  1. OMG! Funnily enough, there were fliers with that pictures plastered all over my campus... I haven't carved a pumpkin in years.
  2. You're now... 19? 20? Either way, congratulations for making it so far!! And have lots of fun tomorrow night!
  3. This is NaNoWriMo: http://www.nanowrimo.org/ Basically, you try to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. That's a bit less than 2,000 words a day. A bunch of my friends have convinced me to do it. Is anyone else here thinking of taking on this madness?
  4. Yes, one does wonder what would normally leak out of the asses of those vapidly grinning psychiatrists...
  5. Judging from the first couple of chapters of ISwB alone, it was apparent that Dan had tremendous talent. I'm very sorry to hear that he's passed away, and at such a young age. Fear no more the heat o' th' sun Nor the furious winters' rages; Thou thy worldly task hast done, Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages. Golden lads and girls all must, As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.

    I'm Butch!

You should run over a 'Yes on 8' sign with this new vehicle of yours.

    Boyfriend to Rehome

Wow... this is what happens after I get a night drinking vodka with friends and bitching about my boyfriend -- DomLuka returns! I should do the vodka/bitching more often, apparently it has great returns... I'm sobbing with happines, btw. Just thought you should know.
  8. Yeah, I'd read a bit about the Foley scandal when it was in headlines a few months (?) ago. What I meant about it being sad was something of a devil's advocate of an emotional role. I'm pretty sure the adult/minor thing and employer/employee thing isn't uncommon, but when it's not the Congressman, it's more a vice than a crime -- even though technically it's still a crime. I don't know where I'm going with this, except maybe to feel sorry for Foley, even though he obviously was a creep.
  9. *applause* You might want to check your car, though. Those signs are so vile they might've hurt your poor wheels.
  10. Haha... he sounds like a typical guy on any number of gay hookup sites. It's almost sad, the whole situation. Who doesn't lead a double life?
  11. If I were you, I'd be on a power trip to have such a hold over readers...
  12. Aww, I'm so touched. Thanks, everybody! And each one of you is welcomed to the bday cake Bondwriter has put up -- the picture is quite enormous in my browser...
  13. Campbell's 'Hero's Journey.' That's just how it is.

    No on 8!

Would you mind putting up a 'No on 8' sign? Or maybe you already have.
  15. God damn. Happy birthday. *bursts into tears*
  16. Happy birthday, my man! If you'd got yourself born four days later, we'd be sharing birthdays.
  17. Hemingway was the first thing I thought of when I saw the subject, and interestingly enough, this thread is about Hemingway! What do you know? 'I became a cockroach, and starved.' I'm sure it's not hard to figure that one out... 'Was that thing still my mother?' ...could be interesting. 'I'm used to loving you again.'
  18. I dunno... I kind of expected the post to be about erectile dysfunction, but I guess it's a good thing it's not, eh?
  19. Happy birthday! From today on, there will be no doors closed to you anymore... <-- looks kind of like a birthday hat and a candle
  20. A man after me own heart. Sadly, not everyone realizes that that's the true Goal of Life... including one's parents, sometimes, and one's academic advisors, who want you to take thermodynamics and lovely stuff like that.... Besides the Monkey King, I don't think I wanted to be anything else. Unless I said so otherwise in an earlier post that I've forgotten about. Hmm. Meh. Too lazy to check.
  21. All these stories tied up names... Although I'm wondering why the US couldn't be a bit more original sometimes. Or even descriptive. Why not something like "Nowheretown?" Maybe there's already been twenty of those. Too bad about your mother's ashes. Hope your load of beef goes well.
  22. Ahh, the COLD GENIUS! I'd long been a fan of that song, and that performance. *shiver* The intensity Nomi puts into singing reminds me, in a very poignant way, of late Callas (post 1959). And Purcell...! How can music from more than 300 yrs ago retain its immediacy and intensity??
  23. Is the attraction between an electron and a proton good or evil? I believe that the terms 'good' and 'evil' have meaning, but not the absolutism most people seem to confer. The actions of a particular individual to another individual at a specific point in time can seem either good or evil (or both) -- in that sense, these words have meaning. Beyond that, it's all rhetoric. Was Hitler evil? If the Nazis had won, most of the world would certainly not think him as evil. If he'd become an artist and stayed completely uninvolved with politics, would he still be evil? Is one's innate nature or one's deeds -- or potential deeds -- the determinate for evil or good? Each one of us is capable, if put in certain unforeseeable circumstances, of great destruction and great creation, of tremendous "good" and "evil." They mean nothing. The electron will still move to the proton, and that's all.
  24. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you find the time to update your excellent stories.
