    Coming Out

I’m sure Eric will love showing the Star Wars Saga to Dragon! It must have been fun showing Indiana Jones to Amasis. And An American Werewolf in London to Wayne! ;-)
  3. Every time Billy seems to be making progress, he chooses to do something incredibly stupid! Hopefully, Brett will be able to talk Billy out of that one. Either that or they find out they’re not old enough to get them yet. ;-) In 2 or 3 decades there’ll be millions of people regretting the ink that will have stretched 2 or 3 times larger than when they were first done! And they’ll be trying desperately to find ways to have them removed. And from my grave, I’ll be laughing loud enough to be heard by every single one those idiots! ;-)

    Deck the Balls

I don’t know what to say. I just don’t know. I’m speechless. word count: 12
  5. When Rush mentioned something missing when he interviewed Jake’s mother, I was thinking that love was what was missing! She misses his money, but I think she’s too self-centered to miss Jake himself! I don’t know enough about how alcoholics operate to know for sure, but wasn’t her behavior a clear indication to Rush that her drinking far predates Jake's death? I just know that my brain will remember bits and pieces of the information that you’re providing us, but they’ll be the wrong bits! I’m also not likely to figure out who did it until you explicitly tell us, Cole. My brain is not organized well enough to win arguments, much less legal cases! ;-)
  6. "A lot of people are crazy, cruel and negative. They got a little too much time on their hands to discuss everybody else. I have a limited amount of energy to blow in a day. I'd rather read something that I like or watch a program I enjoy or ride my damn motorcycle or throw back a couple of shots of tequila with my friends." ~ Queen Latifah
  7. The queen of soul...nuff said.
  8. Same as me! ;-)
  9. No, I think you’re celibate having lost Daniel. An Asexual person would be disinterested in sex. A celibate person has sexual feelings, but is not having sex with another person. Of course, these are my interpretations of the terms and your situation. ;-)
  10. I’m going to interpret George’s conclusions differently since my nonexistent medical degrees are just as valid as his are! I believe the venom (now why does this remind me of the Baldwin Sisters and their ‘Recipe’ on The Waltons TV show from the ‘70s?) modifies the parts of the DNA that are linked to a potential high rating on the Kinsey Scale (ie Gay or Bisexual leaning male). I think it’s much more than simply the removal of a heterosexual imperative – if that were the case, I’d expect more cases of asexuality. ;-)
  11. In my neighborhood, people either have pit bulls or rodents on a leash. ;-)

  13. But… but… but… you’d have to stop wearing your scary clown makeup for at least a decade! ;-) Do strapping young men carry babies on their backs while riding their motorcycles? ;-)

    Chapter 5

Gene groks Joey! ;-) Quite often women intuitively understand emotions and feelings that are far beyond the view of the majority of men. This seems to be mostly cultural since men and boys are instructed to ignore their feelings from a young age (‘boys don’t cry.’ ‘man up,’ etc). But there are a few very intuitive and nurturing men who break gender stereotypes (Joey usually falls into this category). ;-)
  15. Thanks, JP!! I don't know if you have ever heard it, but Mozart's dance was probably a loving tribute to his father. Leopold wrote a great tone poem, called "A Musical Sleigh Ride" when Wolfie was a boy. Here it is https://youtu.be/cEEtKy9lYKU
  16. Thanks, Steve. It's beautiful and meditative
  17. Is that a cute way of saying their relationship is in its end stages? ;-)
  18. This choice makes me think of the Dr. Demento holiday album, and this gem. "I'm gettin' nuttin for Christmas"

    Chapter 27

Olek & Peter need to be planning for subway routes. Design the space now so when they decide to build, the right of way is already reserved. In the Bay Area, certain freeways were designed with space in the center median so BART could be added without disrupting traffic on the road. It’s less expensive to plan ahead. Olek should also ban billboards and large signs that cause visual blight. Styria should not end up looking like Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Times Square. By limiting the size and number of advertising signs, it will be easier to maintain the architectural and environmental character of Makarovia. Laws could be drafted to require hiring at least a minimal number of Makarovians to maintain employment levels. Local content laws should be considered to prevent local companies and industries from being put out of business wholesale. Naturally, not all businesses and industries will survive new foreign competition, but steps should be taken to minimize those numbers. San Francisco limits the numbers of franchised and chain businesses. In some neighborhoods they are even banned to protect small business. Mega-retailers should be subjected to limits and regulations to ensure that they treat their employees fairly and do not exploit their workers (especially your favorite warehouse store, @R. Eric: Always the lowest wages. Always.).
  20. @Lux Apollo Here is some 16th century rock and roll for you. Hope it brings a smile to your face Simone Lo Castro preforming all four voices himself in Mateo Flecha el Viejo's La Bomba
  21. I recommend this entire album, but this song spectacular. Billy Gilman sings "There's a New Kid in Town"
  22. Love this one. It's part of a Thanksgiving playlist I play while I'm cooking that day

  24. I used to have a coworker who went to UC Davis. He was a very spoiled only child with wealthy parents (veterinarian father), grew up in a very exclusive community (the community objected to an ugly cell phone tower in the ‘90s and the phone company got Disney Imagineers to create a fake tree for them to disguise it), and went to a private high school that had a French semester where they all went to France! He was very conservative politically and despite his upbringing, didn’t really understand people outside his peers of equally wealthy parents. He opposed a California Proposition that would have set up Universal Health Care on the basis that ‘if they want health care, they should just get a job that provides it!’ He never quite got that he was only able to get a job selling computers at 17 because his parents indulged his curiosity in computers at an early age. He never understood that many parents are faced with the choice of food and rent or computers and health care. He supported a California Proposition that passed forbidding the state’s University of California and California State University systems from considering ethnicity in their admissions processes. He didn’t understand how an Asian-American could oppose a Proposition that would open up more spaces for Asian students in the most highly desired campuses. He never realized how much difference diversity makes in teaching us about the world, helps us think in larger ways, and makes us more creative because our world view was expanded! He was very intelligent, but had some glaring gaps in his education and experiences. ;-)
