    Coming To Grips

No one is just sitting around. The entire team is working. If Stan can scan enough of those scrolls, Buddy will eventually be able to start deciphering them. There are two interlocking issues here: the language and the writing system. They think they understand the writing system, but every language seems to need modifications for its idiosyncrasies.
  2. @Timothy M. @Puppilull @Dodger There have been news reports on the ever bigger and more spectacular Prom invites. They’re becoming huge productions. Sometimes they get a favorite celebrity to do the request or to be the date (I wonder if a clean-shaven Chis Evans would go with me to a Prom). ;-)

Lucas always likes to take Joel just a tiny bit further than Joel thinks he’ll be comfortable with!

    The Truth

Erik & Seth already crossed-over during a cruise in North Meets South. There were no comments on their doppelgänger appearances in that story, so either they don’t resemble each other or their appearances were dissimilar enough not to be remarkable (or Eric didn’t think about it at the time). But you white guys all look alike anyway! ;-)

    Chapter Four

When you’re trying desperately to hide your sexual orientation from everyone, you don’t realize how often you unconsciously do things that expose your secret to people paying attention. When you’re deeply in the closet you’re not even aware of the clues you leave behind. How you react to guys who attract you, how you don’t react the same way straight guys do to women, even how you never talk about who you find attractive… ;-)
  6. …with a date they aren’t attracted to? …they don’t really care for? … they don’t have feelings for? In fact the phrasing ‘I shall be the envy of…’ is very formal and would only be used in an ironic tone. Was that the intent? (This whole sentence really feels wrong to me.)
  7. So not Trevor or Jazz, but maybe a different guy? Would Rob date a TransWoman or a TransMan? How open is he?
  8. Are you sure about that, Timmy? ;-)
  9. For all your claims that Rob is straight (as opposed to Gay or bisexual), he certainly doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to date any women… ;-) Maybe that last one spoiled all women for him… ;-)
  10. I don’t think you should even suggest targets like that! We already know how well your hints of more timely updates work out! Why set yourself up for trouble? ;-)
  11. As an Agnostic, it always amuses and annoys me that I know more about their holy fairytales than they do! They just repeat the lies and misinterpretations that they’ve heard in the past. They don’t know much about what they claim to believe. That oft repeated ‘Love the sinner, hate the sin’ is nowhere in their holy fairytale at all! They think it makes them sound open-minded, but it just shows their stubborn hatred more clearly. They don’t really do what their holy fairytale tells them to do.

They got really lucky in their search for the old ones. Rather than being an earlier, more primitive version of vampire, they turn out to be a corrupted, lesser version. Due to their origin, it would have been possible for them to have come from nearly anywhere else in the world…

I guess I’m not the only one who’s going to discover to their dismay that they need to Follow Drift in order to get a notification! I’m glad I just refreshed the New Stories page, as I do occasionally for just this reason! ;-)

Did Lucas arrange for Anton to be there? I wouldn’t put it past him! He’s sneaky when it comes to sex! ;-)

    A Close Shave

It’s very unprofessional of Dr Reilly to gossip about her patients, it violates professional ethics. I’m really beginning to fell like she’s not really very good at her job. She fails on so many levels. With her training, she should have recognized the signs of Brett and Billy’s relationship years before they realized what they felt for each other. It’s understandable that Billy’s parents would have been clueless, but Billy’s dad (George?) seems to have figured it out. They haven’t been as discreet as they might have been. As @Wesley8890 says, maybe we’ll find out from Mike what happened with Dustin. I hope it’s only the laptop's case that’s damaged. Replacing boards and other internal components is usually pretty expensive since most are custom parts. I suppose it’s possible that boards or cables have come out of their sockets and just need to be reset…

Your poetry is downright soulful. I could give a damn anymore about how unqualified I am to discuss poetry, because for me...this is more than that. I recently said to a friend that I felt foolish publishing my ramblings, and that poetry to me, like jazz is an intellectual's game. Screw that noise. What falls out of my head may seem like disorganized rambling, but it makes sense to me. lol Reading your poetry is like listening to the blues. It has a deep down pull from the gut feeling to it. Many of us know the pain of loss, physical and mental abuse, neglect, and have lived lives filled with tragedy. But you my dear can reduce a person to tears. In your words I do not hear self pity. I hear the survivor. Thanks for sharing moggy.
  17. Very lively. Is the composer himself playing here? There are some particularly skillful renderings in the up-tempo numbers
  18. @Lux Apollo You might like this one: "Oblivion" performed by the Budapest Saxophone Quartet (with an added flute... )
  19. Interesting. I think the tempo they chose does them a disservice.... a little breakneck rushing through most of the nuances in the fugue, imo. (btw, if you scroll back, I've posted quite a few saxophone quartet vids - it's a form I generally like ) Here's a performance I think is stellar https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/topic/41927-dead-composers-society/?do=findComment&comment=642715
  20. Yeah, you posted it. Congrats!!! Hug you.
  21. ‘Tobias watches his toenails grow’ another exciting Prompt Story chapter by the incomparable @Timothy M.! From @Headstall's toe-curling review: ‘Each and every word compels you to read the next group of letters for meaning and insight. The pacing is exquisite and the mood is simply remarkable. I almost couldn’t wait for the nail-biting conclusion so I could pull off my shoes and socks to examine my own toenails!’
  22. I remember being about 24 and meeting my mom in a faraway place, out of context of my boyhood home and town, when I was building an independent life, and thinking I may have come from that stock but did not belong to it anymore. I feel that when I read this poem.... And please do come to Live-Poets Society (in 'Poets Corner' forum) if you have a poem you want to 'workshop.' We're all really nice and supportive there Great poem
  23. Devon is smart enough to do what Colin unknowingly wanted and strong enough to do it against Colin’s wishes.
  24. 25°C/77°F is not cold to me, but under 16°C/60°F is! That’s when I start wearing a jacket. And when some guys, often with ample ‘self-insulation,’ are still running around in shorts.
  25. I’m guessing you mean the time covered in each chapter, not the rate the chapters are written! At least a synopsis of a future chapter will never be, ‘Eric and Nelson contemplate life as they watch paint dry, part two.’ A scenario that sounds more like the plot of a Swedish movie from the ‘70s.
