    Well, @wildone, I guess we're getting ready for winter, which isn't far away now. Living where I do up in the mountains, our winters are usually cool and often wet, so today I stacked my first (of many) load of firewood in preparation. If the weekends aren't too miserable, I'll quite probably be outside catching up on jobs on the farm. If they are miserable, I'll be inside the house with the fire roaring and either writing or watching football on TV. Haha! Like many folks from around this neck of the woods, I have a couple of trips planned north into Queensland over the next few months, where I'm sure the weather will be more welcoming. Any thoughts of sunburn will be six months away!

    @Doha well, unfortunately we don't really have too many adult book stores here ... except maybe in some of the cities. Us country folk have to get educated and experienced by "other" means.

    Spending an afternoon by the lake was one of those things I had always treasured while living in Thompsonville. When we were younger, more carefree and without any commitments at all, Aaron and I had done this often. We would watch the kids out on the water, sailing or paddling the floating trikes, or even simply throwing a line in along the shore with their grandfathers, perhaps trying to catch something for dinner, or perhaps just sharing some quality time together. Doing that same thing

    It was only a few minutes later when we arrived back at Luke and Matt’s house.     Nah, it's different here. 🙂 We don't have 'property taxes', but we do have various land rates, which are supposed to cover the services provided by the councils. I think there is another which is based on property value, not house size, but the aren't massive (unless you live in the really expensive suburbs). And rural properties are different again.

    The gravel road that led up the hill was straight and well formed, although in places there were cracks, some at least an inch wide, up through which weeds could be seen growing. I had the distinct impression that the road wasn’t being used that often lately.     @Paqman ok, I've figured out what to do! Will do some edits on ch. 10 when I'm online at home tonight, and chapter 38 will need a few minor changes as well. All fairly minor, but it'll sort this issue. I appreciate your picking it up ❤️
