And in keeping in time with our current theme synchronize is built around the word chronos and it's meaning. -
While this story focuses on the physical and sexual abuse of the boys it also points to other forms of abuse. Dom's twins are suffering emotional abuse because their exposure to their mother's death, their father's mob related demands and his incarceration. Dom's motives for asking Roger to care for them is partly his own mortality and also the twins' need for a more stable and nurturing environment. John and Rebecca's abuse was neglect of Mary and Joshua. A neglect that Rosa tried hard to compensate for, Fortunately John has gained some insight. @empath has included the four main forms of child abuse: physical, sexual, emotional and neglect. Magnificent writing.

Mads' is certainly a different type of "laying on of hands" and one that seems to provide positive results. The budding romance between Maddie and Colin is an enjoyable bonus. Now for the doctor's report.

Thank you @Summerabbacat for some interesting observations. You will need to wait to find out more about Jordan's history. I thought you would enjoy the comment about the Mosman house, although in all fairness the boys only though parts of the renovated house were "pig's breakfast" like.

Be careful what you wish for. The Jack of Spades being killed by the mob or his "associates" would deprive the FBI of information about other players in this dirty trade and the whereabouts of other boys. It would be better if he is caught by the FBI along with his computer and other records so the FBI can track and rescue more boys.

Thomas and Brendan are powerful together and the metaphor of the building and the abused boys is brilliant. Oliver's parents are desperate to see him, but Oliver hasn't been asked if he is ready to see them. I can only hope the reunion goes well although I suspect Oliver will not want to return with them but will want to stay with his brothers. His parents may not be prepared for that. So far the cheque is having a checkered history being passed back and forth. I don't think Roger should take it. I think Thomas should pay it into the "non profit entity" Roger has started setting up. It will be more use there and have more significance for Thomas.

An intriguing chapter. Jamie is certainly naive and his desire to come across as a "good guy" looks like getting him into lots of trouble. He should concentrate on the two things that make him feel happy and comfortable; music and Cottontail. So Cottontail's brother isn't anywhere near the success he claimed he would be. His obsession with Jamie is more like spurned lover than journalistic fervor. things were moving fast. He’d have to google Angus Boyd properly before he met Jamie again. Looks like Cottontail is intent on helping Jamie. Maybe he can find out enough to expose Angus on Xpress.

A bit of clarification about Australia. In Australia the concept "bank holiday" is very limited. It refers to a holiday for banks and a few other groups. Generally very few Australians would know the date of bank holiday. It is not an official public holiday. The day after Christmas day is a national public holiday across all Australian states and territories. It is called Boxing Day in all states and territories except South Australia where the same day is called "Proclamation day". Same day, same holiday, different name.

The entry in my copy of Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable gives the following information. Small gratuities given on Boxing Day. Boxes placed in churches for casual offerings used to be opened on Christmas Day and the contents called the "dole of the Christmas box" or the "box money" were distributed the next day by the priests. I assume to the needy. I avoid Boxing Day sales and only watch the cricket highlights. I do enjoy watching the beginning of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race on Boxing Day.

While not condoning his behaviour, I find Lucas fascinating. He is clearly a bully and has been for some years. I am left wondering if his vendetta against Neil is simply because he is a bigoted, gay hating bully or because of deeper personal and unresolved issues. Yes @Al Norris I agree that Owen is now having second thoughts. We will have to wait to see if he puts those thoughts into actions.

Like France, Australia also sells wine in cans. One wine magazine gives the count as 42 different wines. Many of them are sparkling wines, which shows where the market is. I haven't tried any of them so I can't comment on the quality. I'm sticking to wine in bottles.

It seems Australia invented the "goon bag" for wine, which consists of a wine filled plastic reservoir inside a cardboard box. Some people refer to one variety of the white wine as cardonnay.
