  1. that, and I hate getting hairs in my mouth
  2. I think the issue is that if the relationship doesn't work out, it's hard to go back to being just friends. So, the question becomes... do you want to risk a good friendship for a potential relationship? Now maybe you're someone who can compartmentalize very easily. Me? I can't do that at all... but I tend to be a clingy, emotional person, so. .
  3. Personally, I prefer "okay" but I think I'm in the minority. "O.K." is just wrong, because it's not an abbreviation (at least, not that I know of). "OK" makes me think of Oklahoma. I also have issues with "Ok" because it looks funny. I'd be curious to find out where the saying derived from... anyone know?
  4. AHA! so another person notices that the announcements never make it into the View New Posts! AND are not shown on the main Forum home page. You actually have to enter a Subforum to see them.
  5. Ah, yes, Snowy! Avoiding is always a good one that never quite helps as much as I expect it to in the long run.
  6. Wow, that was really funny!! But come on, a banana, really? I may have to look up that show when it comes out on DVD.
  7. hey, I think bikes a-crashing was appropriate! I mean, CJ is now obsessed w/ bikes crashing! He said it himself!
  8. wow, a little slow on the uptake... I finally get that!
  9. no kidding! talk about a cliffhanger!

    Ambivalence

Hell, I'm 34 and still in need of learning
  11. YAY!! Comsie's back!!
  12. um... I think you already did...
  13. *sigh* this waiting is worse than one of his cliffhangers!
  14. Unfortunately, reoccuring depression isn't something that will just clear up with time and positive thinking. There are community mental health centers that will charge based on what the patient can afford. Anyone suffering from severe depression needs to find help immediately: http://www.nmha.org/go/help/ . Added: Glad to hear it, Tim!
  15. Tim, what if it didn't have to be like this? You're task for this weekend is to research where to get help in your area... Monday, you call and make an appointment, k?
  16. need any help?
  17. you have to think about what's best for you, not what he wants. if he's not willing to give you want you need, then you should make a clean break. it totally sucks, but don't ignore your instincts that being "just friends" won't work. trust your gut.

    Moodiness

guilt is fine. shame is not. you're not a bad person because you were mean. go apologize or make amends, and let it go. see if you can head off that behavior in the future; maybe take a breath before you take your mood out on someone else. it's acceptable to say, I can't deal with this now, let's talk later. find out what works for you. remember, too, what I mentioned before... what if it didn't have to be like this? have you made an appointment yet?
  19. Gary, I've always been this way, too. My friends think I'm weird. In fact, my friends rarely like the same music I do! Very annoying at times. Geez, not asking for much, are you? I don't actually remember Kevin's suggestions. My taste runs more along the suggestions that Tim made. Here are a couple that these young'uns might not think of (mostly because my music collection is way out of date)... Tool's Anima and Gravity Kills (self titled). If you're looking for brooding, but not necessarily dark, there's always Alice in Chains' Unplugged album. Beth Orton's Trailer Park is good for brooding, too, not really dark or rock, for that matter. Tim took all my really good angry rock recommendations, though none of them are really brooding. My favorite angry rock-rap song is "He Said She Said" by Limp Bizkit. Just one of those days... Never fails to put a smile on my face.
  20. wait! so what'd the coach say to him??

    Warning: Fragile

no advice from me, just a virtual hug... no touching involved!
  23. Tim, my friend got me to go to for meds/therapy for the first time by asking me one question, "What if it didn't have to be like that?" So next time you feel depressed, think about that question and go get some help! Remember that for most people, meds are just a way to break out of the cycle until you can get back on track. Maybe your school's med center has someone you could see?

    Complete HELL

Thanks, Joe, that was actually more entertaining than the story I was reading!
  25. Is most of Shakespeare's prose supposed to be appropriate for the times? Some of the words and contexts that he used where common knowledge back then. I mean, imagine people 300 years in the future reading Comsie's stuff! Personally, most prose (poems and such) is too time consuming for me to figure out what they heck they mean. Some of the great writers that I remember reading in school are like this, too... Hemmingway, Twain, Tolkien. Their sentences are so confusing that you have to stop and dissect them to figure out who's doing what to whom. The great writers obviously do this really well, regardless of how difficult it can be to read. Times when these sort of things are distracting are when writers use uncommon words, or the 3rd or 4th definition of a word, or too many adjectives or adverbs instead of more descriptive verbs and nouns, or sentences that don't flow well into the next sentence...
