    Making Ready

Maybe Jo can help him figure out what he should do… ;–)
  2. Time to refresh this fun forum with a new item. Anyone thinking of decorating for Halloween yet? This is currently available on ebay
  3. Countdowns usually end with one and zero, not begin with one and count up! But, then again, Canada doesn’t have a space launch site (except in fiction). Canada only builds things like Shuttle Arms. ;–)
  4. This is a time-traveling story? ;–)
  5. So, no. ;–)
  6. So… bribery (tribute)? ;–)
  7. I told everybody that the countdown starts as soon as @Mikiesboy posts a new chapter! ;–)
  8. Will the amulet prevent the sword from slipping into Keter’s body and taking his soul? ;–)
  9. I used to know a very closeted nuclear scientist – he played on a Gay (US) football team that regularly humiliated the straight teams they competed with! ;–)

    Duncan's Story

It sounded to me as though the story was going to be about Duncan and Brad, rather than Duncan after Brad… ;–)

    Duncan's Story

So the proposed new series would in effect be a flashback? ;–)

    Chapter 8

Ostracism… Shunning… Groups have always used this method to enforce the desired behavior on their members. Do as we say or we won’t associate with you. Man is a social animal. It takes great courage to intentionally resist public pressure. Most people feel compelled to be a member of the group. Gangs… Sports fans… Secret clubs… Religions… Nationality…
  13. I’m surprised that these little inns are not fortified. They seem to be isolated in very dangerous country. Yet there is no mention of armed guards, thick walls, or weaponry. I would think they’d need to be in a little hamlet or tiny village, at least, for protection. ;–)
  14. Religion. Ruining lives even in fiction! ;–)

    The Sting

You shut yo mouth! I was born in Silicon Valley before it was Silicon Valley. I spent many happy vacations with my favorite Aunt, Uncle, and cousin in Cupertino. I am typing this on my MacBook Pro. There is no MS software installed on any of my computers or other electronic devices! Why would I want the cheap imitation when I can have the real thing? ;–)

I think you’re asking us for some prompt words! ;–) Let’s see… defenestration petrichor the rattle of a poorly installed car stereo subwoofer stem cell research tupperware
  17. I believe that the HR people who create ‘coat & tie’ dress codes are either from the East Coast (where there is a very high concentration of repressed people) or are women getting revenge for ‘nylons and heels’ dress codes. Except in a funeral home, a suit specialty store, a retailer of extremely high-end merchandise, or a very fine dining restaurant, there are few jobs where coats & ties actually make sense. I don’t think male news anchors need to wear suits because the female anchor sitting next to them is probably not wearing a suit and might even be wearing a very light sleeveless blouse with shorts or a skirt. Dressing nicely does not necessarily involve strangling yourself with a ritualistic penis hanging on your chest to satisfy archaic traditions. But this doesn’t mean I want to see a news reporter or even a retail worker wearing daisy dukes and a crop-top – female or male! ;–)

    Chapter 3

Three chapters and less than a week (in story time) is not rushing? ;–)

    Chapter 3

I guess when I was with my first boyfriends, I had sex right away too. But I learned that it’s much better for me to wait a while and get to know the guy I’m seeing first. What works for me might not be what works best for others. ;–)

Tyrone, Tiberius, Tiger, Tai Chi, Tai Kwan Do, Muay Thai, Thailand, Taiwan, Taipei, Typhoon, Tiber, Tigris, Tie-Die… Two are men's names with Tiberius being known mostly as James T Kirk’s middle name. A couple are Asian martial arts and might be given as a mocking nickname for someone who pretends to perform maneuvers based on what he’s seen in movies. Geographical names might be given as a nickname for reasons including birth in an unusual location. Tie-Die might be given as a nickname to someone who used to wear a shirt of that style. Tiger and Typhoon might be nicknames for someone with manic energy or is bipolar. Tai is used as a name on its own, but is either usually a Chinese name or more often applied to women in the West (Tai Babilonia, Tai Hernandez, etc). Tye could be a big fan of the actor. And there are other even more unlikely similar words…

And then there’s that Middle Eastern sacred fairytale book which comes in three basic variations, each with its own contradictory ending… ;–)

There’s still time for you to add a few twists and turns – maybe even ‘revise’ the ending! ;–) In the original version of The Hobbit, Gollum gives Bilbo the Ring. It was only in revised editions that the Ring was stolen by Bilbo. Bilbo certainly knew who the real owner was, but he wanted the Ring so much that he refused to return it and evaded Gollum to rejoin the Dwarves. ;–)
