. Maybe because of traumas from his past he has closed himself for love and berried into the job.

This is so true. Some parents are super supportive and accepting. Unfortunately, more are bigoted haters who disown their children. But in between, there are lot of 'shades of grey' as you say in this chapter. Accepting is a process, especially for parents who were raised in traditional and religious surrounding. Unfortunately, sometimes tragedy needs to happen to open their eyes. I like how @empath slowly reveals Roger's past. Since chapter one, I've been wondering who is Eddie and what was his role in Roger's life?
