I loved your comment @empath and I'm thrilled you liked the quote. I certainly enjoyed writing it.

Take your time @empath. I am happy for you to spend your time writing this story, which I am thoroughly engaged in reading. You reading mine can wait.

Oh come on, I'm not that bad. I've written characters that everyone hated without even meeting them. And anyway @Summerabbacat I was just adding to the list you started. 😺😺

Yes @Cane23 you are right that Melissa and Rebecca are sisters. My bad. Getting Melissa disinherited was certainly part of what Rebecca saw as her path to the family wealth. She saw John as someone who was potentially wealthy and someone she could control. She now knows that her inheritance (or part of it) is under threat, which is something she doesn't want. We can add money hungry to that list starting with conniving bitch.
-
We get a hint at Rebecca's motive in pursuing and marrying a man she knew was at least bisexual and probably gay. Follow the money is always good advice in seeking motivation. She has convinced John's father, Peter, to disinherit Melissa so she, Rebecca, ends up in control of the family fortune. She has been able to maintain the split between Melissa and Peter by continually using Melissa's lesbianism. That access to the inheritance is now very much under threat. A threat she is keen to remove.

I agree with others that Darryl has to get his act together and decide what is important. If he wants to play the field rather than be in a relationship, that's fine but be upfront about it. Don't pretend to be in a relationship. What concerned me was Darryl's apparent willingness to meet up again with Harris when they were all back home. That moves it from holiday tryst to ongoing.

Happy Birthday @CassieQ. I hope the day was all you wished for. 🎂 -
Bob seems to be a good matchmaker as well as a good landlord. Well it's obvious that the four of them only need two bedrooms in this four bedroom house. Time for another two guys to rent rooms, or is that a room?

alteration - Word of the Day - Fri Jan 10, 2025
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
A bit of a divergence but I hope an interesting one. As @Bill W pointed out alteration comes from the Late Latin alterare. It seems that alterare hasn't strayed far from Rome because it is still the modern Italian verb meaning "to alter". -
"Jamie was pretty sure the guy was nearsighted, but at the same time, he was making an effort to conceal the fact." This points to John being Cottontail even though we know John wears glasses. This quote indicates that Cottontail needs glasses but doesn't wear them when in "disguise".

Never underestimate the desire of parents whose child has been cured to tell anyone who will listen including using talk back radio and social media. The news was going to get out. Even a non-disclosure agreement would be useless.

vociferate - Word of the Day - Thu Jan 9, 2025
Paladin commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
@Bill W you omitted the most obvious example; Politicians vociferate at the slightest provocation, to denounce their opponents or laud their own opinions. -
This is another masterful work from @CasualWanderer82‘s inventive and productive mind. The death of Omar brings his three closest friends together at his funeral. After they regard the funeral service to be “inappropriate” for their dead friend, they set off to have a more appropriate service for their dead “King”. Unexpectedly Omar’s son, Patrick, insists on joining them on their journey. It becomes a journey of closure, a journey of historic discovery, a journey of sexual and emotional experience, a journey of personal strength, and a journey to freedom. I can’t recommend this wonderful story too highly. Just read it and experience its tale of confusion, strength, emotion and hope.

Don't be too hard on Vanessa, she may surprising you. Maybe, maybe not. Can their love for each other survive the revelation? They arrive in Stingray heads next episode.

@sandrewn's just the facts provided examples of aggregate being use to describe material added to cement to make concrete. It didn't reference the use of aggregate in Economics with the terms Aggregate Supply and Aggregate Demand. Aggregate Demand is the sum of four components: consumption, investment, government spending, and net exports. Aggregate Supply is the total amount of goods (including services) supplied by businesses within a country at a given price level.

I'm pleased that @Summerabbacat has cleared that up for you @Mark Ponyboy Peters. They do like to be naked together but there are limits to where and when. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Keep reading @chris191070. They visit Stingray Heads next chapter.

You are so right @Cane23. Jordan's past could be revealed unexpectedly.
-
Thank you @Ticklishboy30. Yes Cameron is fitting in well with Jordan's family and community. Things are going well for him.
-
Thanks @Tonyr and @Ivor Slipper, I'll be dishing up more details next chapter.

Remember @Flip-Flop that previously Cameron has lived in Brisbane. He is new to Sydney so doesn't have the background information about Jordan. The trip to Stingray Heads starts next chapter.

I agree with you that Paul only loved one person anchoring him to the location and the reason he returned. I was expanding that into a more universal observation. However, I can easily see Martin and Paul sharing Martin's flat in London.

Jordan looked at his ringing phone and recognized his mother’s ID. “Hi mum. How are you?” “Hello darling. I’m fine except for those aches and pains I have to take my medication for but thank you for asking.” She was taking far less medication than ninety percent of her age cohort but liked to suggest that people should be kind to her. She continued, “Is Cameron with you?” Jordan put the call on speaker, “Yes Mum. He still lives here with me and he’s right next to me. I’ve put the pho

Importantly, a very informative chapter. The treatment of indigenous peoples through history receives far too little real attention. Unfortunately a case of "history is written by the winners".
