When I was 8, it was early summer 1995 right before summer break, our 2nd grade teacher came in with the VHS version of Star Wars Episode IV. She was huge fan of the series and we started the marathon watching of Star Wars Episode IV-VI. Then, I became a fan of Star Trek afterwards as I was looking for similar things on TV at night and came upon Star Trek TNG Syndicated episodes and early DS9. A little later that year, I became a Babylon 5 fan around Season 2, when it started getting good. Star Wars started my interest in science fiction. I started reading Science fiction books a little later as well (It's how I became well versed in Sci-Fi genre plotting). I've seen all 6 Star Wars films, all 12 Star Trek films, and 5 of Babylon 5 movies, plus all the TV series at least once if I don't own it outright on DVD or Blue-Ray. (Plus BSG and The 4400 among my collection)

No, I am not talking about the Christian meaning of Christmas; I am asking what does the coming Holiday mean to you? For me, Christmas is a day where people share and exchange gifts, joy, and hope for a better future with other people in a spirit of family and community.

There is definitely romantic and sexual tension, but losing a lover is not something you can get away from easily, nor is a Nervous breakdown really a great start of a romance. I am being realistic with the two of them, if they do form a lasting bond eventually, it will have to be done through a long drawn out process of soul searching. As for poor Jeremy, he is like many others before him. a rising star who rose too quickly and fell hard, while bringing others down with him. Is he a bad person? No, you've seen his interactions with Hunter, he's just a like many of us at his age, so full of angst and sexual urges. Add to that his former popularity, you create the perfect scapegoat. He is an innocent boy caught in an evil man's scheme. Now as you have read the future in my Christmas Special; I also am not 2 dimensional, John Milton, my aptly named villain, may be a Christian Fundamentalist zealot, but he isn't completely wrong. After the murder of the Pope and a bomb destroying one of the holiest sites in Christianity Saint Peter's Basillica, no one will doubt his convictions were correct even if they harbor disagreements with his methods or other "hateful" ideals. The speech at the end of the story resonates back to a basic principle behind modern Jewish Nationalism and its overriding principle against the threat of "extermination". The phrase that people are so afraid to use as a denouncement against oppression and acts of Genocide must be repeated, not only by Jews, but by all of us who are in danger of death due to communal hate or apathy, "Never Again". Those two words should be enshrined in everyone's mind, not just today in my story, but through the ages to come. "Never Again" must be used more, not less out of political correctness as LGBT people have as much right to invoke those words even more in a world where nation's and religions still pursue our destruction.

Chapter 10 (Hunter Douglas, Code Name: Verne) Kevin spent the entire weekend with me, usually just sitting there or cuddling up to me at night to make sure I slept. We never had sex, not even a hand job like Jeremy had initiated. Part of me wished he would have done something, but that kiss had said all I needed to know about his feelings for me. Why do I consider this movie to be one of the best Christmas movies ever made? Simple, in a society that has become so cynical and hopeless, it is a refreshing reminder that the world can surprise you. Faith is something this movie transfers in a non-religious way to conceptual reality. If a man says, he's Santa Claus, we would likely say he's insane. We're a society in doubt and denial against faith in a positive aspect of the world and mankind's capability to be better than what we are today. Santa Claus is the benevolent figurehead of Christmas, surpassing even Jesus Christ. I remember reading an old Movie Review on Miracle on 34th Street, likening Kris Kringle's trial to the trial of Jesus Christ, but in a modern world where like the Pharisees of ancient times, his presence inspired hope along with doubt and skepticism. He is falsely accused by his detractors and put on trial. In the end, he is found guilty of not conforming to society's norms and as he is about to be condemned, he is resurrected by sheer faith alone. Miracle on 34th Street is a non-denominational representation of a Modern Christ figure. I know a lot of people don't like Christianity for what has happened over time, but at its heart, there is something fundamentally hopeful in the idea of a human being willing to put everyone else ahead of himself. That is the idea behind Santa Claus and this movie. In a funny way, the movie is probably the linchpin of modern American Liberalism as well, since the faith of Santa sustained and resurrected comes from the Federal Government (The All Powerful Liberal God figure of Democrats ). Yes, the government actually supported Santa Claus (Free gifts to every child and a strong industrial production line was a good position point for Democrats of 1940's, one most people could agree with, even today). The remake in 1994 pales in comparison, but it did deliver one brilliant line that I think perfectly encapsulates the original movie's basis of faith against doubt. This movie does not need a rating from me, it is a true CLASSIC, nothing like it has come again and nothing after it has even neared its magic.

First In case you guys didn't read Chapter 9, which I posted yesterday on regular schedule, here's a link Now, here's One Man's Worth Link and a little background: This story is set 2 weeks after Chapter 12, so there are a few spoilers. The inspiration for this Christmas Special came from two sources: One Man's Worth is the title of X-Men TAS Cartoon and Comic Book about the death of Professor Xavier causing a horrible future to be fixed by "Bishop", a mutant time traveler. The second inspiration came from a dream I had riding the bus the day after the Paris attacks about the possible attempted Assassination and mass murder at a Christmas event that would echo throughout the world. With that said, a Papal assassination and the destruction of St. Peter's Basilica on Christmas Eve during Mass would be one of the most powerful impact terrorist attacks with reverberations across the world; even dwarfing the 9/11 attacks. Despite Catholicism not having as much sway as it once did, the image of a Pope being gunned down by an Islamic terrorist would spark the next Crusade without question. Playing into the hands of interested parties, like the Fundamentalist Christian organization behind the Cyber bullying and attacks in the story. The story was written with a few tissues and some hard to write areas, because I honestly do like the current Pope and hope this story never comes true. However, there are undercurrents in our society that this story focuses up to the top: racial profiling is still an issue, an issue that can help terrorists who understand the subtle racism of Western nations. It doesn't take much more than a fake ID, some fake papers, and a fairer skin tone to mask a terrorist as a reporter. I also wanted to create a gay Christian Character of authority, honor, and a strong conviction in God, who would be the antithesis of John Milton, the antagonist. Enter Bishop, soon to be Cardinal, Alexandre Souza. In book 1, I will keep him as a minor character in the background, but Book 2, he will be a major character as the story expands in scope and depth. Would a celibate gay man become a Catholic priest, then rise through the ranks to become a Cardinal? Yes, it has happened in the past, not just for child molesters, but actual Cardinals and, historically, a few popes if you believe in the histories. Alexandre Souza is also a Brazilian, a very progressive South American nation, I dare say even more progressive than some Europeans nations. The interplay between him and Jorge (Pope Francis real first name ) was fun to write as they share history being South American Catholic leaders. As for the potential for terrorism in Vatican guarded by police and Swiss Guard, Pope John Paul II was nearly assassinated in 1981 by a Turkish man, who shot him 4 times, but miraculously missed his vital organs. The gunman only had 1 handgun and was overpowered by two civilians and a nun (Swiss Guard was no where to be seen). That was 1981 with just 1 shooter and a handgun, in my story they were facing AK-47's, grenades, sniper rifle, and handgun fire with the disadvantage of high ground being ceded to 2 "fake" cameramen.

If I mentioned it in Chapter 3, I will not forget it even in Chapter 9 (Hmm...3x3 = 9, is that a math reference, a religious reference to "3" by WL, or just a coincidence ) It's been one sided love of course, but what great love isn't one sided to begin with. Before we get to love, let's talk about loss; Hunter has lost a major battle against his foes and the walls are starting to cave in around his "pretentious" aura for secrecy. As I said before, modern times would make any concept of secrecy nearly impossible. Jesse Heron is one aspect of the veil being pulled up; he's a supporter without any restraint or any ethics outside his need to seek vengeance for a friend, a "surrogate" family, he lost at the very moment he needed it the most. People ask fundamental questions about why we go to extremes in our reactions to violence; people like Jesse Heron is what I would respond with, they have lost too much to accept morality. Hunter anguishes with this reality as he is being drawn into the same mindset. Then, you have people like Hunter, who at first believe they can fight the evil, these are the crusaders with a strong moral core. Yet, things in life do not always turn out rosy. Hunter won a battle, then lost another battle that he had himself seen coming down the road. In Hunter's mind, he had failed miserably as he chose to concetrate on the bigger fight, but sacrificed a known engagement. Put yourself in Hunter's mindset and view the destructive power of rumors in our technologically connected society, where information is available rapidly. A modern AIDS scare will not be the same as it was in the 1980's, it will spread faster based on false rumors circulated by social media, then interpreted by its users. Word of mouth can go out in days and weeks, but a tweet is read in seconds. Fear is far more easier to spread than truth or information. Hunter broke down at the prospect of losing the fight and losing everything he had with his friends. Logically, as readers, you might say it is just a scare, get over it. However, if you suffer in it, rumors can become reasons for depression and suicide. That is ultimately what killed Ryan Thatcher, Hunter's boyfriend back at the start of chapter 1. Then comes Kevin, the diamond in the rough. He's not openly intelligent, but he is quite gifted in his own right with a different kind of "variable" intelligence. He understands this fight better than Hunter does; it is ot going to be an easy good guys win in the end, it will be a long "Twilight struggle", where it might be that neither of them will see the end of it. What they are defending is not merely Gay rights or basic human rights, it is a concept that we all understand, but have not given a name to about the ideals we hold. Finally, Love is in the air, but don't think I am turning this into an erotic gay fiction novel The two of them have complicated personalities and Hunter is currently in no shape to hold a relationship. Get ready tomorrow, I am going to post a Christmas special for CBDT, it will shock you. The special short story is set after Chapter 12, so there are some spoilers ahead. The Christmas special will introduce a character who will be a guest star in Book 1, but play more prominent roles in Book 2.

I am not a LGBT crusader or activist, but I am a conscientious man. What is stopping Christian Fundamentalists in Africa from Aligning with radical groups in the US? How many Christian Clinics for HIV are there in Africa open freely in repressive Anti-gay nations like Nigeria with Death Sentences for Homosexuality? I might have pushed the envelope, but in our world, it is not that far from reality that a dedicated group of a few hardliners cannot accomplish with resources of an international NGO that exist in the thousands with religious affiliations. Hunter is not a perfect hero; he makes deadly mistakes of judgment too in his pursuit for success. That's his critical Character human flaw, he is an overachiever, who may not realize that victory is not always what you want. Winning a battle can easily hide the fact that you are losing a war. The term Pyrrhic victory comes from the Greek defeat of Roman Legions, which was so costly that it caused them to lose the entire war and their homeland to Rome. As for my discussion between Hunter and Jesse, Order vs. Survival as reflected in Comic bok arguments of Batman versus Walking Dead These are still Teens, who can conceptualize their worlds down to graphic novels. Was Jesse right that we live in times of disorder without Civilization due to the advances of Technology? Or, Is Hunter right, we must strive to create the future based on fundamental principles? Only time will tell...

Makes you wonder if Kennedy built those tunnels for Marilyn Monroe or if FDR built them for one of his girlfriends (or as an escape route during Nazi Bombing if it was ever discovered). FDR and Elanor Roosevelt were akin to Bill and Hilary; you know the relationship is political rather than physical or romantic, Elanor was far more open to the idea of Civil Rights than FDR back in the 1930's as one particular difference.

Thanks Skinny, You will be surprised next chapter by what happens. Jesse is another story; he is an interesting kid, tragic, but someone that draws you in.

Benji is tasked with subtly enabling detection without revealing how much he knows and with a clear target. On a side note, during federal Implementation of Health Information Technology standards at my former employer, a Medical Center, we actually did hire outside consultants to test the database. Here's the key internal issue with President Obama's Health Reform Act and its roll-out plan, since databases are usually isolated and developed independently without a set of unified standards, many Hospitals, Health Centers, Health Clinics, and Medical Universities had to pay technology consultants to come in and develop new Internal standards to map our database processes before a general audit. It's an irony, in order to secure your information, you must first open up the entire vaults to outside groups who you do not know well and who started out potentially with less than a year of activity to make money off the HIPAA's HIT regulations from Technology consultants. Information is power; sometimes people forget that reform without a clear path is dangerous in conjunction with other laws from state and municipal level like a mandatory questionnaire of psychological wellness. Beyond the big events, you just met Jesse Heron, my anti-Dickensian LGBT preteen. He is dying and quite provocatively angry. No one here can hate him for what he feels, he is a character to watch. I designed him to run as a foil to Hunter and his group, the Individual seeking to make one last great gasp for his world before he fades into darkness. In bigger plot, Jesse represents a major concept in Western postmodern literature, you will get the concept more as you read to the next chapters. As for "Myrlin", Myr got a kick out of me putting him in my story, when I told him. The IT "wizard" working in the dungeon to keep the entire Hospital going. As always, I hope you enjoy it, especially since next week will be surprising, scary, and unpredictable.

Tis' the season for Christmas/Holiday Movies, but instead of focusing on the good oldies like the 1984 George C. Scott version of the "A Christmas Carol", let's list our top 2015 Holiday movies for 2015 made between 2014-2015. So far I can only think of one original movie made recently worth mentioning as a Contender of great recent movies: Northpole (2014)

Before I do a write up for CBDT, I want to have some fun and do a review of a kid show that I caught by accident. Caught the tail end of Lion Guard earlier this week, then found it on demand for free on my Digital Cable. For those who do not watch Kid shows for nostalgia (How many of these shows are actually throwbacks to our generation's childhood, Millennials Rule! ) Lion Guard is the new Disney animated spin-off to Lion King movies. Yes, you can enjoy the show without being a kid, the jokes like "When you feel the love tonight" as "the Talk" for Simba's son and daughter, made me roll around laughing Plus, James Earl Jones booms into the clouds as Mufasa, it was epic good to see the bit as an old fan of the original movies (Damn it, I am only 28, but I feel old talking about a 1994 movie). Now here's the bad news, or good news depending on what they do with this show, the new lore and backstory does work for the movies' Canon, but it adds some unsettling aspects. Simba, who I did not feel was that subtle in his delivery, was being very "racist" or "species-ist" in terms of how he viewed integrating other animals into his "police force" or Lion Guard led by his son, Kion as the only Lion on the team. If you remove "Non-lions" with "Non-White people" and "Lions" with "White people", it gets dicey. Not sure if Disney wants to open that can of worms in a children's cartoon or even if this is meant for adults and kids alike, Simba eventually relents and let's Kion's non-lion friends be part of the Lion Guard, but I could sense there was still some reservations and even animosity between the Lion King and his subjects, if you take the young Cheetah Fuli at her word of "Lion Dominance" in Pride land politics. That's the most disturbing issue, which will probably get glossed over in Disney's regular show. I can't see them getting away with talking race relations in a Cartoon intended for young audiences. On the fun side of the story, they made Star Wars references. Based on the backstory, it sounds like the old "Lion Guard" that was led by Scar had noble intentions, but its leader's ambitions caused its downfall. If the "roar" really is this powerful, I am tempted to believe that Disney is trying to draw a "Star Wars" reference to the Force between Scar's fall from Light side of the Circle of Life to the Dark Side. Not sure if James Earl Jones appearance is a harbinger of the allusion, but if it is, they will probably hook me in for a few seasons, because I am just a sucker for those themes. Still, Star Wars is a little too Young Adult/Adult for preteen kids. Ultimately, my biggest criticism for Disney is one of simplicity: Like Girl Meets World and a host of other ideas that Disney has rehashed to make itself pertinent for the current generations, but try to draw touchstones for my generation, they are not making it work evenly. At times in the Pilot, I was awed by Movie references, then in other parts like the new catch-phrase (I am not going to repeat it, Hakuna Matata Forever! ) just made me feel really old and sort of off put. Disney needs to create two brands: one for kids to introduce existing materials and old stuff in new formats, and a brand to support their older fans, who grew up watching their shows, visiting their theme parks, and paying full price at the movies from the 90's. I give this TV Pilot: 3 out 5 It has promise, but it will probably go too kid-friendly to sustain Millennial Generations interest, even for Nostalgia.
