  1. You expect him to be dead, so just continuing to breathe is on par with winning an Oscar.
  2. I think this is incorrect. Someone of Granger's same social standing would constantly have the same obligations that Granger has and would not be able to provide the level of attention Granger would need for the long haul.
  3. I'll have you know I love those plates...my husband hates them, so it's a win win situation.
  4. Tonight's dinner...Sharon's Chicken Paprikash with dumplings and steamed sugar snap peas.
  5. I'm not close. But now I have ideas.
  6. Oh I think George has a large streak of JP in him and, if push comes to shove (ha!), could handle his own dirty work.
  7. It was worth a try. I do make a Chicken Paprikash. If I PM you with my version, would you be willing to...let me know if I'm close?
  8. And it would make me feel all warm and fuzzy Inside if you'd be willing to share that Chicken Paprikash recipe.
  9. Grits... That's like polenta. right?
  10. Oh Vicky, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind. Hey Vicky... We met in Dom's Yahoo group in 2004. I got an email one day during the height of posting for The Ordinary Us with Arbour as the other recipient. Vic said "I've seen you two posting in the group and you both look like the only two sane people who think the same way I do. We should talk". There you go...match made in heaven. If you dig around in the archives of Dom's forum, you'll find that Vic also had a fine hand writing satire. Back in the day, it was something special to be a character in one of Vic's skits. Myr might well be the heart behind GA, but Vic was its soul. He'll be missed. And wherever you're at, Vic, I hope there's chocolate. Rest well my friend.
  11. If I have a mutated gene that indicates I probably have an 87% chance of developing breast cancer - even if it's at some imaginary point in the future - and I can reduce that percentage dramatically by removing my breasts now, then I am removing my breasts - perfectly healthy tissue - as fast as possible.

    Chapter 9

From Mari: I almost don't want to read about it but I just know it's going to go horribly wrong and Will will move to Texas to ride bareback broncos in a fit of rage. Bravo!!
  13. You know, if you want to have four drinks, have four drinks. Just don't get behind the wheel of a car. In fact, if you have one drink, don't drive. That would be perfectly responsible behavior.
  14. +10,000 The minute someone says 'sure, I'll edit your story', that phrase should be stamped on their forehead. You want to walk pink elephants through the middle of your story? We'll walk pink elephants through the middle of your story. I may suggest they walk left to right if the phasing works better, but the total number of elephants is totally up to you.
  15. This was the first piece of Libby's writing I had read and I was immediately hooked. Not only on this story, but Libby's writing in general. Running Far Afield is beautifully written, as you read you can see Chris and Aaron's relationship just...open up before your eyes. It's as if you were watching a flower bloom. I'm not usually so mushy with reviews. But, seriously, if you've not read this, you're missing something magical. Read her other stuff, too. You'll like it.
  16. Dude!!! You are so freakin' old.
  17. That's just one 'r'.
  18. Seriously?? I swear you just make this stuff up as you go along. Marie had no problem with Noah. In fact she gave Will the impression that they were good friends. Her problem didn't start until he showed interest in her and asked her out. She wasn't interested in him that way, didn't want to tell him that, made up some bullshit and then got caught out on her bullshit. Now she's dug her heels in and just continues to make herself look bad. Yeah - but I'm also going to insist she tell me why especially when they've been good friends for some time. I'm going to want to know what changed. I'm also going to make a point to talk to my nephew about the need to remove his friend - one of only two he invited - from the list. And maybe at the same time I'd check with that nephew to verify that my daughter - who I specifically told needed to apologize to her cousin - did, in fact, apologize. Because sometimes kids agree to a parent's instructions but then don't follow through. But, then again, I'm not Clair...I'm Tonto...sort of.
  19. Do any others do audio books? I've tried them and always find my mind wandering away from the story. Guess I need to see the printed words for anything to stick. My sister just handed me ten Karen Rose books. It's a series of psycho killer thrillers. I've just started All Lessons Learned by Charlie Cochrane which is book #8 in the Cambridge Fellows Mystery series, I'm a big fan of Jonty and Orlando. I'm half-way through The China Bride by Mary Jo Putney, which I've read about umpteen times. And just for backup, I'm re-reading Tom Clancy's Red Storm Rising. I don't sleep very much.
  20. Sure he can. My kids do it all the time. One minute I'm in awe of how brilliantly they handle themselves and fit into society and the next I'd like nothing better than to hang them up by their thumbs in the attic just so I don't have to hear them whine. Will understood perfectly what he was doing. JP did too. The ring symbolizes family unity. Thanks to some poorly thought out planning and inattentiveness the 'family' just slapped Will up side the head with the fact that he's not considered part of that family unit.

    Pretty Boys

Now, that was impressive. Do it again. Soon.
  22. But...but...then Jeremy wouldn't be able to say 'legacy character' forty-two freaking times inside of three posts!

    Epilogue 2

This was a long time in the making, rec, but well worth the wait. Beautiful story.
