    Chapter 14

So Clive is finally exposed and subject to legal questioning! ;–) It was like one of those stings where the cops tell a foolish fugitive to claim his ’lottery money’ and arrest him when he shows up! Clive thinks he’s getting another prize for his books. But it’s a clever ruse to capture him quietly and without a fuss. ;–)

I’ve never had the opportunity. I’ve had Tiramisu once and liked it. My (Lesbian?) Aunt’s half Italian/half German 4-decades-long ‘roommate’ used to make us Anise-Flavored Italian cookies for christmas when we lived near them (since I don’t like licorice, I tolerated the cookies only because they were sweet). ;–) I love Gelato. While waiting in line outside Frameline film festival more than a decade ago, I bought a Gelato cone from a now-closed shop on Castro St. My ex embarrassed me by telling me how erotic it looked when I was innocently licking the Gelato. I now eat my Gelato alone in the privacy of my own apartment. ;–)

    Chapter 13

Can you adopt me? I’m too old to have kids though. More likely grandchildren (or even great-grandbabies) at my age! ;–) But no husband-prospects and very limited income prevent me from adopting the kids I’ve never wanted to have anyway – I can barely take care of myself! ;–)

It’s funny reading about the Wejg! I read about Henry & Ed visiting the Wejg. And I can remember some younger people visiting the district! ;–)

Henry’s mother? Henry’s boss Will? No, it’s got to be Rudi! ;–)

Instead of Cannoli (or Gelato), I was given that disgusting Spumoni for dessert after meals at Italian restaurants in the Seventies! ;–)

I thought the storm would hit early and that would force Jeff to stay with Dave! I wasn’t expecting a bear (there are only Golden Bears around here!). It wasn’t a huge surprise that they were together a year later. ;–)

Hey! Two familiar names beat me in reading this chapter, @SantiaChakin and @Justleah! I haven’t seen either of you commenting in quite a while, so you both must be reading different things from me! ;–)

    Chapter 12

I’m glad that Ben & Phil are getting a free ‘honeymoon’ on the Peachers. Since Ben is currently unemployed, maybe he can get a job in Strelzen. I’m sure that the local university would love to have a native English-speaker lecturing too, so Phil could move as well. (This is pre-Brexit, right?) ;–)

    Chapter 12

Henry’s probably my favorite character in the entire series. I think he must be a favorite of yours too, since he was the protagonist of so many of the stories! And with most characters, you have no idea what they’ll be doing in the future – I already know what Henry, Ed, Rudi, and many others will be doing! ;–) Maybe I’ve just forgotten, but I’m not sure I realized that Falkefilm made porn. I remember it being unsavory. You’d think I’d remember a detail like that. ;–)

    Chapter 12

Okay, I remember Henry hosting Eurovision. So now I have a better idea where this fits into the Rothenian timeline! It’s funny having bits and pieces aligning with other stories I remember, even things like the buildings and geographic descriptions. ;–) In most series, the stories are written in chronological order. But I’m currently reading two other (non-Rothenian) stories that fit somewhere in the middle of their series. It’s funny to catch up with an incident that already happened in another story, but told from a different perspective. That makes both stories more interesting because you get much more information than you got from just the earlier story. ;–)

By the way, is it pronounced ‘klōs’ (kləʊs) as in nearby or ‘klōz’ (kləʊz) as in shut?

I’d suggest that someone from the biggest industry in the area might want to make a tax-deductible donation to the Raven Project, but many of them aren’t paying any taxes because they aren’t operating legally. Even the ones who are operating under California regulations are not legal under Federal regulations. This is a major reason why financial institutions have, for the most part, refused to accept deposits from that industry, making it an all-cash business. This increases the likelihood for criminal behavior. Which Don controls this territory?

Prison! No wonder Clive knows such sketchy people. And no surprise that he’d hide his real history. ;–)
