Reric, Reric, Reric!
Russian, Ukrainian, and (theoretically) Makarovian are all Slavic languages. The Slavic language family is an Indo-European language just like nearly all of the other European languages. The exceptions are Basque, Finnish, Estonian, and Hungarian. Basque has no known relatives. Finnish and Estonian are members of the Finnic group of the Uralic family; Hungarian is part of that larger Uralic family which is not Indo-European.
Tom of Finland might not have understood what Zsa Zsa Gabor said in her native language, but they were speaking distantly related languages.
Indo-European languages have much more in common with each other because they have a common origin.
