    Into The Storm

Isn’t that what all religious leaders say? They usually use coded words to suggest that any failure to find the answers is the seeker’s fault, not the god or religion. (That’s why I’m Agnostic!) ;–)
  2. I think I read someone else’s take on this prompt last week. I certainly remember the Corgi because I remember mentioning that I would have gone with the toy cars that were oversized compared with my younger brother’s and my shared collection of Matchboxes and Hot Wheels in the late Sixties and early Seventies. (We weren’t rough with our toys, so when we gave them away when we moved from San Diego, they were still in very good condition.) Several of my favorite authors write Prompts or Anthology entries that scream out for expansion and sequels. It’s as if there’s a full novel-length story and you’re just giving us the first chapter. I get the feeling you’re all aware of more of their stories than you can squeeze into a short story format… I cannot imagine being as talented as you clearly are!

Jeff has already said he has several storylines in mind even as this story gets closer to a conclusion… ;–)

I’ve been a little distracted and busy recently…
  5. No, I feel sorry for the plumber’s assistant (who I believe is still in the hospital). He was naked when the pop tart chased him onto a ledge from a second-story (first floor in UK parlance) window when he fell. And as far as I can remember, the pop tart has followed him to the hospital to harass him there. So much for keeping the pop tart’s location secret.

If I stumble across a story that was posted months or years ago, I’ll still write the same sort of snarky Comments, observations, and notings that I leave for you. Something for you to look forward to when I eventually get around to reading Fleeting Eternity… ;–)

I write these things knowing you won’t reveal future events. I write them to see if any of the other readers are thinking the same thing I am. ;–)

Harlan (why did autocorrect change what I typed to ‘Carla’?) is used to everything working out the way he plans them to. He’s used to getting his way. At least a far as his Don allows… ;–) How long before he realizes that he misinterpreted the scene between Greg and Bailey?

If anyone already knows ASL, it’s Jeremy. But I’m guessing Mason will throw himself into learning something new! Greg and Clay will learn some basic signs as well. ;–)
  12. Alex and Robbie run away to Florida? Robbie is harassed by a no-talent pop ‘star’? Robbie flirts with a plumber’s assistant (‘Mr Septic Tank’)? ;–)

Now that you mention it, that does seem odd. Is it possible that this chapter was supposed to include Jake’s visit with his dad to see DC? Or did the chapter titles get mixed up? I was going to mention that my teacher Aunt took me and her (adopted) son to Ft McHenry (inspiration for the Stars Spangled Banner) and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for fireworks on the Fourth of July in the mid-Eighties. It must not have been too impressive because I don’t remember anything about it. The most remarkable thing about historical monuments in the DC/Baltimore/Philadephia region is how tiny almost everything is. They’re a lot older than things on the West Coast (buildings from the pre-Spanish Colonial era weren’t built to last for decades and Spanish Colonial adobe doesn’t survive as well as stone). And everything is so green because it rains so much in the summer and it’s unbearably humid (great conditions for amphibians, not so great for humans). ;–)

  15. Naturally, I have to assume, you know these statues were designed protect to "people" (meaning lords) from the rabble and crown. Of course you would have to know this, right? As for the 1689 Act, please name it so I can look it up. Concerning for the actual Constitution that protects ordinary Americans, it was based on the Iroquois Constitution and the great Indian nation of five tribes in the North East, as written about by Washington himself. https://www.fieldmuseum.org/blog/democracy-and-iroquois-constitution As for English Common Law, yes, sadly, we were burdened with that at the beginning, including the hanging Gay people, so...thanks for that
  16. Oh, so all the CCTV cameras will be going, because the subjects are so well legally protected. It's about time.

Just imagine all the stampedes if Danny lived on a sheep farm and went to ‘tend’ the flock… ;–)
  18. While I’ll reread this as it is posted here, I recently read it as it was being posted on another site. In contrast to The Green Side which @Mike Arram just finished posting, this story belongs to his historic Crown of Tassilo series. The happenings in the Crown of Tassilo series are referred to in the modern day Peacher series as historical events. And because both involve the mystical realm of Rothenia, a few characters crossover via the World Beyond. Among other things we find out how the noxious brew called coffee is introduced to Rothenia [spoiler alert: it wasn’t Starbucks!]. ;–) As with other stories by Mike, this is highly recommended even though Henry ‘Atvood’ and Ed Cornish, of course, do not appear! ;–)

I thought about that possibility. Although opposites attract, I think the two are far to different from each other. Can you imagine trendy-slang using Ryan talking to serious and measured Kyle? Kyle would forever be wondering what YB was saying! Could bundle-of-energy Ryan ever calm down enough to relax with Kyle? ;–)

Spanking it was chief among the evils my parents were reluctant to discuss, but nevertheless wanted to prevent from occurring. ;–)

  22. Actually, Mikado was premiered on the rooftop garden of Tony Faust's restaurant in Saint Louis. Sullivan was traveling to California to pick up his orphaned nephew from San Fransisco, and on the way back, allowed a friend of his to stage the first showing of the score. Sullivan had it with him because they always premiered their work in America. Two weeks after it was staged in Saint Louis, it opened in New York.
  23. Zombie dear, we should sit down sometime and review how relevant Gilbert remains on the stage. There is no satire in popular entertainment to beat the spectrum of his 'out-of-date' brilliance. Take Utopia, Ltd. for example. It's about a tropical paradise where everyone is equal, and crime and banks are unheard of, and then they fall victim to English bluster about the British superiority as a race, culture and "system", bringing misery and heartache down upon the people. Now, if that's not apt metaphor for what brought about Britex, nothing is As for culture, if one wants to see a performance of the stage work of Arne, Climenti, Ethel Smyth, Balfe and a host of other British composers, one has to travel overseas. (fortunately for us...you do a good job at keeping Benjamin Britten all to yourself...) It's the same in France, and in America - always the imported seeds gets the careful germination while the native blooms are neglected.
  24. Must have been written by an Englishman (and yes, obviously a man wrote such crap ). But when the crown-subjects of the UK finally get a Constitution and full 'citizenship' in the form of a Bill of Rights (or the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms) to protect them from snobs, Lords, potentates, and corporations, then we can talk about the topic again.

I like redheads! I like that Kyle likes solitude. I like that he’s not obsessed with his phone. I like that he’s not constantly worried about what’s happening on his social media accounts. He must have a reasonably nice singing voice if he has such a prominent role. ;–) From chatterbox Ryan to silent Kyle. And from sex-obsessed Danny to apparent-virgin Kyle. Jake is certainly sampling a wide variety of young men! It amuses me to see everyone with their heads buried in their phones when I’m on transit – I like to keep my phone in my pocket so thieves aren’t tempted to steal it (out of sight, out of mind). I fold origami units to keep from being bored. No one is going to want to steal paper stacks of very precise little squares. ;–)
